Walmart stops selling most ammo and bans open carry

I've only been to the Saugus Walmart- when I was told they don't sell ammo, I had no reason to return.
F' those guys!

Walmart has forgotten who their core business is

Poor White Trash lookin for a Slurpy, some jerky and a kiddie pool?

A non-issue. If you were buying your ammo at Walmart, you are more of hte problem than solution. My days of WM buying were over a long time ago. I bought my 870 there. . . . . 20 or so years ago. Got ESCORTED OUT OF THE STORE. ???? Picked up some .22's back during the drought as they opened or re-opened some stores and scored on that. Otherwise, they aren't much for gun stuff to me. They suck at fishing stuff for the most part these days too. Hard to hold 150 million SKU's.

Total non event since a great many people stopped buying there years ago due to their ID shenanigans and lists

I have hunted all over this country and I will tell you it’s an inconvenience for some. I’ve spent a lot of time hunting Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and SD. Sure you can get basic ammo at the gas station but Walmart is always a reasonable distance to a good ammo choice. We are spoiled here in the Northeast with a concentration of stores, good ammo is always available to us from many options.

The only thing that will suck about this is Walmart was a hedge against price gouging because they didn't play f***o games whenever the market got
disrupted. All this means though, effectively, is people better stock up on ammo a long time before a "problem", because the mids or whoever are likely going to gobble up the surplus of stuff that walmart isn't buying...

Good point, Walmart never pulled a Cheaper than Dirt move.

Best WM ammo story. Buddy and I were out hte day after Thanksgiving blowing stuff up and junk at the range. We thought nothing of it. He had just gotten a dub-gun and in the middle of the range is a big-ass fridge door. So he starts shooting it. It's 9am and we are the only folks there.

About 10 min later, two guys show up. They got there and realized they didn't have any slugs to sight in their shotguns. Turns out it's their door. Whoops.

We move down and set up some targets. I've got those exploding target things. Tape one to the target. Set it at about 10yds or so. Its' a tough shot. We do this and that. Try and hit it every once in a while. Just enjoying our day.

After about 1/2 hr, they are out of shells AND still don't have the guns sighted in for Deer season. "We're headed to WM for more ammo. You guys gonna be around for a while?" "Yup." "Can you keep an eye on my wife's couch cushion?" (they were using it as a makeshift rest. Ain't he a keeper of a husband!?!?!?!?)

"Sure!" I say. I then turn, sight in and BOOM! I hit the exploding center. Target stand falls over. Catches on fire. Me and buddy (who is 60, I'm about 35 or so at the time) are DYING laughing - after I holster my pistol. Oh man. We walk downrange. We stamp out the fire. Set it back up.

Turn around.

Cushion's gone. They didn't trust us. [rofl][rofl][rofl]

  • McMillon said he is a gun owner and that the company remains committed to its long heritage of supporting hunters. The company will continue to sell the shotguns and rifles that it carries.

I didn't know the 2A protected us against those tyrannical grouse and deer. What a moron.

why all the hate guys? they've been on the nes boycott list for a couple years. you tellin' me some of you crossed our line in the sand? [laugh]

I don’t know…. I am not a huge Walmart fan but they have become a necessary evil. In terms of price and selection they are hard to beat unless you go online. I guess I could boycott them but that is going to hurt me a lot more than Walmart.

But this new ammo sale policy does suck. Sure there are a few places that will ship it but when you figure in the shipping walmart was hard to beat unless you are buying a case. And every time I am in Walmart for something else I like to check their ammo prices, which are usually good so I grab something.

Bottom line is that if I wanted just a couple boxes of ammo at a reasonable price walmart was just a short drive. I no longer have that option.

This is my issue as well. In my town there's only Walmart and an LGS that sell ammo and with Walmart dumping ammo I know that LGS with the $200 used Hi Point is going to be jacking up his ammo prices.

