started them out with a Chiappa "Little Badger" single shot .22lr, not the best, but has an aperture sight, and it's single shot only. once i saw that they were at least hitting the cardboard (at 25yds) i moved them to a 10/22 i had built for their mother for an Appleseed, the actual stock and weight seemed to help a bunch.

not bad for a cold, rainy, muddy afternoon. i've gotta get their sister out soon too, then we can set up brackets...

Those were my most favorite firearms outings is when I started taking them. They were each (3 sons) four at the time I would start them.

I started all mine out with an oddball Cricket 30 years ago. Odd in the sense that it came with a thumbhole stock and bull barrel and it wasn't a listed item at the time. The thing is great as there's no kick or noise with shorts. Their confidence grew as it was really accurate with the scope but they quickly outgrew it so the next in line was a .22 Ruger Sporter. I wanted them to use irons and eventually did add a scope to it.

I still use the Cricket with subsonic's in the back for pests. I can drive a nail head in with it at 30 feet.

Shootin with the kids is just the best time i have ever had
so nice to see other people getting the kiddos out

you should look at a t/c hotshot, it trumps the chiappa, cricket, henry bolt 22. and it is an aperture sight

I’ve seen one of those bull barrel crickets in a store. I kick myself for not taking it home!!

I bought the badger as just a cheap backpack survival gun... intended to mod it some, see what was possible with it.
