Buyers are always looking for an edge to knock something off the price. Slightly mismatched fender color on a car; thick girdle or flourescence on a diamond;; service parts on a collectable Rolex; restoration on an antique gun or lack or restoration on an antique car; etc.
Even though it does not affect legality of functionality, astute buyers will notice mismatched numbers and tend to make lower offers.
As to Glocks - If the serial number on the barrel or slide has a single alpha character prefix, it was made as a spare part. Two or more alpha characters and its a part salvaged from another Glock.
