"active shooter" situation reported at Colorado HS

I grew up in Dorchester with some really tough kids. A lot are dead or in jail... or they work for the police or fire departments.

But my point is fists flew frequently. Seems like someone was always swinging at someone. Broken noses, teeth and knuckles were common. But rarely did anyone use a knife and shootings were very, very rare.

What has changed? Certainly firearms were easier to obtain back in those days. No licenses required in MA. No storage requirements.

Yeah, guns were around, but not in abundance.

So why today has society in our country evolved into a place where people reach for a firearm so frequently?
it seems to not happen in inner cities, but more in middle class and better schools, probably more mainstreaming of special ed students which exposes them to bullies, plus all these meds/ going off of meds situation seem to be another common factor.

What do we have now that wasn't available then? Internet? Video games? Instant news from all around the world? Any info about any topic at your fingertips.

Nowadays any ******* can watch the news and see all the terrible things people do (because thats all you seem to see on the news) and say "I'm gonna do that and then I'll be on the news for months too"

Instead of being outside until the streetlights come on, kids are sitting on their asses checking Facebook and twitter.

A day short of a year since sandy hook because tomorrow is a Saturday, maybe?

Nah - because tomorrow's weather would eclipse the anniversary stories.

The bulk of the violent crime in this country continues to be committed by inner-city "youths" - these highly-publicized events (themselves products of "gun-free zones") are black swans.

If you look at it with the aspect that these shooters want to do something thats remembered, and the fact that the antis fixate on the shootings, it gives the these ass holes who are looking for a way to do something to be immortalized for, a real way to do that.

Its horrible to think but Even if there name is not mentioned, its still a big deal for them to think they may be creating a memorial day thats remembered forever out of it, is a big deal to thouse sick ass holes still

And the antis do not help this one bit, Instead of looking at the real problem, the antis look at the end result of the bigger picture and think, Well if we ban this it will never happen again, and just let everyone believe there safe,

but in reality there is still that ticking time bomb of a person just waiting to go off becase the root of the problem never was addressed

yup it will be all about the guns, not the sick sonna of a b raised by lib parents, stuffed with ritalin and taking mandatory conflict resolution and anti-bullying classes

Piers Morgan makes me sick.

I have my family christmas party tomorrow night, where half of the attendees are democrat. This should be fun.

Anti - "Ban Assault Shotguns!!! You know the ones that have the death tube clip filled with round after round of death. "

Fudd - "Gee other then that black stuff it sounds alot like my deer gun"

Anti - "We dont want your gun we just want common sense"

Fudd - "It still sounds like my deer gun"

2 weeks later deer gun gets rolled into some knee jerk legislation and banned.

The better question is what did we have back then that we don't have now? And the answer is today we don't have guns in schools. Students, teachers, administrators, and visitors are all prohibited from possessing guns on school property. In inner cities, it is more likely that an armed police officer will be at the school, than in suburbs and rural areas. In a place where there's a good guy (or good guys) with a gun, the odds of success for the bad guy go way down.

The people who carry out these types of attacks aren't brave or strong. They don't want to be confronted by someone on equal terms. They want all the power, and they can't have that if someone else is armed.

I'm kind of torn on this. I can see that we don't want to cede the field to the antis by ignoring it, but at the same time, in a nation of over 300 million people, these things are going to happen. It's ridiculous that we have to be on the defensive every time something crazy happens, but I guess there's no way around it.

And, generally speaking, parents were a lot more involved with their kids.

I guess demonizing the mentally ill is out the window now isn't it?

I've been saying it all along, sane people are more dangerous (to others) than the mentally ill, who are more of a danger to themselves (suicide).

Not discounting the possibility that he could have been suffering from an undiagnosed mental illness, but from all accounts it doesn't sound like it. It sounds like he was a regular kid who flipped the F out.

Hah! this does confirm my suspicion that the actual nutjobs are the lefties

Pierson also appears to mock Republicans on another Facebook post, writing "you republicans are so cute" and posting an image that reads: "The Republican Party: Health Care: Let 'em Die, Climate Change: Let 'em Die, Gun Violence: Let 'em Die, Women's Rights: Let 'em Die, More War: Let 'em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?"

GOD DAMN RIGHT ITS THE SIDE I WANT TO BE ON.

"At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats." ~Rourke

If true, imagine how these 'adults' will react when they don't received the promotion they think they deserve. Or get kicked under the bus, like everyone else.

I wish it did, but it only confirms THIS particular nutjob was.

Now, I certainly BELIEVE that all Socialists are twisted up in the head, but this doesn't prove it.

Because we have a nation of spoiled pussy little brats with no idea of personal responsibility or sense of honor. These incidents are just large scale temper tantrums by shitheads.

still the thing is the antis do not even seem care about helping the mentaly ill, and possibly stoping another tragedy, all there doing is trying to take the gus out of the equation and don't seem to care that there still leving mentaly ill people to continue on as they were with no help, and as we all know a determined person will get what they want, so nothing is solved or prevented

Exactly! The storm is coming, these snotty brats are going to grow up and find themselves in the real world soon...
