Boston globe Mill article

Weird. Maybe backdoor buying blems well below cost?
That's what I thought... but I could never actually prove it it was just so empirical/anecdotal, seeing a half dozen guns that were screwed up like that...... and back in those days Smith quality control was a lot better than what it is now, overall.... that's what made it even more screwy. I had friends with Smith 1911 from that era (from other shops) that are still running them now that are built like tanks and have zero problems......

For some bizarre reason there was always an inordinate amount of poor quality Smith product leaving that place but I could never fully prove out my conspiracy theory..... lot of f***ed up guns correlated to that shop. It was funny too because the hardcore skinflints loved that place because hed undercut FS by like 25-50 bucks a gun then the flint would brag about their score and a week later the same poor bastard would be taking apart his Smith 1911 that was basically destroying itself because it was so poorly fitted..... it was probably just a coincidence but it was a funny one. Smith generally made these people whole in the end at least.
Maybe he was hoping the place next door would give him a kick back for repairs?

Listened as two guys raved about how excited they were to have found the dealers at the mill and how it was all thanks to the Boston Globe article. So I guess someone owes the anti-gun activist pretending to be Globe journalist a thanks.

Although I did notice those two Mill first timers handled a lot of stuff but did not lay any cash on the counter before leaving.

I on the other hand was there cash in hand to pickup a P365XL to replace my standard P365 that my wife has informed me is hers now.

My thanks for a pleasant transaction goes to @Dean Safety a straight shooter (pun intended).

You need to turn that sh!t around, tell your wife her favorite dress is now yours. [laugh]

As a governor she might have less power than she does today.

Today she can at least threaten businesses and many will stop. As a governor I don't think she can do much, maybe hold a law hostage and threaten to not sign until they modify the AWB.

I am not sure what else she could do.

My only guess is she would fully support an AG that is twice as crazy about banning guns for social justice, racial equity, and reduce the amount of carbon emissions caused by gunfire.

I know people from the outside read NES. And the chance of a journalist finding out who jack is on their own is within reason.

However, I suspect that someone told the media who Jack is on NES before all this heat came about. Having a random modern day journalist (gag) actually figure that out on their own with enough confidence to publish in a major paper makes me think they had help. Not saying it was a conspiracy to get Jack in trouble. More like another Mill FFL who can't keep their f***ing mouth shut, etc.
No. It is very easy.

STEP 1: GOOGLE SEARCH.

STEP 2: CLICK FIRST LINK

STEP 3: READ FIRST POST.

STEP 4: You can easily verify by looking at all the Mill threads. The guy even signs his name.

So IDing people based off self identification on a forum is good enough for publication in a major news paper? I hope not.
It would be very easy after that.

You are the gun store browsing guns ...
"I am so happy I found this place, that One Eye Guy on NES mentioned it, his name escapes me?"
"that is Jack"
"Oh yeah, him. He seems to run this place"
"Yes, he does".

Literally, will take 10 seconds in a conversation as long as you don't say you are a reporter.

It is not rocket science.

I found the globe reporter

The first time I visited the rat was because I was looking for Dave. He needs better signage.

The next time I visited the rat is because someone insisted on using him for a frame transfer. I told them I would not give the rat a cent of my money. I offered to pay at various other shops, but he wouldn't go anywhere else. He paid the transfer fee... I should have just backed out of the deal.

For those that do not know there is a well known gunsmith in the area. He’s solid.

And I hope no affiliation.
Gunsmith is solid as can be. Has worked on a number of my rifles and pistols and always does great work and generally quick turn around. He's my go-to. Unfortunately, he does use the shop next door to do transfers when he holds things in his book. I usually leave the bare minimum for the work (like an upper, no BCG for barrel/comp work), but I had a complete rifle that had to be transferred from the shop because it came from out of state directly to the gunsmith and took a few weeks to turn around. This was a number of years ago, so maybe things have changed. In my defense, I had no idea who/what 'the rat' was at the time...

Not sure how this thread turned into an "out yourself for using the rat" thread.

