Ct. State Police Receive Their Notice

There are movements in NY and CA about splitting the states into red and blue regions. People are getting tired of the tyranny of the minority. The next best thing to a civil war.

There's a sizable number of people in this country who just simply don't "get it" IMHO.

They are the advocates for tyranny. The argue incessantly for laws against guns, and drunk driving , and drug use, and fornication, and homosexuality, and child abuse, and modifying your own house, and exhaust systems on cars, and motorcycles, and well the list goes on and on and on.

You can see all the evidence you need of this behavior over in the drunk driving thread. There's a constant stream of people showing up here on NES who would like nothing better than to have the government going around stomping on this, that, and the other thing.

Yet they somehow think they're going to keep their guns.

These people are SERIOUSLY delusional.

And it's not getting any better in this country. The socialist minded are just working towards grabbing more and more and more. They see no problem with the government running your healthcare, taking your retirement accounts, taking your guns, monitoring your cars, monitoring the temperature of your house - and watching where your money goes.

Unless people start pushing back in some form or fashion - it's going to continue to get worse. But from what can see - most people can't or won't even push back in the one single place where it all starts: inside their own goddam heads.

If they can't push back inside their own heads - then all is lost.

I've been on here for years berating people for the anti-liberty bullshit inside their heads. I don't often see much effect.

As I get older - I give less and less of a shit. In fact I have learned to take some amount of pleasure in seeing people get abused - for things they rightly deserve to be abused for. The alternative is to just be pissed off all the goddam time at the way this country is going and the ignorance of the people who are driving it there.

This is where we disagree. While Malloy will try to come up with some face-saving gesture, I expect it to be just that. A lot of bluster, a few token arrests, and that's about it. Any poor sap who gets caught up in the justice system will get hammered, of course, but Hartford isn't going to be Kiev.

Time will tell.

This is a great point. While the DPS-3 and the transfer database is inaccurate, which I've explained in an earlier post. There were thousands of guns sold on THE DAY the ban went into effect.

Stag Arms, bless their souls, started shipping ONLY to CT dealers, direct, when the ban was unveiled a few days before it was voted on and signed.

The state could make the case that this transfer info is accurate and actionable. Especially the guns sold the day the ban went into effect. (Malloy signed around noon. The ban went into effect either at noon or at midnight that night, I can't remember which. Either way, some guns were sold the day of the ban. It is HIGHLY unlikely that these guns were transferred out.

There is another small group of low hanging fruit. The way these kinds of laws are interpreted is that the word "possess" refers to constructive possession. So if you purchased a gun on backorder prior to the law, dealers were allowed to deliver the AW after the ban date. The DESPP confirmed that they agreed with this interpretation.

This was very relevant beacause of the massive shortages at the time. So hundreds, maybe thousands of AWs were LAWFULLY transferred after the ban date. Because any subsequent transfer (other than an out of state sale) would be illegal or trackable, the state definitely has actionable info on that group.

However, for the vast majority of owners, who purchased weeks, months or years prior to the ban, there's nothing they can do.

I guess it will. The opinion as to whether or not Malloy has egg on his face will be in the eye of the beholder. Those who support him and the ilk who think anti-firearm laws are the way to go will look upon him as the poor governor who was snubbed by the minority of citizens in this state; "how dare they ignore "the law" and don't register. They deserve what they get!" They'll support him in anything he decides even if it's not within his perview as governor. Like Obama, he will most probably issue some edict expecting us to follow.....or else. His problem, like Obama's problem, is that there isn't much teeth behind his "or else" bravado. He'll be drawing lines in the proverbial sand (snow in our case) and challenging us to cross it. I just hope he runs again.

Exactly. There isn't much behind his "or else." Even if he could get enough evidence to identify those breaking the law, is he really going to send SWAT teams across the state trying to arrest 100,000 citizens? He doesn't have the police, prosecutors, or jail space to do so. He might have the staties make some token raids, pour encourage les autres. But I don't see that he has the resources to do anything widespread, even if he wanted to.

Well, we live in interesting times.

I could see some high profile raids on people who they know have AWs and didn't register, followed by an amnesty period.

Many will probably register then because they don't understand that the state can't act on a purchase record from 2 years ago.

Dan will declare victory with a 50% compliance rather than 10% and will move on.

