Update:

More Fast & Furious guns turn up at crime scenes:

Three more weapons from Fast and Furious have turned up at crime scenes in Mexico, CBS News has learned, as the toll from the controversial federal operation grows.

According to Justice Department tracing documents obtained by CBS News, all three guns are WASR-10 762-caliber Romanian rifles. Two were purchased by Fast and Furious suspect Uriel Patino in May and July of 2010. Sean Steward, who was convicted on gun charges in July 2012, purchased a third. The rifles were traced yesterday to the Lone Wolf gun shop in Glendale, Ariz.

During Fast and Furious and similar operations, federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) encouraged the Lone Wolf and other gun stores to sell massive amounts of weapons to questionable purchasers who allegedly trafficked them Mexican drug cartels.

Patino is said to have purchased 700 guns while under ATF's watch. Ever since, a steady stream of the guns have been recovered at crime scenes in Mexico and the U.S. But the Justice Department has refused repeated requests from Congress and CBS News to provide a full accounting. An estimated 1,400 guns are still on the street or unaccounted for.

Judge Orders DOJ to Release Fast and Furious Documents Withheld From Congress Under Obama Executive Privilege Claim

The documentation DOJ is required to now turn over is a "Vaughn index" of "all requested Fast and Furious materials from a June 2012 Judicial Watch FOIA request."

A Vaughn index must: (1) identify each document withheld; (2) state the statutory exemption claimed; and (3) explain how disclosure would damage the interests protected by the claimed exemption." In ordering the DOJ to provide Judicial Watch the Vaughn index, the Court ruled, “In this circuit, when an agency is withholding documents under exemption claims, courts require that the agency provide a Vaughn index so that the FOIA requester – at a distinct informational disadvantage – may test the agency’s claims.”

Expect to see a lot of this:

Thanks for the news, I had lost track of what was happening for this.

Any bets their version of 'dog ate my homework' will crop up again?

http://freebeacon.com/politics/court-orders-doj-to-release-list-of-fast-and-furious-docs/

A federal judge ordered the Justice Department Thursday to release a list of documents it is withholding from the public related to Operation Fast and Furious within the next month.

Calling the Obama administration’s request for further delays “unconvincing,” U.S. District Court Judge John D. Bates told the Justice Department to release the list of documents—called a “Vaughn index”—that the department is withholding by Oct. 22.

and this...

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said in a statement on Thursday that Attorney General Eric Holder is resigning as his group is close to nailing the Department of Justice on Operation Fast and Furious.

Judicial Watch is going after discovery WRT the IRS as well.

From 2009:

Just a reminder of how directly the Obama administration exploited the Fast & Furious operation:

WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton brought mea culpas to Mexico Wendesday for the guns and money flowing south from the U.S. that have fueled the bloody drug wars between the cartels and the Mexican army.

"It's not only guns, it's night-vision goggles, it's body armor," Clinton said enroute to Mexico City in her third foreign trip as Secretary of State.

"These criminals are outgunning law enforcement officials," Clinton said of the street warfare in towns near the border that have claimed more than 6,000 lives in the past year.

"And since we know that the vast majority, 90% of that [weaponry] comes from our country, we're going to try to stop it from getting there in the first place," Clinton said.

The document details the Attorney General Holder’s personal involvement in managing the Justice Department’s strategy on media and Congressional investigations into the Fast and Furious scandal. Notably, the document discloses that emails between Attorney General Holder and his wife Sharon Malone – as well as his mother – are being withheld under an extraordinary claim of executive privilege as well as a dubious claim of deliberative process privilege under the Freedom of Information Act. The “First Lady of the Justice Department” is a physician and not a government employee.

Executive privilege for non government employees?

Remember the wikileaks documents from 2011? Here's a gem; while Hilary Clinton was mouthing off in Mexico about how 90% the weapons were from US gun shops, the embassy staff in Mexico was writing a note saying none of that could be verified (and other documents indicate their mistrust of the armed forces of Mexico, in letting their arms get into the hands of the drug gangs)

6. (SBU) Comment. Claims by Mexican and U.S. officials that
upwards of 90 percent of illegal recovered weapons can be
traced back to the U.S. is based on an incomplete survey of
confiscated weapons. In point of fact, without wider access
to the weapons seized in MEXICO, we really have no way of
verifying these numbers. Joint efforts to develop
intelligence that can serve the impetus for investigations
and prosecutions of individuals or companies that market
firearms to the cartels, will require Mexican and USG law
enforcement agencies to share essential crime scene forensic
information on a real time basis. Post law enforcement
agencies will continue to work closely with their Mexican
counterparts to break down institutional divisions and
facilitate more information sharing on arms trafficking cases
both among the Mexican agencies and with U.S. partners. End

Here's my prediction of what is in store for Holder: nothing.

I hope I'm wrong. There has been so much corruption with this administration, and yet Obama gets free pass after free pass. WTF is it going to take? Really!?!

Justice Dept. dumps 64k pages related to Fast and Furious

The Justice Department has turned over more than 64,000 pages of documents congressional lawmakers were seeking as part of their investigation into the botched gun-running operation known as Fast and Furious.

The material was handed over to the House Oversight and Government Reform panel late Monday in what aides describe as an election eve “dump.”

In total, 64,280 pages arrived on Capitol Hill — all material that had been withheld from Congress by President Obama, who used executive privilege to keep the information from lawmakers.

House Republicans, who led the charge to hold U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress over the documents, sued for their release, and a judge agreed with the GOP.

“Last night’s production is an admission that the Justice Department never had legitimate grounds to withhold these documents in the first place,” Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said. “Approximately two-thirds of the universe of documents that the Justice Department withheld from Congress has now been shown to be well outside the scope of executive privilege.”

Issa said Republicans will keep fighting for the release of additional Fast and Furious documents.

Issa added that the pages turned over Monday include heavy redactions that could be “inappropriate and contrary to the judge’s order in the case.”

The Fast and Furious program ran from 2006 to 2011 out of an Arizona division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It involved U.S. agents selling guns to Mexican drug traffickers in an effort to trace the weapons to the drug cartels. But agents lost track of the weapons and some of them were used to kill people, including U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

He is literally daring them to impeach... He knows the RNC views it as a losing election strategy for 2016 - unless they wrapped up the trial by the end of this year it would hurt them more than him.

I'm hoping that Obama and Holder were arrogant/stupid enough to have implied themselves via some form of electronic comms which will clearly show that not only was the WH involved, but lying about it. If that sort of communication can be turned up and authenticated it's game on for impeachment.
