Last year I asked Four Seasons if I could order a pistol on the formal target shooting list, a High Standard Victor. They said no. Something to the effect that they (FS) are under a lot of scrutiny, it is not worth the hassle for them.

Wow, even being on the list isn't good enough.

Remind me again how laws save lives...

If Carl doesn't want your money, I bet someone else will happily take it.

I see absolutely no basis to complain about any FFL who declines to perform a transfer. sorry but they do not have an obligation to any of us to transfer anything out of state....they are not sworn public servants.

If an FFL outright declines to perform a transfer, I figure that's actually quite respectiable for them to tell me up front. I recently had a big name FFL here in MA accept a firearm for transfer to me, and upon receiving the firearm they refused to transfer it to me because they claim it was the wrong model....regardless of who was right or wrong, their declining = my problem. So i had to have the firearm sent back and situation corrected.....a real PITA.

my point is don't knock FFLs who decline....it's better for them to say no up front than to say yes and screw up your entire week.

It's "fixed" in the most Massachusetts way possible: Add at least 100 words where deleting a handful would do. And if you're ineligible for a FID, possession of pepper spray is still illegal.

True enough. Just like casinos and marijuana. Instead of pulling out the words making them illegal, they add words all around the idea.

But...

"Olympic pistols" should have already been included in "firearms solely designed and sold for formal target shooting competition" which were already excluded.

And to make matters worse, the state is required to make yet another list of Olympic competition pistols, in addition to the "formal target shooting" pistols list.

I think the latter now has *42* pistols listed.

I'd bet a pizza that the Olympic pistols list takes five years to have even a ToZ-35 on it.

I THOUGHT this all sounded familiar.

Mighta had something to do with the Draper case for Comm2A. No legal scrutiny for x amount of time.

i read GOAL's summary of upsides/downsides that went out in the Friday news email. That there was anything positive for gunowners in the bill at all points to immense time and effort by pro-gun citizens and lobby groups, and legislators willing to listen. Consider that a plus to work on.

There should be a sticky thread with names of legislators that helped with the positives and resisted the negatives in this bill. We should send money for next election cycle. They will be targeted by Bloomberg and his billions.

That said, wondering if there's anything in the detail that explicitly changes for Non-resident LTC holders?

That's right. The flip side to electing more pro people and getting rid of antis is to KEEP the ones we have.

Any news on Devalue signing this or not? He has until Thursday or it's dead? Is that correct? Or is the legislature still considered to be "in session"?

He has until Thursday to sign or veto it or it goes into effect without his signature. A rlee says, the legislature is not in recess, it's in informal session. It's a minor, but very important, legal distinction.

The minor difference between the legislature being in formal and informal sessions is that right now they aren't actively writing terrible laws.

So you're saying they write terrible laws during their off time, too? [laugh]

Would be funny if it wasn't completely true!

The leg. is always in session; just informal right now.

Thank you for clearing that up for me!
