Top Shot back tonight

Based on what?

Based on a bunch of other .mil guys that thought he was a douchebag. I've served with Brian, if he's siding with the other .mil guys in saying that Jamie is a douche, well guess what, Jamie is probably a douche.

Based on what?

I said it earlier in Post #526 (shown at bottom) : then Derek posted the below text from Ashley's FB page:

From Ashley's facebook page.
"One thing I will not tolerate is someone in the military who claims to be something they are not. I do not care if it is in a bar, a mall, a fair or in front of cameras for millions of people to see or partially see due to editing. If I look like as ass, guess what? It is because in the military sometimes you have to be, especially when it comes to bullshitters. Remember, as a viewer you see only a small percentage of the real story or what really happens. Honestly, from what I have seen (up to episode 5) I am glad to be off this "show". But what really matters is that in the end, the truth always comes out, maybe tomorrow, maybe a year from now. If you see me in person, please feel free to come say hello or discuss any political issues you may have with how I acted or was depicted and I will be glad to explain. On a side note, I DO NOT recommend ever going on a reality show, even one that you think is awesome. Now I will get to the comments. Thanks, the real non fictional character!"

POST #526:
I think it comes down to something along the lines of Jamie acting sketchy regarding his job in the Navy. George straght up asked him: "What do you do in the Navy?" and Jamie replied: "I'm in the Navy." He had been described, and commented on saying he was Navy EOD, Rescue Swimmer, leads the armory, etc.. But he would never tell anyone what he did, and to the other .mil guys that is sketchy. Like he was trying to act "harder" than he really is, or make people think he was a badass. Granted, he never did say he was a SEAL, but that he was attached to a SEAL unit, so Ashley got that specific part wrong.

I have understood why the .mil guys have acted twords Jamie because of how he has conducted himself. Asides from the sketchiness with his fellow servicemen, he also alienates himself! He acts like "the other dont want to play with me", but he runs off on his own, doesn't try to be part of the group or engage the other players it seems. Every shot you see of Jamie he is on the other side of the house playing with himself, by himself.

Yeah, I read that. I also heard Chris say that Jamie never claimed he was anything he wasn't and it was others in the house who were making claims about him. Kind of makes it hard to know who is blowing smoke and who is telling the true story. Maybe it'll all come out in the just announced post show wrap-up "Beyond the Bullet!".

Jamie has done it on screen with his words and with his little titles under his name! LOL. It goes from Rescue Swimmer to EOD, to him being a gun bunny in the armory.

Still, to play devils advocate, George's title as "USAF Sniper" is BS... He is a sharpshooter in the USAF Security Forces... But hell, "Sniper" soundsmore bad-ass... lol.

Considering the amount of editing that goes into reality tv, the "drama" aspect of the show is likely 80% the creation of the producers, so I wouldn't give it much thought.

Ahh... USAF Security Forces do indeed have snipers, and George is indeed a sniper...

I stand corrected. It looks like they're calling them snipers now. Even still, when I think "sniper" I imagine the Marine Sniper in a hide for days, crawling a million yards in a ghillie suit for that one shot. I think "sniper" to the services that have a job code/MOS for that title: "sniper".

Not trying to take away from the special skillset George has, but I was unaware the AF has started calling them "snipers" now. Good to know. TY. [grin]

That's my thinking, they show you what they want you to see.

Security Forces have had snipers for some time, here's another thing you may have been unaware of, USAF Security Forces can be Rangers also, as well as go to Army jump school.

If you read my post you would understand my statement. First there is a tier system in the Military based on rank for awards. Officers get higher rated medals than enlisted. And yes, the criteria for a Bronze Medal is very broad and subjective. Like I said I serve with 2 Majors in my current unit who were awarded Bronze Stars and neither saw a shot fired in anger. E-1`s thru E4` 11B`s who patrolled every day didn`t get shit. One of my soldiers who went to Iraq as a replacement got blown up 3 times from IED`s. He has severe TBI and no Bronze Star. He has a CIB thou, which is much more coveted than a Bronze Star.
Another example of the Military Award system. 3 O-6 Colonels in my unit retired last weekend. All were awarded the Legion of Merit. When I retire after more than 25yrs. of service to the country I will get an MSM and a handshake. That`s the system.

You have such strong views on this topic but have only watched "bits and pieces" of this season for your knowledge.. Fail.
*****
I don`t have to sit thru hours of macho BS to have an opinion. I`ve been in the Army as an 11B for 24yrs. and I know the type. I watched the whole episode last night and the personal crap was high school drama. I want to see competitors shoot cool weapons competing against each other, not acting like a bunch of reality "stars". And I will say this, anyone who completes the rescue swimmer course has huge balls and must be part fish. When I was a SF wanabee we spent hours in the pool doing over and unders, etc. and I thought I was going to drown...WIN!

The USAF Snipers go through the exact same schools as the Army & Marine Snipers. The title "Sniper" is legitimately earned. I was still active when the AF decided to train a small corps of Snipers and they made a pretty big deal of it...in fact there was a female Sniper trained as well. I'm sure the Germans will tell you that the women Russian Snipers were no less combat effective as their male counterparts. Just because the Air Force is mostly associated with air planes, they do have combat forces who are the best in the business.

