The media bashing was fun but more time should've been used on DEFENDING rights than suggesting a "solution" to a singular concern.

I disagree. The singular concern the left will focus on in promoting an AWB IS the school shooting. He presented a solution that addresses that concern more effectively than any ban would. He also pledged the NRA will fund the necessary training. There will be plenty of time in the future debates to defend 2A rights. But in the immediate term there is a solution on the table. Hopefully the house will propose a bill to adopt his recommendations ASAP. I think this is a brilliant move and puts the onus on the left to accept or reject. If they reject increased school safety it puts a spotlight on their real agenda which is disarming the populace not securing our schools.

I am beyond pissed about the video game and media bashing. Wayne was talking about consumption of 1A protected media exactly the same way the anti-gunners talk about gun ownership. Other than that, it was the best I thought I could expect. I would've come down more on the armed citizen side than more police, but that's minor. I'm a life member, and I'm seriously torn about whether to resign or not. I'm that angry. Wayne is a bumbling old fool. Time for Cincinnati v2.

It's an interesting theory he presented. Violence is far more prevalent now in all forms of media, often grotesque. If people are asking why society is falling apart at the seams lately, it should be examined. He never called for laws curtailing the 1st amd., he simply stated that the media doesn't have the class or morality to not spew violent brainless shoot 'em ups upon the masses. Perhaps they should have some restraint and inspection of impact. It's a reflection on culture.

The NEA will come out quickly against anything the NRA proposes. They will find some obscure clause in their boilerplate union contract saying they don't have to work in a school with an armed guard.

My wife is a teacher and although she doesn't belong to the NEA, she still gets their shit (and I mean that in every sense of the word)...I am amazed and apalled the amount of misinformation that their website, newsletters and magazines propagate...it's really scary. If anyone from the NEA tells you they are for the kids, they are baldfaced lying to you...they are more concerned with their own welfare, pay raises, retirement benefits, etc, etc, etc....

Wasn't so hard was that? This is how things get done in America, private enterprise is the answer, not more laws and government.

The media has come a long ways with technology and depicts many acts of violence, gun violence. That said, I love me some COD and I don't want green blood like they have to show in Germany. With all the drugs floating around, maybe some people can't handle videogames, perhaps a tiny minority are influenced by games. And yes, if you make a game called kindergarten shooter, you're a scumbag. It's food for thought.

Thanks for the running commentary on the press conference. Sounds like Wayne and the NRA found their balls. Good for them and us. I re-upped w/GOA this morning and now I`m thinking of renewing w/the NRA.

How do you stop a gun that does not register at a metal detector? Glock makes plastic guns, the scum in Conn. shot himself with one. High impact plastics allow for plastic rifles to be made. This is not science fiction. There is a you tube video of the firing of a plastic AR-15. Banning assault weapons is only a knee jerk reaction and will accomplish nothing just like the ban from (1994-2004) did nothing!

The rights stated in the Declaration of Independence are "unalienable" which is different from "inalienable"...WAY different.

i have no issues if they want to put armed guards at schools because right now people who would do harm know that its basically a shooting gallery if they went in

This. Please. I was playing Doom II when I was 3 years old and that began my video game career. I've killed countless hookers, cops, gang members, and plain old citizens in the GTA series since III came out in the late 90s I think. It doesn't promote violence at all, if anything it just plays out taboo situations that you would never do in real life. Other than this, NRA did a fantastic job.

Well, I called the chairman of our school committee, and left message asking if we can "open a conversation" (or something like that) about discussing this new shield system for our schools. Next call is to the chief of police to do the same thing. Need to strike fast, even if just in generalities for now.

I personally think that this news conference did nothing. The dems and antis are still going to push their agenda for a new AWB, and will most likely get it.

I thought Wayne had a lot of good things to say, and agreed with about 99% of it. I hope it changes something, but I doubt it will.
