Handed out a couple hundred flyers today at the tax rally in Boston. Most people were very receptive only got one "no thanks I'm all set with the second amendment".

I've been thinking about this rally coming up on Friday. With yesterday's events I've been wondering if our rally and message on Friday will end up being counterproductive. My meaning is that everyone's attention and feelings will be directed to the attack yesterday. After what was seen on TV yesterday and the immediate response, there is a very high approval and appreciation for Police, Fire, EMT, Volunteers and yes, even the Gov't. Our message would run counter to that. Anti government if you will. If the rally still goes on, I'm going to attend. But I'm worried that we'll actually cause our movement damage by having this rally so close to what just happened. It could backfire on us.
Thoughts?
In a sense, this is a marketing question. From that perspective, it might actually make our side look better to cancel and release a statement saying "Given the recent tragedy in Boston and out of respect to the victims, we are [canceling, postponing] this event."
That said, I realize all the planning and effort that's gone in and doing so is a big deal.
I think the "media" will make us look bad regardless of what we decide. If we hold it, we are heartless. If we cancel or reschedule, we are somehow guilty.
I would prefer a show of solidarity with a message of compassion for the victims. Presuming there is a victim's fund in place by then, let's find a way to support it. Maybe start one.

I tend to agree with this statement. While more than ever I think the message we have is of the utmost importance, The timing might not be right at the moment.
Turn it into a vigil for the victims and America. Don't bash Obama or Congress (we all know they are bad) Focus on preserving the rights of all Americans against the Tyranny that exists to take it from us.
Or run it like the last one and the antis will have some nice soundbites and pictures to continue their crusade against us " RWE" (whom they will be placing the blame on for Mondays events)
Having a child make any short speech and using the word Compassion, the safety of the community, and civic mindedness are keywords for any speakers to use for any on-the-fence Lexingtonian to hear about gun rights.

According to MSM: The terrorists attack us because of our "freedom" We need to tie in the "idea" that one of those freedoms is the RKBA.Keeping the message on our main point will be key. Any anti-gov't / LE rantings and they'll label us as terrorist sympathizers with what they call proof to back it up. It's going to be a fine line we'll be walking and make no mistake about this. We are vying for public support for our cause. With the raw emotions out there now, if this is done right we can win support. Do this wrong and we'll be wasting a huge opportunity to win over the minds of many.
