Chalk this under "You never know who you're next to when you're doing shady stuff at the range".

Earlier today two men were observed by two other guys at the shooting range. These "two other guys" were an off-duty Warren Police Officer and an off-duty State Trooper. After a few conversation questions, present odor of marijuana and other things didn't seem right, Duty Officers were called and Officers Ashley Jodoin & Alex Sinni responded. After further investigation the two men were arrested.

Officer Jodoin arrested Nathan Smith of Cherry Valley, MA & he is Charged with:
-Possession large capacity
-Possession loaded firearm without LTC
-Possession ammo without LTC
-Illegal transport into commonwealth
-Possession of firearm while under influence of drugs
-Possession large capacity feeding device (x4 charges)

Smith was held on $25,000 bail
----
And Thomas Gallagher of Worcester was also charged with:
-Carrying firearm under influence of class D
-Possession loaded firearm without LTC
-Possession large capacity firearm
-Possession ammo without LTC
-Possession large capacity
feeding device (x6 charges).

I'm pretty sure this was their stuff, looks like they were in the right place, wrong time, gotta be careful out there

I wonder how many of these charges they talked themselves into.
The initial contact made by the off duty officers was that they were under the influence. The rest came out when the responding officers arrived.

The smell of weed and their actions as if under the influence was what drew the attention of the off duty officers. Right place.....shouldnt have smoked a joint in the car on the way to the range......is more like it.

Geez.....can I go shoot at the range and bring an 18 pack? WTF, getting stoned and shooting, great combination. I don't want ANYONE that's been drinking OR smoking(dope) handling a firearm around me.

I regularly polish off a twelve-snack when I go to the range. [/sarcasm]

Can someone with a FB account paste in some of the comments?

These guys were idiots, if I smelled weed on someone at my range I would at the very least make note of their names and report them to the club.

I'd take it a step further and call a cold range and tell them it stays cold until they are gone. Then worry about the member numbers.

It's a 50 to split pretty much. Some praising the cops that they made the state safer. Some calling them Jack boot thugs.....victimless crime yadayada

lol, i was gonna suggest they toss down a pint of jim beam to mask the aroma. nothing says the only smoke you smell is the full bodied duskiness of kentucky's finest.

Impaired shooters piss me off. I won’t go looking
for it but if somebody comes up to me at the range
reeking of booze or crack or marijuana or anything
else that I deem suspicious I will call them out on it
immediately. I just have no patience for people doing
dangerous things while being impaired. Not like shooting
is inherently dangerous but when you’re impaired it sure is.

I put it in the same category are impaired driving.
I’ll put a stop to it if I can. We have enough tragedy
in life without dopes making things worse by getting
high and doing things that could hurt others.

Not a victimless crime. Someone could have been shot.
If they were in a 100 acre field and could only shoot each other
then have at it.
