I've seen accidental double-taps with the .500 even with experienced shooters. When someone shoots mine, they get one round.
I don't think it's much worse than a 45 ACP. I've fired the one up at Bob's before and after the guy committed suicide with it.
Shame considering if someone had bothered to show her how to shoot it properly it could have likely been avoided. [sad2]

This is sarcasm without the tags right? While I haven't shot the .500 I do own a .44 mag and that is a buttload more powerful than .45ACP. The .500 is an order of magnitude more powerful than the .44 and in a different world than the .45. If you didn't think so, you weren't firing magnum powered loads.
Terrible accident but there's almost nothing in that story that would indicate to me who is to blame. Folks here seem to be jumping on "someone" giving a "beginner" a gun that was too powerful. Not a crazy assumption but there's nothing in the story that indicates who the gun belonged to or what the woman's experience level was.
.500 S&W special. (rental gun range load.)I don't think it's much worse than a 45 ACP. I've fired the one up at Bob's before and after the guy committed suicide with it.
Recently, I saw one for sale on Armslist here in North Carolina. The description said "Like new, fired twice"
Found it

I held on for dear life, and I'm not saying it didn't kick, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.
It was a "rental" load. You need to try a full power .500 to get the full experience.
Ive met folks who ccw this thing - I think there are a few on this board who do it.....that being said, its powerful, but it ain't a Howitzer.

How do you CCW a .500? It's at least as wide as a brick, and heavier.