The last time I was in that shop, he had more customers buying fishing bait than guns or ammo...

Verifying that info is as easy as a phone call inquiring about renting space, anybody can do that... All the "reporter" had to do was read Jacks reply to her phone call on this website to confirm identity, never mind the previous thing. There are a few people on here that give out enough personal info it would be really easy to dox them if an individual is so inclined. Shit, I changed my username here to what I have now only because "Dave" was already taken.. I be paranoid :) Probably too late though, hell I gave out enough info on myself that anybody can find me :(

If I had the loose cash I'd sue the Glob, not to get anything out of it, but just to expose their 80 gun shop lie since there are only 6 or 8. Jack.
If I had Elon Musk money I would buy the Glob and torture all the leftist writers until they ran screaming from the building. Then I would hire Howie Carr, Grace, Michael Graham, Michele Malkin, Victor Davis Hanson, Ben Shapiro, Kirk Schlichter, etc. as regular columnists and watch the leftist brains explode.

Or how nobody seems to care about the four professional dominatrixes with full dungeons, or the six BDSM toy manufacturers. Three of the four photography studios at the mill advertise they’ll do erotic private sessions, and one doesn’t hide that they make porn.
Or maybe I made those business up out of whole cloth. Who can tell?

Dammit, there's only one photography studio, and he just does pets. That may be YOUR kinda erotic private session, but not mine. (Yes, I looked. I was curious... not that I'm coming down from Vermont for a photo session. I may have to drop in on the mill when I'm back in Marxachusetts in November, though.)

That's not even completely true. I know at least one hardcore gun collector from this forum who was more or less "politely encouraged" by the ATF to get an FFL. He did run a retail business which is still operational today under a different licensee. He was moving enough guns and cash legally the ATF deemed it profit bearing activity.

If it wasn't for running a retail business which is still operational, I'd be betting that was Flotter390 you're talking about. But I remember when he first showed up, he told me he was spending his retirement money on guns.

An interesting point is that the majority of FFLs in the United States are "table top" FFLs, i.e. run out of one's home as a home business. However, Massachusetts is an outlier in that the state laws are so constructed that it's pretty much impossible to run anything other than an 03 (C&R) FFL out of your home. That's why the majority of FFLs at the Mill are there in the first place. In a free state, I'm pretty sure a large percentage of them would be running a home based FFL. It's Massachusetts's own anti-gun laws that force folks into joining together so they can have a reasonably priced "place of business" outside of their home.

There's a guy in Shirley (or maybe Groton?) who put an 8x10 shed in his side yard and convinced the Postmaster to give it a separate address, and he does transfers out of there.

Unfortunately in the industry I work (tech) and with my current employer, I am surrounded by woketards and liberals. I STFU about my politics and hobbies at work and don't post on social media (except NES) and will continue to do so until such a time as I no longer require the income/employment. Every day, that gets a little closer...

I used to work at a company in MA; when I was still contracting there (first 6 months), some Karen told HR that she was scared by the milsurp rifle calendar I had it up in my cubicle (SKSRay published it like 12-13 years ago). They made me take it down - as a contractor, I'd have just had my contract cancelled if I tried to protest it. After I got hired full time, though, I made it a point to put my weekly bullseye practice targets up in my cubicle. Never heard a WORD about it.

Funny thing... they never did realize I carried every single day I worked there. Concealed is concealed.

Very easy to find. First result on Google that's not related to the recent stories.

I was quoted in the article based on my NES post and by name (real and NES name). I make no effort to hide who I am IRL. I stand by what I post/say here on NES and assume at all times that everything is linked to me and being monitored by someone or many someones who don't have my interests in mind.

Its a big ho hum

Yup, the Globe has a history of yellow journalism and lying columnists. Remember Mike Barnicle? He's a liar on MSNBC now . Patricia A. Smith? Kevin Cullen? All Globies caught inventing fictional characters to enhance their fake stories. The Globe doesn't let facts get in the way of a good story where they have an agenda.

Anybody not using their real name as an NES screen name is hiding who they are :)
