Any shops in or close enough to Dedham where I can go during lunch from work? The closest ones from searching give me ones in Natick and Woburn..
Does AAA police supply on Rt 1 even sell firearms and ammo anymore?
Isn't GFA Arms Tec in Natick?

I've heard it only sells ammo. It must have weird hours because I never see it open.
Of course Bass Pro just down the 1 from Dedham, lots of camo and long guns but the handgun selection is weak sauce. Gartman Arms in Wrentham was this amazing shop that was more like a museum, it really was because if you asked about a gun he almost always said, thats in my personal collection and not for sale. Sadly the old timer and fascinating orator passed about a year ago. I heard his daughter was going to open the place again and expand the hours and selection. Benko only opened one day a week, I used to go just to hear his stories. You may want to check out if she re opened the store.
AAA only sells ammo now, no guns (info from my discussion with the owner).
It is always open unless (IIRC) the steel grates are down. Film on windows so you can't see in. It is a "cop shop" and non LE aren't treated all that well there.
but Natick traffic sucks, so these will be over an hour typically.
You obviously don't know the back roads to Natick! 109 to 27 directly to both shops is a lot less than 1 hour from Dedham, probably 20 minutes tops.

I usually cut through Dover - Walpole St. off 109 to Church St to Haven St to Main St. to Pleasant St then to Union which hits 135 right near B&K. Nice drive.
I know the backroads well, but they can be tricky and don't seem to be routed that way via GPS of mapquest etc.. Your right thouh, you can sneak down South st to Charles river rd and over. in typical traffic still over 40 minutes if you don't get lost. Maybe less from West of Dedham center, but can take 10mi + just to get through Dedham from from some parts. Remind me to stay clear of the roads when your driving if it takes you 20 minutes though
Not that I would ever advise this , but you can make some good time on those roads even at rush hour.
I just ran Microsoft Streets & Trips straight 27 from Walpole Ctr to Natick Ctr is listed as 13.4 miles/21 minutes (just to get a baseline since you seem to think this is a very long arduous route on 27).
Now I'll admit that "Dedham" can be anywhere from the Red Cross/Commuter Rail area to Westwood by 109/128. Letting this program run from Dedham Ctr to Natick Ctr by Rte 128 to Rte. 9 to Rte. 27 is listed as 14.6 miles/22 minutes. Running straight 109 to 27 at Medfield Ctr is listed as 18.3 miles/34 minutes. Another option is grabbing 135 to Natick Ctr. and that runs 10.8 miles/23 minutes (this is the way I leave B&K/Morse Tavern on our monthly Thursday night NES get togethers but at 10PM traffic is rather light).
Outer Limits in Holbrook. I just bought a case of 9 there. Never knew it was there until my friend told me last week.
