Earlier this week our club got a call from a woman who was looking to join. When I called her back, she said that she and her friend were also looking for some instruction. They'd taken a safety course that included live fire, but they described it, unfortunately, as a joke.
So I agreed to meet them at our club this afternoon and spend several hours introducing them to handgun and rifle shooting. Both women were in their fifties, well coordinated and attentive. I had them shoot 1/2 a dozen handguns (semi-auto and revolvers in .22lr, .38 Spcl, and 9mm) and two rifles (.22lr and .223). We all had a great time and I think they'll be joining shortly.
It's been a while since I've taught and this really was a fun way to spend a lovely fall afternoon.
