I am very honored to be in this group and the amount of knowledge and passion this group is amazing [bow] [smile] . As a newbie ( i know you guys are most likely answering each others questions[rolleyes] ) could we cutdown on the acronyms a bit? It is obvious for our more season veterans what you guys means by AFR or EOPS etc... but for some (alright maybe just me) I am following a thread and boom here is acronym [sad] and then I spend the next hour trying to find it [banana] . Again remember you all were newbies once [slap].

This has been a public newbie broadcast advisement [party2]

I've had great luck using google to find answers for things like that, not being sarcastic, there are pages out there that explain all of this. Searching the board for the answer can be frustrating as everyone uses the acronyms.

How about a acronyms section in the FAQ post? Some of these are
indigenous to this freakin' state and no one would know what they
mean if they just started in the forum, or haven't been getting the
goal paper.

As for not using the acronyms, most people on the forum probably
wouldn't know what you were talking about if we spelled these things
out.

(Besides the net is acronym country and has always been that way.)

I don't disagree, some acronyms are easy (AG Attorney General) but some aren't (AFR). I try and look things up but somethings either has been "coined" here or is more regionally understood. Again, it is just a request and like all request it can be ignored.

The one negative is that explicitly defining some of the common acronyms would result in one of us mods jumping in and deleting the post for violating the forum standards. [wink]

I thought the AG was AFR

P.S. I agree with a list

I as a newbie would appreciate a list. I equate this group kinda like learning a different language. There is so much wealth of info that I hate miss out or have to retard the flow of conversation to ask about a post that people have moved off of. Ken were you kidding about the rule of this board do you have to use acronyms?.

PS I still have no clue what AFR stands for.. [horse]

I didn't know that definition of AFR, DR. I like Billk's as well

How about Acronyms ******* Rock!

Just joking, someof them on here get me too occasionally, it's difficult but the context usually helps.

If somebody wants to take the time to create an acronym list on your own and not in this thread, do it and PM me with it. I'll combine them all and make a Sticky out of it and toss it at the top of GD (General Discussion).

Sound good?...Ladies and Gentlemen, start your lists!

Hey newbie...There's a new Sticky at the top of General Discussion with MANY acronyms!

Everyone please feel free to PM me any that I may have missed...It's after 2am and I'm freakin' tired. Please only send relevant stuff...Don't send me ridiculous ones like ROTFWLMFAO, because I'm just not going to post it.

Thank you

When I worked for the late DEC, my Wife did too.

Engineering used TLAs that meant one thing, whereas Accounting, Logistics, and other groups used the same TLAs to mean something entirely different!

TLA - three-letter acronym
