Now that POTUS has signed yet another executive order regarding firearms I am already planning my road trip to the CMP before they are sold out. One benefit of being retired I can take a nice long road trip and hopefully return with a couple Garands.

Its truly a sad day[sad] for the collector community. Out of all of the firearms to attack why select rifle(s) made by the USA and are still to this day used in competitions at Camp Perry.[banghead]

I read that today; what a joke. Like the average criminal uses one of these to commit a crime. With the obvious collector status, I'm doubly surprised they're going after them. This was on the staff list of things he CAN DO without the approval of congress by executive order. Can you spell L-O-O-P-H-O-L-E?

Now he has targeted the most guiltless of any class of firearms buyer - the collector.

Fewer guns=safer children. Not to mention, a new hero for the moonbats. Isn't that all the messiah wants, a legacy that will shine in the halls of Socialism! They'll worship him for generations. No longer "under the radar".

I'd call first to see what's available...

LIMITED INVENTORY AT CMP STORES (August 2013):

RIFLES: The CMP currently has over 10,000 unfilled orders for rifles, ammo and other items. We also still have thousands of M1 Garands. These rifles all require inspection and repair and grading before being put up for sale. At times the customer demand exceeds the amount that our staff can make ready for sale. This is the case now with the field and service grade M1 Garand rifles. As the CMP armory produces the rifles, they are all being used to fill existing mail orders, some from as far back as the beginning of March. Until we catch up on mail orders, there will not be any field or service grade rifles in the stores at Anniston or Camp Perry. For now, we only have limited items in stock at both stores. We expect this to continue until late December. If you are looking for a specific rifle, please call ahead or email [email protected] to see what items are currently in stock prior to your visit.

I wouldn't mind going just to see. I've been near both on family trips, but there was 'no time' in the schedule.

Also be mindful they cut days stores are open down to three!
On CMP forums they have store updates for north and south. One benefit is you might find something a bit different ? Im not sure what they will have on hand for ammo but I would truck a good amount back....like the 10 case limit!!!!

wow - three pages before I get to reply - here is my answer:it just happened this morning and I don't know when I will have time to evaluate. We have to do today's work today and process orders we already have, and then hit the road for Cody.

From what I read - it has no direct impact on the CMP. Of course others will argue it.

This obviously isn't good, but I don't think it impacts MAP rifles returned to the Army and given to the CMP.

I'd love to make a trip to one of the stores provided they had inventory on the shelves. It'll prolly never happen for me though [sad2]