I could see that happen, but I think the compliance rate would likely be 15% rather than 10% and he would still try to find a way to declare victory. I certainly could be wrong. Time will tell.

As I mentioned before, this guy could be a Braveheart. His actions could spark a Spartacus moment. When the Feds failed to enact sweeping gun control after SH, they tried using the states and even though they managed to flip politicians in a couple of moonbat states, they got a lot of pushback from the public and law enforcement in those states. Other states pushed back by relaxing their gun laws. The first casualties were suffered by the antis in CO which stunned the anti movement. Hopefully the real bloodbath will come this Nov with the battlefield littered with the political careers of the Bloomturd asslickers.

Then there is New Hampshire. The full court press is on up there. Hopefully, they can stop it or at least stem the tide. The way the votes are going, it looks like 50-50.

Sad part is, most people don't even know who AS was. Education is another battleground entirely, but one that might be just as important these days.

I confess I had to google him.

Look what happened in Canada. Eventually, the cost did them in. CT is hurting for money right now. Point THAT out!

There's multiple ways to bury the enemy. Making them go broke is definitely high up on the list.

I've argued this before about the MA registration laws: While they now know what you have - this presents a problem for them. Because if they KNOW what you have - and you refuse to turn it in - now they've got a shit-show on their hands because they will have (more than likely) -made a bunch of proclamations and passed a bunch of laws - and now that nobody is obeying they either have to force the issue , or back down.

This is why I have constantly said that the shit inside your own head is where the REAL battleground is. Because if every single gun owner across the state - on that day when they say hand them in - refuses - and tells them to **** off....... well then now the government has NO way to declare victory if they don't go out and get them all.

It's different in CT - because they don't know. In MA - they do. But that puts them in a corner too.

How much would it cost the state - in money and other things - to go on a confiscation spree if NOBODY complied?

I think it would likely break them.

But as soon as your neighbor or friend goes down willingly - the state starts to win.

Just an aside and my opinion:

The best Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn book to start with: "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" Literally one day in the life of this man in a gulag put there by the Germans during WWII. Amazing true-to-life descriptions. Relatively easy to read, too, once you get the hang of the names.

Agree, I know if they pass so much as no more F2F transfers - I'm done with them, I tried to be reasonable, but they keep moving the goal post. I may just go to NH and get a bunch of PMAGs, un-pin my AR's and stick some Flash Hiders on.

I know my buddy (EX-Airborne) won't comply, my Father-in-Law won't, and many other folks from the Sportsman's Club's won't either.

Force the state to do something or repeal the whole mess, don't give them a 'compromise' we've come too far from 'Shall Not Be Infringed' - not another step.

People simply won't even contemplate how to fight back it seems.

NES has been populated for years with people bitching about how we can't get rid of the government because we wouldn't have roads, or schools, or we'd get invaded by the Chinese, or the Russians, or the North Koreans.

When shit happens like the Boston bombing - people willingly let black clad stormtrooper teams invade their homes without warrants because "there might be somebody in there".

Think a minute about how utterly retarded that is. You don't know there might be somebody IN YOUR OWN HOME? Seriously? And even if there was - you can't DEFEND YOUR OWN HOME?

Think about the implications of that on liberty. People have literally admitted that they need the government to invade the homes they live in because they are utterly incapable of even knowing what is going in within their own home. This is the world of the founding fathers turned on it's head. Constitutional rights are pretty much gone completely in a country full of people like this. The second amendment is under constant attack - and only continues to have life because it's basically come down to a test of wills - not any acknowledgement that there are fundamental rights in play here.

Now we're seeing the first amendment under direct attack with the Obama administration's attempt thru the FCC to monitor what news stations are saying. Not that they really have to - but the intent is clear.

So the government as a whole (both state and federal) - is walking what seems to a very clearly defined road: tyranny.

And people talk about gun confiscation as part of that. But I don't see very many people actually thinking this out - at all. When that Westford selectman was trying to get a town assault weapons bill passed - I made a number of points to anybody who would listen:

If the intent of the law is to get rid of the assault weapons in town because you are making the assertion that they are responsible , you must do the following:

1) Have people turn them in ( this was part of the proposed bylaw)

2) Understand that some people will not turn them in - so you're going to have to go after every person in town who has one and go get it.

