If Obama is Elected, What are YOU buying?

Doubling my food storage.
Buying lots and lots of ammo for what I own
Buying lots of silver
Buying lots of gold

Anything you think you will really want you should buy NOW. Once the shops and dealer realize people are starting to hoard the prices are going to skyrocket. That being said I think I will stock up on 7.62x39.

People are already doing that....

AR Lowers and Hi Caps, any and all Ammo.

Nothing out of the ordinary, just like when William Jefferson Clinton was elected. We survived (barely).

The thought of Obama winning is not a pretty sight but remember just because he's a liberal and Congress may be run by Dems doesn't necessarily mean he'll get everything he asks for. Same was said of Clinton and we all know how much of what he wanted got done. I'm not sticking up for Obama but panic is not what we need right now, panic and paranoia is what the other side wants.Disorganized people can't mount any effective counter attacks What we need is cool heads and clear thinking to plan accordingly to derail any anti gun plans. I know this Ma but I think you got my drift.

I agree 100% - that's why I brought it up now so we can do some careful, deliberate planning. If Obama is elected, he is not going to suddenly "see the light" and reverse his past pronouncements regarding firearms.

Better to have something in mind and be prepared to execute the plan if needed, then to wake up one morning, see the headlines, and say "OH SHIT!"

FAILURE TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL

a one way ticket to switzerland, where people are encouraged to know how to operate firearms and are encouraged to own them. (I believe tis switzerland that does this)

I tend to agree. Added to that there are a lot of Dems in Congress who have a long enough memory to remember that the last AWB cost them their jobs. I doubt they will want a repeat of that.

Of course, in an ideal world we would have the Executive branch under one party and the Legislative branch under another. That way we have a government in deadlock for 4 years - no new stupid legislation!!!

IMHO it doesn't matter what Snobama or Mcrap is elected... I'm still buying whatever I normally would.... which is as
much ammo/components/guns as I can afford with whatever little money is left over. [grin]

If Obama wins, I'm just going to sit back and watch the inauguration on TV. Until he appoints his cabinet and they are in place, he hasn't done anything to get your panties in a bundle. Just like Hillary had her socialist medicine plans which fell flat (probably with Bills help), any wild plan Obama comes up with that doesn't pass muster with the Washington elite, will fail. Eventually he might become a great President. Or...a great do nothing with grand ideas but unable to carry them out. In the words of Alfred E. Neuman, "What? Me worry?". Conjecture will just give you a headache.[wink]

If the unthinkable happens, and Mr. Change manages to hoodwink enough moderates and independents to win the presidency....

WHAT ARE YOU BUYING BETWEEN NOVEMBER 4, 2008 AND JANUARY 20, 2009?
An island springs to mind... or maybe it's time for Hebrew lessons - Aliyah, anyone?

*sigh* Probably several tins of Greek 30.06, a pre-ban lower and as much 5.56 as the budget will stand. And a four year supply of tranquilizers; I'm gonna need them.

This has been an very interesting thread to follow. I'm rather predispositioned to look at the psychology behind the messages and this whole thread has been very absorbing, for several reasons. Let's presuppose for a min or two that Senator Obama wins the majority of the electoral college votes ( popular vote doesn't count remember) and becomes the 44th president of the United States. He becomes the democratically elected leader of the country ( and the polls give him a good chance of doing so) , and the first African American in history to hold the office. Then what? Mass grab for all the legally held firearms in the country? I doubt it. Riots in the streets led by the Christian far right? I doubt it. Mass protests , looting and riots in all the major cities in Republican states ? I doubt it. Why do I doubt this? Because the average members of the American electorate is not in the least bit interested or informed when it comes to the issues outside of those that immediately or material impact their day to day lives. They are spoon fed watered down media coverage of the key political issues, so providing they still get their cable TV, McDonald's , American Idol and gas doesn't cost $5 a gallon they basically don't care.

Now turn it around the other way - and assume that Senator McCain is the democratically elected president. What happens? Nothing - same scenario.