I stocked up on ammo a while ago, the only times I've gone to Walmart to buy ammo was when I had no .38 or .357 and didn't have brass to load those. When it takes a week to get an online ammo order in and I make range trip plans the day before, it's nice to have a local store to buy ammo for a reasonable price.

Now I don't, but for common stuff like 9, .38, .22, etc. I'm stocked up fine and it doesn't affect me.

It is sad tho because Walmart for years had been a champion for the 2A in selling ammo in stores and reloading supplies on their website. I noticed the past year their reloading stuff online has dwindled and I had the feeling they were going to turn anti soon.

With ammo and guns being treated like pornography now, it's like gun owners will all soon be treated like sex offenders and be registered and have to walk around their neighborhoods telling people they're a "registered assault weapon owner."

cheap chinese sh*t

If you think Target Sports and other ammo sellers don’t sell the above think again.
Everyone sells it as one time or another.

walmart for ammo, cat litter

I get my cat litter at Costco. You can get a 42lb Scoop Away cube for under 12 bucks.
I buy 20 cubes at a time. Amongst 24 cases of paper products etc..
to make the 1hr trip worth the gas money. I hit the Nashua store. Saves me 65 bucks in taxes.
My 8ft bed is level with the cab on the way home.
Between litter, toilet paper, paper towels, and ibuprofen
just those products are enough savings to cover the 60 bucks membership.
The TP and The PT’s are full size rolls. Not like the mini rolls you get at MB these days.

I buy my 9mm from Walmart. It’s the cheapest anywhere, including online. Not significantly, but 1 cent a round adds up.

If they stop selling it then a TSUSA prime membership with likely become a profitable investment.

I forgot, I also buy birshot there, which is also usually the cheapest I can find when you factor in shipping. TSUSA needs to up their 12 gauge game.

He's not talking about ammo, but the other junk in the store. Our illustrious series of protectionist presidents insures that we won't be seeing "chinese ammo" anytime
soon, regardless of its quality. (most of that shit is banned by a bunch of EOs etc).

What brand and what's your cost per 1K? Walmart is usually better than everyone else when the market is shit, but when it is soft they are usually not the
cheapest.

“we will discontinue sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition”

“while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips“

What the f***, I have a lot of SBRs and nobody told me about the special SBR ammo for my clips.

I quite like SBR ammo. They make a sizable series of good, well-priced .458 SOCOM ammo.

I have a Dillon XL650 press at home, set up for 9mm. I brought about 9,000 rounds up with me. It's gone... I've probably bought another 3,000 rounds at Wally World since I've been here. I pick it up at the same time I pick up cat litter; it's cheap and it's convenient.

So - next year, I'll start loading for the summer earlier - and bring more.

And I'll buy my cat litter somewhere else.

If your the guy that buys only a few boxes of this or that, which is the typical WM ammo purchaser.....you will benefit from TS prime.

If you buy cases all the time TS ships those free usually so not sure how much you would benefit.

Shipping on a few small orders of non case quantity will be worth paying for prime. Plus there also is a price cut on the ammo itself.

Lately they’ve had federal for $7.97 a box of 50, which comes in at $159.40 a case. The federal 200 boxes are $33.87, I think, which works out to be the same cost as cases online, which are around $170.

How much cheaper is 9mm with prime where it makes up for the $95?

I buy between 200-1000 at a time at Walmart, depending on their stock.

I also buy cases from TSUSA, as costs run the same as Walmart when Walmart isn’t running rollback pricing.

One of these years when I have an influx of expendable cash or am very bored I’ll buy prime and drop several grand on ammo. But it easier to stomach a few hundred here and there...:0

Yeah that is cheap, and that stuff is actually halfway decent for what it is, vs Blazer Brass etc.

Also, will this effect the manufactures like Federal, CCI, etc. Walmart was a YUGE purchaser.
20% of all US ammo sales is Walmart
aslo to follow up on that.. gonna be a lot of angry people in the US who won’t shop there anymore, especially in places like AZ and TX where they banned open carry from their stores
