MA: Deval to Introduce New Gun Legislation Today

Patrick wants to introduce more anti-gun legislation??

Explain please? CT doesn't have the same laws?

You asserted they were the same so the burden is on you. Let me know how your new bushmaster purchased in CT with its 30 rd mag works in MA or your new AK47 purchased in MA works for you in CT.

Blanket assertions like yours are dangerous to make because not everyone knows you are flat out wrong.

Wish in one hand, sh!t in the other, tell me what hand fills up first... I will take this speech, and the looming tax hikes as a sign that I am not welcome here in my home state and I will walk...... I've been planning on selling my house and moving up, 150k house on a decent size parcel in Florida is looking more attractive by the hour.

My wife and I can't legally move out of the state right now, so basically I'll keep the wishing and leave the shitting for the toilet and what comes out of the politicians mouths lol. If that changes later this year though...

I would be relieved if that was all that happened in MA. The momentum could carry this into some kind of magazine restriction similar to NY.

Hear it on the news this morning but couldn't find any current articles. Seems to be consistent with earlier reports. Must be in addition to anything Linsky is cooking up as well.

But Patrick says there are other state-level measures that need to be taken to ensure firearms do not fall into the wrong hands. The one-gun-a-month restriction is intended to stop “straw buyers” who purchase a large number of guns and then sell them illegally on the black market, Patrick administration officials say.

In addition to enacting that limit, the governor’s bill would enroll Massachusetts in a national mental health registry for firearm background checks, and impose registration requirements for firearm purchases at gun shows.

Can he push stuff through, or does it all have to be voted on? Is this more of a news conference just to say what he 'wants to do', or what he is going to do?

my guess it has to be voted on but its MA so it might as well be pushed through, pretty much the same outcome

Guess I will have to use my New Hampshire home, which started out as a hunting cabin but now has all the services a home would have, septic system, electricity etc. Guess its time to move and after 32 years in my present job see if I can retire and flee this state. This stuff is just gone competently out of control.

I'm there with you. Just put a second bathroom in it this year.

Cuomo: "We were afraid that when people found out that I had proposed this, there would be a run on purchase of assault weapons..."

For sure. I would have taken a sick day, gone to a gun store and maxed out a credit card if I was a NY resident while that debate was going on yesterday morning. Mainly on ammo since I'm a 1911 guy and run 7 +1 in the pipe.

Imagine if we could all move to the same area of NH.... Bet it would be one of the safest and crime free areas in the country! We would also have some kick ass BBQ's and block party's [wink]

Remind me why the **** I'm moving to this state?

I can only think of a few reasons that would be worth it. Reasons like, you need to move here to take care of a sick relative, you have no work and MA is your only option for employment or you absolutely HATE freedom. Outside of that, I don't know if I could justify it.

You're right, they're not exactly the same, but the gist of the laws are the same.

Much better in that you have the referenced laws. They have the same flavor yes. My objection to your original post was your choice of words, specifically "CT has the exact same AWB that MA does" which could only lead to butt hurt for someone not doing the work of actually looking up the laws and reading.

We all need to be careful to not post inaccurate information about the laws that can put other NESers in a load of hurt.

Is it wrong that I think if that is the worst we get I'll be relieved?

Yes, because that's not the worst we'll get. It may be the worst we'll get for now, but a year a year or two down the road they'll move to expand it even more. The whole idea is to be progressive about it. They take a couple inches now, then a couple more, then a couple more, by the time you add it all up, they've taken everything.

We were poo pooing NY yesterday, when we are going to become them this week. Hell they could have something inked by Friday, before any pro 2A rallies can be held.

Yes it wrong, BUT it could be alot worse I suppose.

We aren't becoming them. They will regret the day they pass anything.

Folks, Obama will be introducing significant anti-gun legislation as well. There is nowhere to run to. Leaving MA won't get you out of the frying pan.