Any changes that are put in place will be slow and insidious, rather than radical and sweeping. It will be the boiling frog principle.

Any non firearm owning citizens reading this thread would think we are all overly concerned about the immediate removal of basic rights under the constitution, which will not happen over night, but feeding their distorted perceptions of gun owning citizens as loony survivalists, what with the talk of burying guns, stockpiling ammo ( alright, I do that already) - it all sounds a little too survivalist for non gunnies.

The whole discussion about what to buy if Obama wins does "our" cause more harm than good IMHO. It looks paranoid and divisive. If McCain wins ( which I doubt) or Obama takes the vote, then at the end of the day they have been elected to the role. We place a huge amount of stock on being a free democracy. As a patriotic and proud American-by choice, I will support the office of the president no matter who sits in the White House. I don't have to respect the man, but I do respect the position.

You may be right about the fact that the change won't happen right away, but that doesn't stop the change. Whats wrong with preparing for the future? I bet there's a lot of guys who wish they were preparing for the '94 ban way back in the 80's. We're taking the history, learning from it, and preparing for the future. Anyone who criticizes that is a moonbat. Plain and simple. The buty part about history is that you can learn from it. The unfortunate part about human nature is that most of them don't. You choose for yourself.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS THROUGHOUT HISTORY:

“You, too, Brutus?”

“They’re just uneducated savages – why are you worried about the Mongols?”

“We should have no problems crushing the American Colonists – they are just a rabble up against the greatest military force the world has ever known.”

“He’s just one man – what is he going to do? Round up and kill every Jew in Germany?”

“Thank goodness the war is over – Europe can now remain at peace for a thousand years.”

“So what if the Massachusetts Legislature is debating a new firearms licensing law – my FID is good for life.”

“The whole discussion about what to buy if Obama wins does "our" cause more harm than good IMHO. It looks paranoid and divisive. “

READ Matthew Bracken’s “ Enemies Foreign and Domestic” to see how an “incident” can cause a major crackdown on our civil rights.

http://www.amazon.com/Enemies-Forei...bs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219356671&sr=8-2

Book Description

"Enemies Foreign And Domestic is a domestic terrorism thriller set in the near future. The novel begins on opening day of the NFL season, when bullets begin to rain down upon the upper deck of a packed football stadium. A panic stampede ensues, leading to mass casualties. The alleged sniper is found holding a smoking assault rifle, and is killed by a police marksman. "

"One week later, congress bans the private possession of all semi-automatic assault rifles. Gun owners are given one week to turn in their semi-automatic rifles, or face a five year mandatory sentence."

"The plot revolves around the true identity of the actual sniper. The alleged sniper killed at the scene may be a patsy, and many Americans refuse to turn in their banned weapons, leading to a civil crisis in the nation. "

I understand your basic points Negotiator but you must understand that you've painted only the most logical and/or predictable outcome of an Obama presidency. The deplorable but inescapable reality is that we don't always legislate in a rational, level headed and considered manner. In fact, all it takes is one-over-the-top incident to usher in sweeping reactionary legislation. A single serious political event, or brutal domestic criminal act, or even a terrorist-related event could change things virtually overnight. If you're the type of person who can't purchase what you've always wanted immediately upon learning of an impending ban, it only makes sense to purchase at least the basic items in advance.

Mrs. Wong and I are heading down towards Greenville SC shortly to look for and buy some land. I want 8 or 10 acres, away from the city. I want to have a place I can go to for peace and solitude because I feel the world is turning to sh*t. A nice rustic style ranch, some land to enjoy, and hopefully a stream or pond to hang out near, do some fishing. And shoot.

Oh yeah. and someplace far away from moonbats.

As far as guns go. Maybe I'd buy another AR as an investment.

Raoul - I agree 100%---it only takes another incursion by Russia, a horrid domestic episode, an attack on a political figure etc, and all my logic goes out the window. Let's hope Russia stays in Georgia only for now... etc.I was just trying to put "logic" into perspective in the conversation.

That said, I'm stocked [grin]
