After Hurricane Sandy put 14’ of water into lower Manhattan, we found an interactive tide map. The area we live in is the oldest settled part of mainland Boston and has not flooded for 288 years. We are actually about 40’ above median high tide. But a lot of the low areas near the Neponset River, South Boston, and especially Back Bay and East Cambridge are going to be flooded. They are working on plans to raise Morrissey three feet, not sure when it will happen. One of the reasons for the bike lanes is literally to push commuter traffic back onto the highway from the neighborhoods.
All that said, we keep our 11’ dinghy and a small outboard in the shed.....Our bug out boat.
