Zero Hour Arms

I will have to chime in one more time as well, I recently exchanged an item there and I thought they were quite fair in working with me. The difference I had to eat was understandable due to more than a month going by, and I did finally figure out what I wanted and am happy. They were friendly and treated me with patience and respect. That is worth a lot in my book.

I made my way down for a Saiga 12. It was my first time there. The place is awesome! Everyone was great including the guys hanging around the shop. I know I will be spending a lot of money there!

can someone tell me if they accept credit cards or are they cash/check only shop. Sounds like a place I need to visit, having exactly zero long guns in my collection (sofar)

THX Pete, Im glad and sad to hear that. If you had told me they were cash only I would have had to SAVE the money FIRST ). Now I can go there and just buy!

Took my first trip there, thought i fell off massachusetts and landed somewhere in Uganda!!! Thank god I had backup to keep me from buying one of EVERYTHING!! The selection is mind boggling for rifles and long guns of all types including shotguns. Handguns are a hit or miss, with favors to glock, HK, and Wheelguns. All in all, there is something there for EVERY taste. Jim behind the counter was not a bit antisocial, he was very cordial, welcomed me and my buddy and encouraged us to look and touch, and ask if it was behind glass. The dog was inquisitive, and immediately felt at home dropping to her side to get her stomach rubbed, then promptly went to sleep on some ammo cans ( how cool a dog is that). The girls were more well behaved than most young ladies I know, and there was a steady stream of customers. There was this VOICE in the back that we occasionally heard from among the sounds of hammers, drills, dremel tools and the like, but the ogre aparently was deep in his work, we never saw him :O) . I'll be back, Ill be buying and Im a return customer for anything exotic.

Picked up my lower finally. They've got a lot of neat stuff there that I haven't seen other places. Thanks for hooking me up with that A2 stock.

Just thought I would toss in my 2 cents on ZHA. One always wonders when you go into a new gun shop if its one of those places which caters to its small circle of 'insiders' and everyone else can either buy now...or get out - ZHA is NOT one of those. The first time I walked in (following another customer), a hearty "Hi Ed! and Hi New Guy" rang out from Marc behind the counter. Both Jim ad Marc are friendly and very knowledgeable on the stuff they sell. More than a couple of times I've been headed out the door but caught up listening to one of the staff explain to another customer the finer details between a Chinese AK47 versus a Easter European version or features on a new line of tactical flashlights.
Great bunch of guys, outstanding selection of rare firearms and enormous knowledge base there. Where they do machining / manufacturing - they have a good sense of build quality and the workings inside those nickel plated finishes.

The downside? You'll be tempted to dip into your retirement fund and the driveway leading to the shop is best suited for a lunar lander moon buggy.

Yup, and that sofa isn't just for "regulars" . . . you can get too comfy in that shop and it will cost you, big time! [laugh2]

Great bunch of guys and as you said, they really know their stuff on the technical side.

As for the poor excuse for a road . . .

- It looks like the results of a bombing run in 'Nam or Iraq!

- There is a "back way" in over paved roads. Go in thru Bristol Drive (Bristol Industrial Park) off Rte 123 and park on the side of the building. Saves destroying the undercarriage of a standard car. Leave the bombed our road (Renker Dr) to those with 4-wheel drive that really need to test it out.

That couch cost me $$$ yesterday. I'd passed on Jim's offer on a pistol, but after 3 hours to mull it over, I accepted it.[smile][rolleyes]

As for Renker Dr., It's been smoothed out some. I kind of liked the challege in my escort to not lose the car in some of the old puddles.[smile]

Marc has one of the best looking Remington Rand 1911A1 specimens I've ever seen. He spent some time going over some of the finer details with me the other day. Man, I was really tempted despite the hefty $1600 pricetag.

Thanks LenS for the secret back way into the Batcave!

I figured the ZHA folks liked that 'last firebase' look with the mortar fire craters surrounding them.

NOTHING beats heading up there after a good rain. My F-250 loves heading down that road and getting mud over the roof. BTW Jim, I know your watching and Im PATIENTLY waiting for my GSG-5..... for now .)

I'm a new customer to the store too. I've been there twice in the past week or so. The people there are terrific, very friendly and chatty. I picked up a new AK yesterday. It is perhaps a little higher priced than elsewhere but the prices are going up.

I could easily lose a lot of money to that store though. That $4400 50BMG gun sitting there... teasing me. And I had a look at that FN PS90... cute little thing, and I had no idea that such guns even existed. I'm in love. But I can't afford to part with $2000 at this time (and who knows how much that ammo costs). Must.... resist....

Anyone from Zero Hour or familiar with the shop Check this thread? Reason I ask is because I'd like to install a muzzle brake on a WASR-10 that has a nut welded on the end. Because of this I do not know if there are threads under the nut or not. If not, it will need to be threaded and since I've had good experiences shopping here and it is close by I was wondering if this could be done here.

Thanks.

If they can't do it contact JDL sales. He pinned/welded a muzzle brake on my WASR-10.

Went for the first time today. Not buying a gun, actully buying pepper spray. Walked out with the spray, 3 AR mags and some followers.

Service - excellent. Was made to feel at home right away.

As noted, lots of military style guns with emphasis on Eastern Bloc. Plenty of AR's, lots of AK mags. Not much left of the AR mags and what was there were in 'eh' shape but I bought some anyway - restoration project. Lots of wolf ammo. Not a fan of the Wolf as I shoot an AR and it don't like-a the steel.

Prices seemed average.

Mainly I went because I met some of the guys at the Car shoot in Westwood and wanted to check out the store. I'll go back.

Every damn time I go in I end up walking out a little less wealthy ... yesterday it was to the tune of one VERY PRETTY 30 cal M-1 Carbine. Mark damn near had me walking out with a romanian ak with synthetic furniture, and there was a dragnov in the front of the store on the roundell that I would have walked off with too were it not for the vicious trigger relief needed to get my finger to where i could reach it. I still havent even finished Paying for my GSG 5... and I bought a 30 cal... that friggin dog is dangerous.. shes so cute.. must be why i cant leave without something in my hands besides my wallet.

FhvnLT4A, you may need to join my support group. We meet at ZHA and spend money to support Jim and Marc's hobbies.[smile]

I go every Friday or Sat and rarely walk out empty handed.

I went to ZHA for the second time today. That place is great! Knowledgeable and friendly staff and everything I could ever want[smile]

stoneypete I may need to join your support group[laugh] Last time I went there to pick up my nes lower and pay my transfer fee....almost a grand later I walked out with more stuff than I could carry

Just was there this afternoon and walked out with a Barrett M468 and an FNH FS2000. Super staff and great overall experience, will definitely be back.

Bah... wusses. My little Hyundai Accent handles Renker Drive just fine. [wink]
