You guys are all jokers....first of all if you need something there is this thing called the internet.
If you were going there inperson from MA to buy somthing so insignificant you might want to google "the Internet"
As far as their store policy. Their house their rules.
I just have a feeling if i called or went in there things would have gone differently.
Saying something like MA compliant outside of the state of MA unless your being sarcastic borders on asking the guy if he wants a reacharound... not a very good ice breaker.
Shooter outpost is worth the 2 hour drive if you plan on buying something. Not dealing with them over a muzzle device or their policy regarding said muzzle device, is really only your loss.
Especially since it probibly the best gun store in new england, and it was just a misunderstanding.
I'm sure you would have had a great interaction with them. It sounds like sunshine and unicorns would be flying out of their asses if only you had used your magic incantations on them. I'm sure you see this a lot as an armchair QB in life.
To clarify, I didn't use the term "MA compliant" with them out of the gate. After some discussion, and hearing how busy it was at the counter, it seemed faster to put it into some very basic terms: a hybrid sold primarily has a muzzle brake (explaining to him that I was finishing an MA compliant upper, thinking I may not be the first person he encountered from MA shaping their purchase around this concept). This wasn't bc I haven't done my research and am inarticulate in conveying what I'd like. I was trying to help the guy at the counter. Shame on me.
There in no way this entirely benign conversion should have signaled "problem", much less resulted in "sorry, can't sell this you". If they choose not to understand the law, so be it. My question to the community was if my understanding of the law was incorrect (so that I might not incorrectly judge others), and if not, others may want to know of this experience. Yes, their house rules no matter how you slice it. If this doesn't bother you, good for you.
Yes, I'd normally order this from the INTERNET like a civilized troll such as yourself, but I was looking to take a drive today, buy something needed, and see if the store was any decent. Maybe that just can't compute for you.
So enjoy your shopping and your superiority; hope it all works out well for you and sorry for attempting to share.
