Boston globe Mill article

There was a German guy who got pretty famous for experimenting on children once. It didn’t turn out that well.

As Picton points out, the problem with "normal" is that the more the "abnormal" is tolerated, it becomes accepted as the new "normal>

Well, except that regardless of how we think the world works, prevailing social values are always changing. Always. The decision was made early on to keep reevaluating the DSM to reflect that: it's baked into the cake of what the DSM is. The APA would say that's a feature, not a bug.

Whether the DSM normalizes abnormal behavior, or simply reflects changing mores, is an open question. But not a very useful question to practitioners trying to diagnose disorders, and they're who the DSM is written for.

But god help ya if you smoke some reefer huh???

Well, we (and by "we" I mean lots and lots of people on the left and right) already know that there's nothing magically evil about pot, it's trivially easy to prove it's less dangerous - both to the individual and to society - than either booze or tobacco.

The demonizatation and criminalization of pot (and crack) are direct results of Nixon trying punish hippies and blacks who would vote against him. So, yea, 100% political.

If it needs to be normalized, it’s not normal.

You mean like being gay? Or throwing your shit out the window into the street is gross? Or putting iodine in salt? Or hiring the Irish or letting black people vote?

Please expand on how "normal" always equals "right" or "correct.

I mean drag queen shows for kids. Gender indoctrination for kids. Grooming of kids. Calling f***ing diddlers anything but evil, not MAP. Telling kids to lie to their parents about their socialist woke training in school. Schools literally trying to take kids from parents who disagree and demand the state out of their private business with their own children. Etc. etc. etc. etc.

My issue is with promoting medical intervention on children when the vast majority revert to biological sexual identification before adulthood if given only support for the high suicidal aspect of the disorder.

The most disturbing aspect of the whole thing is in the process the "medical establishment" is trying to take agency/power away from the parents in determining how to treat their own children. It's like the DYCFLMNOPQ types want to pull the "child abuse" card on a parent that doesnt believe in giving their kid hormones or hormone blockers etc.

I don't care about whether someones kid "is trans" or not. That doesn't bother me. It'ts all the authoritarian/coercive bullshit that has come to surround it.

Drag shows have been around for a long, long time, kids watched them in "the beforetimes" too. This isn't new.

How is telling a boy that he has to be tough like a man, and a girl that she should wear dresses and play with dolls not indoctrination? Gender indoctrination has been going on for... I dunno, since people existed? That's not even remotely new. Why do girls wear pink and boys blue? Why do we buy little boys trucks and girls dollhouses? Why do we insist that a boy's school uniform is slacks and a girl's is a skirt? (maybe not all schools, but that's surely the way it was for 200 years) If you think what we had 15 or 50 years ago was *not* "gender indoctrination", you're not even pretending to understand what any of those words mean.

But you've avoided answering my question about being gay. Are you saying that because it was once not considered "normal" it's therefore "bad"? How about women and blacks voting? That was once "not normal".

My point is that your assertion that "If it needs to be normalized, it’s not normal." might be technically true (because it's a tautology) but "not normal" doesn't mean "bad", or "undesirable".

If you think that's the the case, I challenge you with this:

I 100% believe that although it's not normal for regular people (not cops) to be seen carrying guns, it should be normalized.

Prove me wrong.

I’ll pretend to know what the hell you’re talking about and why you’re so sensitive around being gay, how’s that? If you think the shit that’s happening these days is anywhere near normal then I don’t really have any need to go on with this. And I don’t do demands well either.

Yeah but the thing is there's a big difference between "gender role reinforcement" (which yes, is often pretty shitty) vs the shit today where they are telling the boy playing with dolls or the girl playing with trucks that they're "transgender" and feeding into that arguably worse indoctrination/fraud (by telling them that if they feel like they are the opposite gender they can just assume that status by magic) instead of just being a person that has different preferences or doesnt always have "gender normative behavior" The difference between the two things is
pretty enormous.

The best thing to come out of this are Al Prescott's (president and CEO of biomedical company Crescent Innovations, located in The Mill) quotes in the Lowell Sun, particularly the last one:

"As a business owner and business resident within that mill, it’s not the most up-to-date building and as a result, it’s not the most expensive rent in the world,” he said. “If the citizens of Littleton continue to push, and if the news media decides to hound these folks, then the only thing I see on the horizon is losing my business, because right now, we can’t afford to do business anywhere else."

Prescott said he hopes to see local leaders address residents’ “unbridled fear” by hosting conversations between them and other mill businesses. That way, people can better understand what actually goes on there.

“If this was any other underrepresented group in Massachusetts, this would be a civil rights violation,” he said. “I really do wish the Select Board and all the elected representatives would sit there and stand up for once for law-abiding businesses that provide jobs.”

The retards on Littleton's boards and committees are not worth the time trying to deal with. Any sane person, if told lies by a rag like the Globe would at least try to verify them instead of just swallowing the shit that they are without question. FU Globe, Maura and the Littleton retards. FFLives matter. Jack.

The Leftists believe what they want to believe, they are not dealing with reality. Leftists see the world the way they want it to be according to their Utopian beliefs. Reality is to scary for them, maturity is something they fear because it means opening your eyes to the real world. They believe they are superior beings and we are Neanderthals. They can't admit that without us they are nothing but prey.

That’s because the definition of “abnormal” depends on the definition of “normal.” And yes, the definition of normal does reflect the prevailing social values of the times.
Some in society can call it normal, maybe even a majority of greater than 50%, but a clown dressed as a girl, when he's plainly a man is so abnormal it's a joke. The current President of the US is also a joke for using one of these abnormal people as our Surgeon General. That's a fact.

That’s not what I’m saying.

I’m saying it’s possible that in 400 years, it’ll be normal for men to wear dresses (I doubt it will be, but play along). Presumably, the DSM-whatever that they’re using by then will be based on the norms of 2422, not those of 2022. So, in that time and place, a man refusing to wear a dress will be acting abnormally by definition.

As for “right” and “wrong?” The DSM is careful to say nothing about that, because it’s not a morality text. Your morals are your own, and mine are my own: they are not set in stone, in any era or nation. Clinicians are right to ignore morality, wouldn’t you agree?

As for who Biden picked for anything? Lol. Why would I defend any of that shit?

No idea what the hell DSM is, and not sure I want to know, unless it has to do with the mill or the Globe's article about it.
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. It's the bible shrinks use to decide what is a mental disorder vs. what is a normal preference among other things.
