Walmart Framingham No Ammo!

I don't mean this as something personal to anyone. But I've never understood why some of you guys get your panties in a wad over things like this. There are plenty of small business owners who would love your business (even if you have to pay 50 cents more a box). Walmart and Dicks have never done anything for you except to expedite the demise of local gun stores.[sad2]

I buy when I need and what ever is closest. Today I was on rte 9 in Framingham so it was a no brainer to hit Dicks and/or Walmart. Im helping the guy out who maybe was on his way tonight to that Walmart in Framingham by telling him they're out.

" I will escort you out, I dont want you shooting up the place" then she literally walked us out the front doors.
Maybe we should run a poll to chose the best comeback:

(A) You know, only a fool would have used up every round of ammo before going out to buy more.

(B) Am I allowed back in the store after about 3 minutes?

N.B. Neither is a threat.

I have heard walmart in framingham was empty, bellingham was emptied out overnight i have heard raynham was empty as well. I wonder if they are stopping selling in ma? On the bright side American eagle .380 ball ammo was just over 10 bucks a box the night i dropped in the one in framingham. Scored 6 boxes

In regards to the dealers, there are more than a few out there who sell very close to the big box store prices, holliston firearms and acme armament spring to mind. And there are others who WAY overcharge, I was in one shop who was asking 180.00 for a 250 pack of Remington UMC! Shop around

I have never been asked for ID buying ammo at Walmart in CT or NH..

Perhaps that is because MA requires a license to buy or possess ammo whereas CT and H does not.

" I will escort you out, I dont want you shooting up the place" then she literally walked us out the front doors

I wonder if she would use that line on a minority purchaser of ammo?

My problem with FS is that they tell me one price on the phone and it's always a buck a box more expensive when I get there. What's that all about?

It's about a need to ask for Carl and get it straightened out. They do not intentionally do business this way.

There are Wally Worlds in MA that carry ammo?

I checked the current FFL database and I can't find any Wal Mart FFLs in MA (there used to be a bunch). I also listed all in Framingham or Natick - the ones I expected in those towns showed up in the query (iincluding Dicks), but no WaklMarts.

Regarding Framingham and ammo, a few of us have posted in the Wal-Mart thread recently that they haven't had any in a while. At least they still have some supplies at reasonable prices.

It's about a need to ask for Carl and get it straightened out. They do not intentionally do business this way.

It isn't intentional, but I've had two cases in the past month where I've gotten different prices in store.

1. the gun scrubber they have the sale on right now. The guy who rang me up didn't know it was buy one get one free.

2. I was quoted $30 by the guy showing me a 10/22 for a FFL transfer. Carl chimed in and said it was $40.

Sorry to go off topic...

Where on Earth do you come up with "50 cents more a box?"?

Because I was in a hurry last week, I stopped by the LGS to pick up some .45ACP. Winchester White Box. Because I bought 200 rounds, the owner "gave me a discount," and only charged me $51.98/100 rounds. In case you need help with the math, that's $19.01 more per 100 rounds than Walmart. So much for supporting those "small business owners who would love my business." Never again, and I don't give a shit how much of a hurry I'm in. The very next day I made time to stop by Walmart and pick up a comfortable margin until the BBT gets here.

Shop local is a nice warm furry for folks, but the reality is, who wants to be the dope that spends an extra $20 a box just so they can say that? It's like the retards I see at the Union Square Farmer's Market, women's stretch pants on the boys, spandex on the girls, everyone lining up to ding their trust fund $25 for a frozen chicken, all because it was local, and raised "humanely". Idiots - want humane? Kill it yourself.

Shop local when it makes sense, and it's for a quickly expiring commodity, such as aquaria, but for anything that can be mail ordered play the costs. Simple as that. For those that want to talk service - it has value, but not enough to justify what was shown above.

wal-mart in oxford last night had practically nothing for ammo and no one working that desk. not much for shooting supplies either, nothing for archery. some targets and a couple scopes. picked up a 4 pistol travel box (made in USA) for $10 on closeout. looks like they are phasing out shooting supplies? im gonna stop in putnam, ct tonight. i wanna take my stepson shooting this weekend (1st time) and need some bulk .22's & cheap .17hmr.

I think the broken locks are just an excuse. As I said, I got ammo but they had to go "out back" to get it

It wasn't the lock that broke at the Walmart in Worcester. It was the glass door. The very talkative Assistant Manager who sold me my ammo last week corrected me when I mentioned a broken lock. Apparently, the door got man-handled and shattered. Took them a month or so to get a new door in.

Food is a terrible example because at least there might be a value add stuck somewhere in there. Maybe the chicken tastes better or something. Maybe the people at that market can tell you how to cook it properly.

A box of 100 rounds of WWB is typically the same damned thing whether you buy it from Walmart or the local gun shop.

Alright fair enough, maybe food was the single worst thing I could have chosen aside from maybe clothing. What can I say? It's the first thing on my mind right now.
The essence of my statement remains though, paying a premium for "shopping local" be it Lorem Ipsum, a Farmer's markt, or another purveyor only goes so far. In the example about the differential of $19+- works out to almost 3/5 of the price paid per unit from Wallyworld. Is it worth floating a local guy even if that means you can engage in your hobby 1/2 as much? I avoid Modern Brewer in Cambridge often because their pricing is prohibitive, and I get guff for it because they're local.

Don't you hate it when you come up with a great comeback too late?

I got asked the "Is this for a rifle or pistol" question the other day at the wally in Warwick RI. I was getting a couple boxes of wwb .357 I just said pistol to the first and rifle to the second. It really isnt any of their f'n business.

I often stop by the N. Attleboro as its on my way home from work, and I usually check out the ammo case, just for the hell of it. I noticed last time I was there the stock was really low....I wonder whats up?

Yes, it is, if you're between the ages of 18 and 21. Do you really think they give a shit what you're going to do with it? It is illegal for them to sell ammo for "other than a rifle or shotgun" to someone under 21. They ask what the ammo is for, so they how old you have to be.

CLMN

The price on the box isn't always the right price. They have specials all the time and don't change the labels.

This.

I prefer Wal-Mart over Dick's only because Wal-Mart has a register at the ammo counter whereas Dick's doesn't. It's gets a little annoying when the saleperson at the Dicks ammo counter has to walk you all the way to the front of the store so you can buy a $3 box of shot shells.
