Hello all,

I have a really quick question on transferring a license - I currently have an LTC-A restricted issued but I may have to move to Boston by the end of the year - if I do move into the city, is there any chance that the chief there could refuse to transfer the license and replace it with a class B? Also, if I have to get it renewed while in Boston, will they renew me as an LTC A or is there a chance they can bump me down to a B or FID?

Thanks very much in advance for the advice.

You notify issuing department and new town along with CJIS in writing, sent Certified Mail ONLY per MGL, within 30 days of moving.

Your current LTC is valid until renewal. At time of renewal, it will be renewed by new city/town under their policies, which in Boston means LTC-A/NO concealed carry unless you meet very narrow criteria Boston puts in place.

Don't move to Boston, they are VERY BIG PITA's when it comes to guns.

As Len said if you live there at the time your permit needs renewing, it will have to be done there.
