What a tragic wake up call to the French. I haven't weighed in on this yet, as there's not much to add to what others here have said, but this might be a necessary tragedy to ignite a fire under the ass of Europe. What will be telling is how they deal with this, and what the response will be over the coming weeks/months.

Dont forget that in many states that have recently implemented "shall issue", there are plenty of "gun free zones" for targets. As a general rule, the older a carry permit system, the fewer "voids" - because the older systems were not born in an anti-gun environment, but were designed to enforce a class system regarding who could carry (ie, NY Sullivan law, etc.)

France has less gun control than the UK or Germany. Citizens are allowed pistols in their homes for defensive purposes.

I typically carry my beretta 92fs with 3 10 round mags, just to avoid the extra hassle of fighting in court about my 15 rounders being preban. with the events of yesterday, dont care if cant afford to defend self with them, im carrying them from this point out as the extra 15 rounds between the 3 mags cant hurt.

There will be no wake up call. The gov will go on tv and deflect any blame away from their invaders. This will be a series of isolated incidents perpetrated by some individuals. There will be stern words for anyone thinking of taking the law into their own hands. People will complain around the water cooler and that will be that. I wouldnt be surprised if that refugee camp was set ablaze last night by its inhabitants.
The root of problem in Europe is the same as here- Leftists, progressives, liberals, communists, socialists- whatever they choose to call themselves. They are the root of the problem. They are the enablers, the financiers, educators, propagandists, shit-stirrers, etc. They must be dealt with first or else youre just playing whack-a-mole for the rest of your life. The problem in Western society is, average people have a hard time killing someone else because of their politics.

We all agree that this is a horrible tragedy. Or do we? I don't see any news headlines where muslim leaders in France are condemning these attacks, or any mosque leaders are in uproar against these disgusting acts, or even any broad condemnation from any muslim nations.
Where are all these muslims that are supposedly against terror and extremism? Where? I don't see them anywhere. Their absence and silence speaks in volumes by itself.

I was watching / evaluating some training videos just recently (multiple angle cameras and go pro's) and needless to say most states local LE / SWAT need a lot of training, I mean a lot.

The root of the problem is foreign policy and war that has created groups like ISIS as well as the refugee crisis.
I was always suspicious of our president but this whole open boarder thing has got some serious "red flags". I know its obvious to us but I still think half of the population have no idea we have open boards and terrorists are walking right in.
We need to talk about this every day from here on out with people we night not agree with. The narrative needs to shift from refugee sympathizers to friends and family safety. Follow the rules and laws currently on the books to limit this shit from happening here.

That part of the world has been in conflict for millennia. Why all of the sudden do you have such a huge stream of people? Afghanistan has been at war forever- Britian, Russia, the Taliban/Northern Alliance, US, why the sudden influx of Afghans? Africa has been a shithole since day one. Why the sudden influx of Ghanans, Sudanese, etc? Whose policies attract them? Who lets them stream across the "border"? Whose policies support them when they get to their destination?
Western foreign policy has had a hand in the shit going on in their countries? Fine. Why are they letting them in?