3) Understand that if a person has a Class A license - they can just buy another one, so you're actually going to have to no longer issue class A licenses in Westford

4) Understand that no more Class A licenses means no more concealed carry or pistol ownership in a lot of cases, because the only license level you can really issue is FID if you want to be safe from people owning "assault weapons" you really cannot allow people to own anything that might be legal on a Class A or even Class B license.

5) Understand that there are people in town who likely use their LTC to defend their lives - like women with abusive ex-husbands. You are now putting their lives in direct danger

6) Understand that POLICE can no longer own personal "assault weapons" either - because one of their children may get hold of it and go on a rampage (department owned rifles only - and kept at the station)

7) Understand that even if you do all of the above - I can still build an "assault weapon" by buying an 80% receiver and an upper - all legally and completely without any license WHATSOEVER.

8) Understand that because of point #7 - the only way you're going to truly be safe from "assault weapons" in town - is to ban the machinery by which people can make them also. That means no more home shops with drill presses and mills.

9) Understand that to enforce all of this - you must do REGULAR police searches to make sure nobody is breaking the law.

10) Understand that somewhere in town there is at least one little old lady whose husband passed away a decade or more ago - who has a bunch of WW2/Korea/ Vietnam bring-backs up in her attack that were never registered - and are just waiting to be discovered by her grandchildren when they come to help here clean the house out as he gets ready to go into a home.

11) Understand that #10 means that to truly be free of "assault weapons" in Westford - the police are going to have to search each and EVERY house - top to bottom. And probably keep doing it on a regular basis.

12) Understand that if you do not do all of the above - then the proposed law is a ****ing joke and will accomplish NOTHING of any real value - based on the original assertion that "assault weapons" are to blame.

My point here is: how many people are willing to lay this kind of stuff out - and talk about REALITY. How many gun owners are willing to stand on principle and make sure that all of the above points come back to bite the town in the ass?

I think this is why we keep losing in this country. There's far too many people who are just simply unwilling to talk about the truth - and unwilling to actually do something about it. When it comes right down to it they'll either roll over - or they actually LIKE having a big government - so they'll take the abuse.

I think your right. Our side as a whole are very law abiding and are afraid to go where it will inevitably need to go. I admit fully that Im in that boat but I also believe there is a point that will push people over the edge, Im just not sure where that point is yet. I know Im mad ass hell but am I ready to swap a life of legality for a life of criminality and being uncomfortable? Not on my own, im not and that's the problem. If I knew that I had tens of thousands of my brothers and sisters there to fight with me it would be one thing but being an army of one will get you a crazy gun owner label and a fast track to jail.

Well you see that right there is part of the problem.

WHY do you obey the law? Do you obey the law because "it's the law" - or do you obey the law because it has some higher moral purpose.

This is another meme you hear repeated all the time here on NES: "without the law we'd have anarchy and we'd all go crazy!"

Again - think about that for a second. So the person who makes this assertion is trying to tell me that basically without the constant threat of severe injury, imprisonment or death hanging over his head - he's just going to go nuts?

Think about how truly ****ed up that is for a second.

And then go back and read some history books for a good demonstration on how completely full of bullshit that assertion is too.

There's been plenty of times and places thruout history when "government" was minimal and people still managed to find a way to live together without any problems.

People who make assertions like this remind me of people I've talked to over the years who when the subject turns to guns they come out and say something really stupid like: " I wouldn't trust myself with a gun - I'd get pissed off at somebody in traffic and shoot them" - or some other equally ignorant comment.

Again - think about what the implications are to liberty with a world filled up with people like that. They have admitted that they utterly cannot control themselves and therefore they WELCOME government interference into their lives.

They can't control what's in their own heads - and they apparently can't control what they do with their own hands.

How the **** do we ever expect to ever keep ANY liberty at all in a world filled up with people like that - WHO VOTE.???

This is why I say that the problem is not the government - it's all the *******s all around you that are the problem. The government is just a reflection in large part of the "will of the people".

There used to be people in Massachusetts who understood this:

http://www.beliefnet.com/resourceli...s_to_the_Officers_of_the_First_Brigade_1.html
because we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, • would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Fix your own shit people - or shut the **** up and accept what is coming.

It will radicalize the rest of the gun owners, if that hasn't happened already.

