Earlier this week our club got a call from a woman who was looking to join. When I called her back, she said that she and her friend were also looking for some instruction. They'd taken a safety course that included live fire, but they described it, unfortunately, as a joke. [frown]

So I agreed to meet them at our club this afternoon and spend several hours introducing them to handgun and rifle shooting. Both women were in their fifties, well coordinated and attentive. I had them shoot 1/2 a dozen handguns (semi-auto and revolvers in .22lr, .38 Spcl, and 9mm) and two rifles (.22lr and .223). We all had a great time and I think they'll be joining shortly.

It's been a while since I've taught and this really was a fun way to spend a lovely fall afternoon.

This is the first time in months I've had the weekend off

Went hiking and started plotting and making basic maps of an old mill site for one of my classes. Woke up at noon today and moved to the couch to watch football and haven't left it yet. Almost took a sip of my dip cup wasn't good

Hopin to convince my buddy to go shooting tomarrow at his club. Been a good weekend so far

A day at the range is always a good day.
+1

Indeed. I spent yesterday at the Worcester IDPA match. Today at my range teaching. Tomorrow afternoon I hope to get back to my range to put some more rounds down range -- I love long weekends with great weather.

Spent the day at the range with my son.

Well, really both clubs...

Went to the HSC USPSA Rifle match. It was my first time doing any sort of competitive rifle shooting, and I had a blast!

Went to taunton with my cousin to help him sight in his new savage in .308

Everyone but me is working tomorrow so i might take my savage to Woodcock for some long range steel ringing....

Or maybe sippican to destroy some stuff at the plinking range.... Or maybe both!

That's where I'm going next Monday. Can't wait.....

ETA: I haven't seen a shooting range all weekend. That'll change next Wednesday,
Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Are you busy tomorrow (Monday) afternoon? I'll be heading to the range in Wayland and could bring a guest or two. Send me a PM if you are interested.

I spent Sunday attending the Occupy Worcester Protest! Yep, I sure did!! I was wearing an anti-Socialist/Communist T-Shirt. I was a counter-protester to the protest. Or, to out it another way, one of four people with brain! There were three other right-wingers there.

I felt sorry for the young heads of mush being filled with Socialist ideals. The youth were concerned with the nation’s future and felt that the government did not properly represent the voters.

It was eerie watching the main speak say seven words and then the crowd – like a bunch of lemmings – brainlessly repeated those words devoid of emotion. When we broke off into smaller groups, we all shared a desire for smaller government which better represented the people. They went on to discuss Socialists ideals while we spoke of liberty and free enterprise. Liberty, to the youngsters, seemed to be defined as the government helping everyone meet their needs, wants and desires.

If one watched closely, there were about 10 people that were really in charge of the meting. They were dispersed amongst the crowd and helped push the crowd where they wanted them to go. They discussed voting but only held one vote. The rest of the time, the leaders pushed them ahead.

And yes... I was carrying!

That is sweet that you did that! Reps inbounds!

got up early, took the wife to church.. cranked up the grill, got called out to a house fire.. just got home eight hours later going to work in one hour....crap

Worked to clean out the garden and let the chickens in there to clean it out. Cut some firewood. Washed the cars. Sat on the deck and smoked a cigar. Put the top down on the Vette and went for a ride. Cooked barbecue chicken. Drank beer and watched the game.

I spent most of it working (albeit, from home) because of the lazy, useless bastard I work with. Fortunately, he'll be gone in a couple of weeks.

So, what else do you do to pass the time in heaven?
