If you won Powerball...

A new G650ER will cost around $70M finished (‘green’ airplane is around $65M before options) and you’ll spend $2M each year running it (hangar, crew, fuel, maintenance).

If you start out with $220M after taxes, you’re down to $150M after buying just a single plane.

Personally, I would either buy a jet card from NextJet or FlexJet, or lease through them. It wouldn’t be “your” plane, but you also wouldn’t have to deal with all the crap around buying a hangar, hiring and firing aircrew, etc. And you won’t have dropped 1/3 of your wealth on a depreciating asset.

Also, using a fractional service like NetJets is far better in terms of privacy. There are spotters at airports that post pictures of business jets at airports. If you are flying your own plane, then it is pretty clear that you were at that location. In contrast, if you are on a NetJets aircraft, all anyone knows is that a NetJets aircraft arrived at that location, not who was on board.

I know all about that crap but still, no frac for me, no thanks. If I was ever worth that much I want my own stuff, no flinting. I'd still have plenty left to
run the aircraft for a long time, or even longer if I invested it properly. Plus also in long term could whore them out on a 135 op. And even a 10 million buffer/parachute set aside if the whole thing fails. It'd be fun. I have guys I could call up tomorrow who would kill to get type certified on any of the aircraft I'm thinking of.

WRT privacy, yeah I get it, but that's only a weak matter of security of obscurity. Anyone else actually there would still see you get off the plane,
etc, depending on the FBO and how many people are around.

When you have over 200 mill sitting around the scope of everything changes and as long as you take enough caution to not piss it all away and hold some in
reserve, you can do nearly whatever you want at that point. Even if the numbers didn't work out I'd still gladly settle for just a GV and a pilatus, and still have
even more money set aside. [laugh]

I'd set up a trust first and as many here have already said I'd move to a free-er state or two in case one goes bad and buy lots of land and put in a range where I could shoot LR,ELR, Action shooting range (IDPA,IPSC,Steel, 3 gun etc.) Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays etc. Also an indoor range. Buy whichever firearms I want. Any archery items I want and indoor/outdoor range for the archery too. Donate to 2A causes. I'd probably take some armory/gunsmithing courses etc. Take courses to learn metal working and the machines to do the work. Flying lessons and possibly a P51D Mustang or F4U Corsair if I can find a good one for sale, if not something still fast but a bit more practical. Take any other courses that may interest me. Investments and travel to places I'd like to. Family but since the majority of them are socialist maybe I'd tell them my money's not free and they'll have to work for it.;) They'll probably take me to court since that would trigger them![laugh] There is probably more that I would do too since having financial freedom would allow me to do so.

DOD still won’t sell you a surplus one. They keep them in the desert until they are ready to write it off and then break it up and sell the metal as scrap.

Hire those “airplane repo” guys to....liberate one

I would move first, then go ape shit. I did see what looked like a self propelled 203 mm m55 and m110 yesterday in Danbury Ct. do I need an FFL for that?

On my list

Gun company displays largest-caliber rifle ever created with bullets that cost $40 a piece
  • The .905-caliber rifle fires rounds about 2,100 feet per second
  • The gun also has 2,777 foot-pounds of recoil energy, which essentially makes it as powerful - and gives it about as much 'kick' - as firing 10 .30-6 rifles at the same time.
  • The company has only produced three of the uber-powerful rifles

Think they'll fit in a flare-gun...?

First on my list is to GTF out of MA. they'll already have reaped a ~$12 million state tax raping.

From there, 20% of the proceeds into a portfolio with annuities, dividends, etc. for fallback. that's 2 million per year at 5%

Then the buying would commence.

Dimples would be put out of office too. I'd hire some PR firm to 'Fusion GPS Dossier' her out of office

Set up Trust. Anonymously pay off debts (houses, loans) of the people who have made an impact on my life so far. I rather pay of their mortgage than give them $1. Buy Ranch in TX. I work in IT but I could care less for it. It's a means to and end. Good bye internet, cell phones, land lines. Sat phone, HAM Radio, Helicopter. Want to send me something? Learn how to address a letter or don't. Doesn't matter to me at that point. Assuming everything is paid for (property taxes, life BS). $200K a year expenditure/pocket money cap for the wife and I. Travel the world till we were tired of seeing everything.

Hey buddy.........

Unrelated to fantasy purchases, but its a waste of money to buy more than one ticket. Statistically, its a waste to buy any tickets, but if one ticket gives you say one in a 500 million odds, ten tickets or fifty tickets or a hundred or a thousand also give you pretty much one in 500 million odds. You'd have to buy thousands and thousands of tickets to even move the needle a tiny bit in your favor. Save your cash and if you have to, buy only one.

It would be pretty hard to hide an A-10 and I suspect that DOD would be well motivated to track you down. Also, finding spare parts would be a bitch.

300 MILLION bucks?
Spares will NOT be an issue!
;)

And i suspect a nice little donation to Trump's re-election campaign, and any other government objections would ... vanish

You HAVE TO cash in the lottery ticket in the state where you bought it!
So if you bought it in MA...there is no way to escape the state tax.
I wonder if you buy in NH, win, and then change residency before you cash it in...or set up a trust in NH...if you could avoid state tax then?

I just happened to catch a portion of a TV show the other night about Satellite imagery and a woman who analyzes it. While looking at some high altitude photos of mainland China she saw a familiar shape. A F-117 Stealth Fighter shaped object hidden in a factory yard. Apparently they tried to bounce some radar signals off of it and did not get much of a return. I wish I could remember where I saw this.
