NRA News Conference at 11:00 AM Fri. (TODAY) Will broadcast on NRA website.

Nice touch leaving the choice of armed security to the locality.

... and he said something about including citizens.

This is really the best performance ive ever seen the NRA give. What a great idea.

Instead of squabbling over legislation, they are presenting a real solution to a present problem in a concise, professional manner.

That said, someone needs to listen :\

He not only said some good things, but he said they need to act TODAY. This doesn't mean any negotiations, just DO IT.

This was good, lets see how much "press" it gets in the news...........

The news has been talking about this all week, and I'm sure they were expecting concessions. Now they need to scramble on this.

It is up to gun owners now to fill the newspapers. Also, need to call school board members and superintendents TODAY!!!!!!

I did like that he brought up that he told them 5 years ago to protect schools after VA Tech and no one listened. Score one for Wayne.

Yes, this was good. He also said they should not wait this time, and act now.

Did a great job overall but with the beating he gave the media I wonder how much it will be covered? These moonbats do know that the NRA doesn't manufacture firearms right? Considering their goal is to educate and promote safety and LEGAL use I find it hard to say your against that.

EDIT: I was on FOX NEWS HD, did they show something else on non HD?

I watched FNHD.. on mute.. had the computer going since it was ahead of them. They carried it live... but started a little late and cut it a bit early.

WTF! I feel like I'm tripping right now; I had FNHD on waiting in case they cover it so I can switch to it instead of my laptop. They had obummer doing a Eulogy thing

They did pleasantly well I thought... Some good points. I think the video game comments seems more of a jab at the Media than the 1A but that's just me. I'm also not against Armed security or Citizenry in schools I don't think it's a Police state issue because we have that already.

I guess I was paying attention to the wrong thread for this... my thoughts from the other thread if anyone cares:

Hey, on the bright side maybe we can stop hearing about how the NRA doesn't really want 2A freedom because then they would lose power. If they get a government subsidized monopoly on school security training then there should be no worries about how they will keep the cash flowing!
.........
To be fair, I think they did say any such training programs would be offered for free - I'm sure they will still have some way to make money from it though.
........
I missed a bit of the beginning and wasn't paying 100% attention at all times, but I didn't hear too much talk about mental health issues and background checks.

I think the speech could have been more aggressive in trying to slap down new gun control laws, but it certainly wasn't bad in that respect. There were no "concessions".

For those that don't like the NRA, well there is still opportunity for the speech to validate your views - as a monolith that wants to maintain its grip on the industry they are trying to push ahead and strengthen their monopoly on training.

Hmmm, here that came after the NRA statement

I read the transcript and over all I think they did well. It's good to see that they aren't rolling over. They were much more respectful than other organizations around this event. Good to see they are blaming the real culprit too, the media.

I don't know. I was waiting on Fox about 11 and nothing but fiscal cliff, etc. -switched to CNN and they had the NRA presser. Flipped back to Fox immediately after and they were still going on about the fiscal cliff, don't know if they showed any of the NRA briefing, it was odd and almost as if they didn't want to appear to be the most obvious network to carry it.

The libs on MSNBC are losing it and letting a fury of lies go in appraising Lapierres contributions. Facts bounce off of these peoples heads like rain off a roof. It's funny because LaPierre said, "I know the press will say tomorrow that I'm calling for more guns." Then the pundits on MSNBC said he essentially called for more guns. NO, he called for an end to gun free zones, stop the lying.

Well I had let my GOAL and NRA memberships expire in October but with the way they both have handled themselves both were renewed about an hour ago and I couldn't have really been happier to do it!

I agree, throwing the game, and movie industries under the bus is not a sound way to go. People need to take responsibility for their own actions, not say "I did it because I played COD!". WTF, we all grew up watching Roadrunner and other cartoon violence, but how many of us tried to enact that shit in real life?

I painted a cave entrance on a brick wall and told my friend to run inside. Does that count?

I was just told supporting armed people protecting schools is furthering the police state and big government. This guy is an admitted socialist. ****in crazy

One of the best parts of the speech was when he mentioned that guns are seen to be good to protect the President but are bad when it comes to protecting our children.

This has to be mentioned more often - to show concerned parents that the gun grabbers don't really care about their children.

I would even mention that Obama's kids ARE protected by armed guards while in school.
I would also suggest for Obama to try for a week what he wants our children to do...be in a 'gun free zone'! Make it the same as the no fly zones wherever he goes. Put a half mile radius around the President and declare it a gun free zone (including his bodyguards)...see how he likes that feeling.
I mean - if it's good for our children....
