Target pistol bill (exemption to MA law) filed and signed.

On July 26th, Governor Mitt Romney of MA, signed into law a change to the firearms destructive testing requirements of MA law to provide an exemption for firearms (pistols and revolvers) that are designated as being for target shooting. A list of such firearms must be submitted to the Gun Control Advisory Board which will consider each submission and make recommendations to the Executive Office of Public Safety which will rule on the list. This change in the law was the result of a lot of work by many people, principally by Greg Derr of Marshfield, who convinced Representative Frank Hynes to file the bill. Greg is a many time State Pistol Champion as well as a former member of the Olympic Pistol Team (1996).

This result goes to prove that nothing is impossible, even in the gun unfriendly state of Massachusetts.