[SARCASM] Really??? I guess I missed that part about the Air Force when I enlisted... When I joined, they only flew airplanes... [thinking] [/SARCASM]

NO CRAP they have combat forces that are the "best in the business"! Did you miss my post where I stated Ashley was either a CCT or PJ???

You obviously just jumped to the last few posts of this thread and decided to jump in... [rolleyes]

My unit is more badass than your unit. Sounds almost like a "my badge is better than your badge" cop willy waving contest [pot]

Actually I was just looking at your screen name, it's the AFSC for Security Forces, 3P0x1 (3P031 being Security when I was in).

I was a 60 gunner myself [wink]

Easy there...no need to be an internet tough guy. I don't have time to read all 56 pages, so yes I just jumped in here. I was an AMMO troop for 17+ years (2W071).

The Valor Device is extremely difficult to get awarded and just because a medal doesn't have it doesn't mean the award doesn't mean anything. It's extremely coveted. Adm. Mike Borda committed suicide after it came to light that his Valor device wasn't earned and was extremely shamed. The Air Force has really been stingy with their higher medals & awards ever since the Khobar Towers got blown up. There were many people who were awarded the Purple Heart for getting a few stitches in their foot from getting cut stepping on broken glass and many thought that was unfair. Now the Air Force will only award the PH for direct combat/firefight injuries. It won't be awarded if an Airman loses a limb from a rocket attack when they are walking to the shower tent in the compound. If Ashley received the Bronze Star then he earned every little bit of it.

I caught some of the episode last night. What was Ashley`s claim to fame? What did he receive the Bronze Star for, being in country? Unless you have a V for valor it means nothing. I know many officers who received them for sitting in the TOC in Iraq. What was his MOS in the USAF?

No problem, I am only an internet tough guy because I was formally attached to a SEAL unit, and I'm a rescue swimmer... [rofl] [sarcasm]

Or...

Ashley didn't even have the grace to shake Jamie's hand. That's lame.

He may be a hell of a shooter, and a brave man... but to me that one act showed a serious lack of class and character. I lost pretty much any respect I had for him.

Yeah, I scared my cat I was laughing so hard. When they got back to the house Jamie was smiling and the rest of them looked like they had just been to a funeral. It was great.

Yeah, Jamie did have canary feathers dripping from his mouth, didn't he? [smile]

Also, WRT to the FAL, they're standing (not benchrest) and on a small, unsturdy platform, plus trying to hit targets as fast as they can.

Plus they're standing 90 degrees off of the optimum position for shooting off hand! Try shooting facing the target directly some time... I'm impressed with all of them for hitting on that stage. Except for Ashley. He's still a schmuck.

I think it comes down to something along the lines of Jamie acting sketchy regarding his job in the Navy. George straght up asked him: "What do you do in the Navy?" and Jamie replied: "I'm in the Navy." From Jamie's post on Appleseedinfo.org:
From listening to all the post-elimination interviews with Caleb Giddings on Blog Talk Radio, it seems like this issue of people not knowing what I do in the Navy was a HUGE DEAL. I never realized that it was an issue, as George was the only one who ever asked me to elaborate on my career. I wasn't intentionally hiding anything or keeping anything a secret, I just didn't know anybody gave a crap. I guess this was viewed as "shady" by the other military members in the house (although I can CONSTANTLY be seen throughout the season wearing Rescue Swimmer T-shirts in the house). If anybody had asked, I would have gladly explained myself. I'm very proud of my career, but I guess I do understand how it could be confusing because there's not 1 word or 1 sentence that can accurately summarize what I do in the Navy. For example: if I said "I'm a Diver" - people would know what that is. If I said "I'm Military Police" - people would know what that is. But I guess saying that "I'm an Operations Specialist, Rescue Swimmer, Water Survival Instructor, and I work with Explosive Ordnance Disposal" - that's not easily understood if you're not in the Navy, and it doesn't explain how or why I'm a good shooter...

From some guy who was put out on a medical from the Army (11B) because of a spider bite ( saying that here is better than 20 years of therapy!) I have respect for anybody who decides on their own to put on the uniform and serve the country. As someone more civilian than military in experience, I don't care if you are in the motor pool or in some dung heap in Afghanistan laser sighting targets while subsisting on guava and bat shit, you have earned my respect just for deciding that serving your country mattered more to you than keg-stands at a frat house for 4 years.

I have no idea what happened there before Ashley flipped out on Jamie. I don't know either one of them. I just wish Ashley could have kept it together instead of that performance. I cannot imagine anything happened that was severe enough to do that on television, in front of your mom, God and every other soul on the planet. Maybe Ashley has seen some close friends killed and has a low threshold for anyone he even suspects of being a PX soldier. I really just want to see more competition and less drama, at least like this ongoing pissing contest.

All you folks who have, are or will serve in our military...hat's off. You've done more than most and I really am in awe of all of you.
