Modified ISO, anything else is a waste of time

Edit to expand on this a little more.
To be able to place fast accurate shots, a strong upper triangle is very important, you need to absorbs the recoil equally, ISO does this, weaver does not. Foot placement is not really a big factor as shooting is dynamic, not static, You need to be able to shoot either foot forward and off balance and it should not affect recoil management

For years I have had instructors telling my why the best way to shoot is the Iso, but I consistently out shoot them from the weaver. I guess whatever works for you is the right stance.

Ultimately, doing what works for you is probably right.

But until I can shoot as well as this guy I'll tend to listen to what he says.

Well, the answer to the question has almost entirely to do with what kind of shooting you do.

Ask a International pistol competition shooter, and they shoot one handed. 25 yards and 50 yards. That's what they practice, and that's how they shoot.

IDPA shooters are on the move, and so shoot with a totally different style.

Cowboy shooters, are a while other ball game.

People who just practice pure defensive concealed carry shooting have two or three ways that would work for them.

I know that a lot of the local PD's are training with the CAR system.......

INFO here: http://www.sabretactical.com/CAR/car.html

Anyone who's interested in learning that system can attend one of Weaponcraft Training's CAR classes.

Brokeback prone, something else that I learned about here on NES. [wink]

Iso. Doesnt hurt to try other stuff. The guy in the video does have the whole package though, operator clothes, check. British accent, check. Some offbeat method, check. He gives it away at the end though, calling a "double" on the last two holes. Definite IPSC shooter there.

All these stance names, and without a google search, I'm lost. I just shoot. Probably incorrectly. But no one gets hurt. [wink]

Don't worry, I'll get professional training at some point.

from the CAR information

CAR is about saving time. On the first range day the author dragged out
the shot timer and pressed Paul for a demonstration. At two yards with a
Glock .40 he achieved the following times from the high position with no
warmup whatsoever: 5 shots to body of target (5" group) in 0.76 seconds, 2
shots to body/2 shots to head in 0.94 seconds and most impressive 5 shots to
body/5 shots to head in 1.98 seconds! All shots were deep in the vital zones
of their respective targets. This shooting is so fast that Paul has actually
cracked the frame of his Glock 9mm below the ejection port by exceeding the
weapon¹s ability to absorb stress in rapid fire.

That is some fast shooting but you think he would have learned his lesson about Glock
