Absolutely beautiful... Just like a 1911, now I have to have one !
Do you mind if I ask how much ?

$600 to your door via CMP for a M1 Garand, SA Service Grade, just some paper work and about 160 days of waiting. It is an amazing deal plus cheap ammo. Also check out the M1 Carbines... (I have one coming soon)

http://www.thecmp.org/m1garand.htm - Check it out!

That is one great looking Garand! If it shoots as good as it looks, that will be icing on the cake! Wish I had bought a few more back in 1989 (cost $160.00). Good luck with it.

Sweet, I got mine july 3rd, although my wood is no where near that nice, barrel and trigger group appear new. And as far as I can tell I have all sprinfield parts.

What year is yours, I got a 55

get them while you can

http://www.thecmp.org/m1garand.htm They only have a few models left to choose from. 180day wait

Get your paper work in order apply for a Credit card with a 1000.00 limit
order your Springfield Service grade(only service grade available at this time)
4 cases of greek ammo comes to 956.00.

Your ammo and rifle wont be seen for 180 days, plenty of time to pay it off before you get it. Also CC is not charged until close to shipping out. Then when your paper is sent in and set up, creat Estore acount and work on your 10case yearly limit of ammo.

Im so tempted yo order a CMP special. or correct grade!!!! or 2 more service grades. jan 1st I order 10 cases!!!!

According to "The M1 Garand: Post World War II" book Springfield made 100,000 M1s between January 1955 and July 1955 starting with 5,793,848 - so I estimate my M1, with serial number 580xxxx, was made January 1955.

Also check out http://www.cromwell-intl.com/garand/spreadsheet.html for a M1 Garand Data Spreadsheet for Springfield Armory built Garands. Help with identifying all the drawing part numbers according to your serial number.

Once you order a rifle, how easy is it to order ammo? I ordered my rifle about a month ago, do I need to submit multiple pages of paperwork for the ammo too?

If your rifle order has been processed (ie you're in the system) you should be able to order from estore. If not then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Is that an original USGI stock or a CMP repro?
Mine came with a repro in November.

It looks real nice whichever it is.

Just out of curiosity, how difficult was it to refinish with the tung oil? Did you have to take apart the entire gun? I have a service grade Garand coming and yours looks so nice maybe I should do the same.
