On the Road....

3833 miles. Through AZ, UT, and into CO. Didn’t see one gun or antique store. The town where our hotel was last night had an indoor machine gun range. Wife didn’t see the point as I’ve shot a machine gun before 🥸. In CO for 4 days now...hope to see lots of stuff.
t

Town was Page, AZ.

You can go and try to catch it....not me. Already shed enough blood on this trip. My wife was attacked by a coffee table last night....had to take her to the ER...17 stitches.

Decided against getting a gun for something on my bucket list. There’s a wonderful coin/jewelry/antique store here. Will still look for guns, though. They did have some guns...there’s a coin I’m still interested in. I’ll go back and take pics

Last of the horse blankets...series 1922. Small notes introduced in 1928. They also had a not quite as nice 1922 $10 GC. Didn’t have enough $ for both. Could have gotten a real $2.50 for less.

The guns at the shop. Coins, currency, jewelry, watches, curios galore. Carcano was $265, Trapdoor $1400.

Nice! I couldn't remember when the changeover was to small bills. My favorite is the Educational series.

Went through Rocky Mountain National Park Today. There's still snow up here, and the melt off has the rivers and streams high. Lots of wildlife; especially Elk. Saw some Moose as well. No real gun stores around here. We leave Thursday for the return trip; maybe I'll get lucky along the Great Plains.

Video is at about 13,000 foot elevation; and peaks at 14,259, more than 2.7 miles above sea level.

I couldn't stop yawning when I was there at that altitude. Beautiful.

Last day in CO. Head home tomorrow. Didn't find any guns today, but did find some militaria. I did get the 1919 50 Mark note. Nice sunset picture on the way back. Four days in a wildlife rich area and the closest we get to an Elk is half a mile from the hotel. Turned off the car and coasted to a stop 10 feet from it. Dog didn't know what to make of it. Looks like the Elk is doing community service by eating up the weeds by the sign.

Drove out of Colorado and halfway through Nebraska. Nothing to see here. Miles and miles of nothing. Grassland, baby crops less than 1 foot, clumps of cattle here and there, and the odd horse. Did stop into one antique store, but there was nothing remotely interesting. Did pass the "Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles" in Lexington, but did not stop. Let's see if I get lucky in Iowa.

I did go back to that great coin store and got the $10 Gold Certificate, also a 1922. My wife's birthday present to me.

If you walk the 'Trail of Time' at the GC's south rim you'll see 4" diameter, bronze markers imbedded in the pavement. I made them. If you pry any of them up and abscond with them I will need to make replacements at financial benefit to myself...a shame if that ever happened... ;)

Enjoy the trip!
That's pretty cool. Mrs. Mountain and I were there a couple years ago and remember those markers. You a foundry guy?