I personally know two ex-Fudds, my father is one of them. He used to say things like "why do you need more than 15 rounds" and there's nothing wrong with background checks or licensing requirements".

Then post Newtown he and my friend realized that the antis end game is not just "common sense reform" but prohibition and confiscation.

Both of them have been converted into NRA life members who have lost any and all willingness to compromise. They, and thousands of other CT residents have finally seen the danger of incrementalism.

Calsdad is exactly right in the last two posts. This is why we (2a collectively) compromise every time. This very site showed those willing to register and comply with whatever bullshit the state comes up with, constitutional or not. They are afraid to give up short term luxuries so they sell themselves and all future generations down river. Everyone has excuses as to why they can't /won't do anything about it. The truth scares them and they start making excuses to make themselves feel good. I'm reality they will be caught up in the same shit except they have a bullseye on their back and they're less able to defend themselves.

But it hey as long as the grocery store has good and the Tv still works it's easier to no think about it or comply.

Sadly it takes actually losing something big to see what was actually at stake in the first place. That is where CT is at today.

some converted in february when a rep introduced a bill that would limit CT residents to single shot muskets, like they had in 1789.

more converted this fall when they went to buy ammo for their bolt action deer guns or shot guns and found out that they needed an ammunition permit.

The ammo permit spanking definitely woke some fudds as they don't like their regular routines disturbed, you know, go buy the quarterly box of ammo at their outing at Cabelas. Now they have to get a permit to enjoy that outing.
Hope they wake the **** up because Joe Biden wants their shotgun.

I actually had a fudd friend ask me to buy him ammo. I don't think it would have actually been illegal, since there isn't really any straw purchase law in place, but I refused out of principal. He ended up driving to the gun and dive shop in Westerly RI

This is a perfect example of why I welcome governmental abuse on the populace at large.

No government exists without the consent of the people. Not even the Nazis and not even the Commies. Somehow, somewhere the government is drawing support and sustenance from some crucial percentage of the people. They either survive or die depending on whether the remainder either just goes along - or decides to actively oppose them.

And opposing them does not have to mean shooting it out in the streets. It means not supporting them. When the government says: " hand in your guns" - and NOBODY shows up to do it - that is direct opposition.

FIFY.

Right now, 351 cities and towns in MA are doing their budgets. Go to the Finance Committee meetings and speak up. I guess CT must have a somewhat similar process.

I just finished reading through Bob Crooks email (from the CCS) and found all of the links inspiring to say the least. I can't recall in my lifetime when so many citizens were inclined to ignore the government's edits on such a huge scale and short timeline. For those of you who many not be on his list, I've attached the part about registration to this post so you can read them at your leisure. The news here is not so much that so many are flaunting the law, it's that the State has NO WAY of knowing who, precisely, to go after if they do decided to prosecute. Their information is not accurate and most certainly no complete due to the fact that FTF sales have distributed rifles to tens of thousand over the years without State intervention or paperwork. I would have most certainly wished I was fly on the wall when Malloy's general's informed him of the lack of subservience to the whims of the state. (Think of that scene that is repeated so many times on YouTube where they dub in words for Hitler screaming at his generals! That would be hilarious!) I can see him struggling to get the swears out demanding compliance at all cost. Call out the State Police! Call out the Guard! I want them all arrested and jailed!......spitting his words out.

Anyway this bodes well for us. It most certainly sent a "shot across the bow" to all those politicians who voted for this crap. I'd love to see one try to weasel out of the way he/she voted when publicly challenged. " I had to vote for it in order to change it " won't fly anymore.

About time.

There's a very serious push in MA for COPs to require LTCs as a condition of employment, despite laws that allow carry without one.

Save all the "some animals" arguments; this is really a way to end run due process in firing decisions by simply finding officers "unsuitable". You guys might get your wish of police unions coming out against gun laws sooner than you think.

Is this department by department? The one I work in, the ltc is a condition of employment.

I would say no door to door is needed, they'll just create laws that say , you need to pay your excise tax? well, they check the records, you didn't turn in your weapon, you can't register your vehicle, or you can't pay your taxes, or renew your license or something. Like it or not, if you live in MA, you have to do commerce with them at some point for the most part. So, it would just be a matter of time for them to wait you out. Maybe over the course of 5 years they get most of what they want. Build the law like that from the beginning and you declare victory from day one. It's not about safety it's about control.
