Sudbury townwide ban on agenda

Well that's different. Now I like you. Anybody can help because lots of people know people in these towns. When I heard about the Littleton vote I called my friends living there and they had no idea. They let their neighbors know too. It still went south but eventually being proactive will have a result. I would like to see Sudbury be that first wall they run into.

Ok. Truce.

I’d love to have an influence in any of these towns. I hate seeing good towns loose to new people. I just no longer have connections, and it sucks.

Funny, when I was going to LS we had a class called “American issues” was tought by one than another “hippie”” the class was great, nothing off limits (porn/drugs etc.) It would never fly today. But I remember the classes vividly. And there was a story I remember about why the first guy got the boot.

There was a pig farm in Sudbury when I was a kid. People bitched at the smell. Ummm Don’t move next to a pig farm?!?!? Sheesh.
We had a pig farm basically across from my high school. I complain about it today, but only because I didn't "have to walk uphill, both ways..."

Now, it's a supermarket. Kids don't know how easy they have it.

You had it easy! Lol.

I remember having to walk to the bus stop in any weather (up hill) and wait.

None of the bs stop at every house with parents waiting in their Escalade and walking little Chris to the bus with an umbrella.

My mom put out cereal and went back to bed. If I missed the bus I was hoofing it.

Sad that the real birthplace of freedom is under such a coordinated attack.
The real attack will be when same ordinances will force you to share your own house with some undocumented migrants, because you’ve got too much square footage per person than government allows you to have.
The only freedom left in USA is a freedom to remain silent. Everything else will be exposed and punished mercilessly.

Your mom made you breakfast? Must be nice.

We had to pour our own and make our own sandwiches, then get to the bus stop ourselves. I'm still traumatized.

beats walking for 35 minutes through snow storm in siberia with no damn buses at all. there is no concept of 'snow days' in there - as every other day is a snow day, while it is from -25 to -40 deg outside.
good mom just reminds you - breath through the nose, not through the mouth (as it will make ice crystals in your lungs). helps a ton when it is a snow drifts deep up to your knee in places.

See? This is the hardship that makes strong men. If only you used real degrees.

I think we can still be friends, though.

Only up to your knees?

I remember the blizzard of 78 like it was yesterday, I was trying to go to work in my Oldsmobile Cutlass, but the damn snow was piled 6' high.

now get such a thing happening every other week for whole winter, and winter begins in october and lasts to end of may. and nothing stops when it happens, streets will be plowed with snow pushed aside, and people will keep using publc transportation and expected to show up for work as usual. same with schools. weather provides no excuses.
it is just not a place where humans should live. people were moved there by stalin in ww2 as he evacuated most factories and established military production in there in siberian region, to be a secondary layer of safety.

Just found out from a member of my range that Acton is doing the same thing tomorrow night (may 1 2023) Article 15. Seems like a coordinated effort.

Possibly not. The Acton article appears to be only about creating a separate zoning category for a "Firearms Business." No doubt this is specifically to torment any existing firearm dealers and/or discourage new ones, but I could not find a mention of banning "assembly" in the Acton article.

my wife`s first car here was a cutlass ciera and she still feels quite a remorse for us ditching it. we just gave it away for free.
it got a starter completely stuck, and all was rusted down below, so i could not get it out, the starter, and to pay a shop for tow and repairs would cost more than a car itself would cost at that point.
still, she still regrets letting it go.

I disagree. I’ve seen this movie before.

Several years back, Wayland had a town meeting article to create a zoning district for marijuana businesses. The intent of the article was to effectively ban sales and production of the demon weed in Wayland. They trotted out some doctor who said that the demon weed is terrible for our youth (while ignoring the impact of alcohol or the fact that we have 4 liquor stores in town -- for the record, I don't drink anymore and I don't use marijuana or its derivatives).

So what they did is create a zoning district where marijuana businesses are limited to about 3 lots on the Sudbury line, currently operated as a mulch/topsoil business and a Bentley dealer. So they have effectively banned the sale of marijuana in Wayland without having to actually ban it. Any marijuana business trying to open a shop in Town Center (the logical location for such a shop) would have to spend tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars suing Wayland to get a zoning variance.

I expect the Acton article to be the same. They will limit the zoning to a location where it is basically impossible to run a successful business.

I don't see where we are disagreeing about the Acton article. My point was only that Acton does not specifically mention a ban on the "assembly" of firearms.

Defeated but it will be back. I want to thank all the Sudbury residents that showed up in force. It was particularly telling that the select board opposed the article and more importantly that the town council thought this represents a total ban of firearm and ammo sales seen nowhere else in the US. He urged its defeat due to the litigation threat
