2019 Panic Buying

Now the rumors are flowing.

OK, now where did I put that tinfoil...

Bump stock, AR pistol, what's next? Watch, some dumfuq is going to do something heinous with a Barrett despite the fact that the ridiculously heavy 50 BMG has never been used to commit a crime. Either a Barrett or that shoulder thing that goes up.

Waiting for all the false outrage and MSM rhetoric over AR pistols. "What, people actually have THOSE? They are not against the LAW?"

Worth noting that he never killed anyone with that rifle, or came close to doing so. I think he might have punched out a motor on a vehicle or two though.

I’m guessing that’s at least frowned apron but more than likely a crime

every buy is a panic buy after looking at my checking balance.

This. But I have to ask. How can I be so broke, I still have checks left?

I'm a simpleton, I go to WallyWorld like others go to Cumby's (its literally an extra 1/4 mile), get bread, water, whatever, and go to the "sports department" to checkout my food along with a box of ammo. Mrs. A73elkyss either hasn't caught on yet, or what is most likely the case as she is much smarter than I, she knows and ignores it. She doesn't ask about ammo, and I don't ask about shoes (talk about hoarding). Just sayin...

Anyone looking for day labor? My rates are as follows;

.223/5.56- 50 rds/hr
9mm fmj- 75 rds/hr
9mm HP- 30 rds/hr
12 ga. slugs or buck- 20 rds/hr
no stinkin target loads, #4 or 5 birdshot considered if high-brass game loads.
.22LR *mini-mag only- 200 rds/hr Winchester Super-X also accepted(my wife likes the plastic boxes for makeup organization)

Edit- Will also accept .308, rate dependent on manufacture and projectile type. Some of that core-lokt/power point stuff is pricey!

LOL forgot about that. I don't recall any specific evidence of firing the 50 but he had it during the rampage.

That's like saying there is nothing prudent about buying fire or health insurance if you don't have a claim exceeding the premium.
Yeah I know hindsight is 20-20, still bugs the shit out of me though tbh. I'd feel better if it was some CCI.

Why does this always start up when I'm in need of expensive things, like truck tires.

Grr.

I was budgeting buying a .308 or 6.5 Cr in September. (Bolt action and 500 rounds. )

Probably will stack up on 7.62x39 and 5.56 instead.

Nothing should ever be done due to panic anything, if it is you’ve been doing it wrong all along.

I’ll also never understand people’s need to list online, much more-so these days, about all of their stock or supplies.

You inevitably get several posters trying to outdo each other with their entire list, still thinking it’s funny or that it moves them up the cool guy list of a forum by stating how much ammo they’re stocking or whatever.

Especially these days, the only thing you’re actually accomplishing is being moved to the top of the list for the Feds to start digging into you to see if you’re nuts or not, and if they decide you are, good luck to you.

POTUS said it this morning, the internet will be f***ing scoured looking for flags of anything that seem not right (to them).

The days of internet Wild West are long gone, now it’s internet hugely invasive investigative tool and the major suspects are legal gun owners as far as any of them are concerned.

Loose lips sink ships MF’s. Just my .02, all the online tough guys always posting threatening messages if anyone comes for their guns and Molon Labe and all that BS, stupid, immature and shows a complete lack of situational awareness for society today. You may as well just call and turn yourself in for being a future threat because that’s what they’ll see all day long.

Shitty? Of course it is, but it’s an unfortunate reality right now.
Spot on

Stocked on components for 357 and 44 mag though it wouldn't hurt to get more 44 bullets...

Now that my recipes have stabilized, I've started to try to get my powder, primer, and bullet stocks to line up with one another. Making sure I have enough primers to cover the bullets I have is straightforward (I don't, but I'm not far off). I'm good on powder for 38 special, light 357M, and 45C (moderate "Ruger only" loads). I'm definitely light on H110/W296 for 44M and full-power 357M. That's bothering me a little, but we aren't talking about anything I'd notice inside of 2 years if stocks dry up. Really, I'm less worried about stocks drying up than I am about this state harassing mail-order sources to the point where they all just say "Screw it. Not shipping to MA."

IF I was stockpiling ammo, I would be also thinking about how to transport said ammo quickly to free states in a hurry if need be.

One essential would be a trailer hitch crane hoist (for quick pallet handling), and the other would be water proof gasketed tubes for burial.
I am no metal detector expert, but I think if you go deep enough, they will not pick up anything.

Also, I know not everyone has a 3/4 ton truck to accept pallets of ammo- just brainstorming!

Quick check of targetsports seems like plenty of 223 but only a few choices of x39 and 2 of them are brass cased. I kind of see 223 as the canary in the coal mine so I think so far we're ok.

ETA- one option for steel cased 762x39 and maybe 10 or so options for brass cased. Multiple pages of 9mm and 45acp in stock.

Awesome - never thought of doing that, but that’s [beeping] awesome.

No kidding. I just did a track day at Lime Rock on a set of tires that were nearing the end of their street/daily use car and completely murdered them. $1,600 later, I have new tires at my mechanic’s place (wife won’t let me buy my own machine and balancer) waiting to be put on at the end of next week.

We've all been through this many times.
I feel the panic buying thing is for all the newbs who've just got their LTC's in the past 2 or so years.

I sleep on a mattress full of ammo.

Post Newtown, there must have been a billion new LTC'ers. I unloaded a bunch of stuff for well-above-market prices. It was a seller's market.

I recall buying shitty 22lr for $0.11/rd prior to the election. In hind sight, aint nothing prudent about that.

Given the info you had at the time, it was prudent. You didn't know. Although it is .22lr, so. . . .

To add to the list of practical stuff other than guns, uppers, and ammo, for the guns you want to shoot a lot and never want to go without it's good to own a lifetime supply of mags, as well as spare parts - duplicate versions of uppers you really like, barrels, parts kits, BCGs...Best bought on sale of course.

The gun grabbers would ban parts if they could find a way. In ban states today a new BCG, spring of whatever type, or barrel is just a short drive away. If they all become ban states spare parts might be perfectly legal to own but may not be available anymore.
