Don't smoke myself, but a buddy of mine is a retired NYCity cop, he smoked and I remember he told me when a pack hit $10- it was a long time ago. He retired 19 years ago, and moved upstate very soon afterwards but still would go to the city to visit friends. I'll bet they are $15 now.

Interesting thought. Of course, once we condone that for other people, it's a very short step until "other people" decide that we should just disappear.
