PSL build starting

Well got 90% done demilling my parts kit today. I'm thinking ill leave the front trunnion and sight block for when I start the barrel work. Ill drill the long rivets on the rear at work on the bridge port.
Luckily my dad has a press, front sight post was a bitch. Couldn't believe how easy the flash hider came off. Unscrewed it by hand lol .

When reinstalling the flash hider, use a touch of anti seize lube on the threads do they don't corrode/rust in place.

Also, none of the pins or rivets are tapered so they'll push out in either direction, the determining factor in which direction to go is whichever gives the best support for the piece on the press.

I would just paint it. But I don't really care about finish unless I'm trying to recreate a "look."

If you were super worried about rusting, parkerize the whole rifle when it's assembled and then paint it.

atilla is a dick

This^^^^, but he's not really a dick.[smile]

Haven't placed the order on the barrel yet. wanted to wait for the parts kit and reviver to show up. I wanted to play it safe in case there was any problems.

So any one have a idea which way to punch the pins out? I know the barrel pin you need a press to get out.

Never used a press yet for any barrel pins and I've disassembled alot of AK kits. A hammer, some aluminum bent over the jaws of a good vice, a glove, a short punch just smaller than the diameter of the pin and a heavy ballpeen hammer and it should come out no problem. Be careful where you support the front trunnion so you don't mess it up.

Polish any galling on the pin before reinserting it and use some antiseize lube.

are we talking about building a PSL or forum post grammar?

This is getting gay. Twist your muzzle break off the front sight block with the assistance of your machinist skillsets and get on with it already.

Got the receiver today. 30$ transfer meh. Saved gas, so its not that bad.

Figured I could mock the thing up some what so that's what I started to do.
That brought up the first problem
It was missing a hole .

I just dropped a center punch in the hole in the grip to mark it.

Next I figured toss the safety in, That was a no go :/.

just removed a little with a rubber wheel.

After figuring out the trigger group I ran in to this .

Idk what I did right or what I did wrong

The part on the right I have no idea where it goes . And I got a extra pin I guess.

And I also have this problem.

Didn't seem right I have to force the trigger to reset.

start with this. i have not built a PSL--so YMMV as this is AK shit.

trigger's not resetting because IIRC you need to twist the tails of the spring under the hooks of the trigger bar back there. also, did you install that shepherd's hook? you need something to hold those pins in place. if you want to get lazy you can use c-clips, otherwise you need the plate, the hook, or the L-spring.

The trigger group is basically the same as a ak ,I was reading about people replacing them with tapco g2 trigger.
Ill try what you said with the the spring hooks.
I didn't bother putting the Shepard's hook in cause I was just mocking it up etc. I plan on buying the plate to replace the spring.

The main thing I'm worried about is the safety not going in its like the tang is to long or something .

it will fit, the end of the pin fits flush with the outside face of the receiver.

if it's like pretty much every AK kit out there, the disconnector is ****ed.

I can get the saftey in no problem with out the disconnect /trigger in.
Last night in my drunken vodka state . figured if i started drinking vodka id figure it out... so i force it forwards but I had to remove the trigger to get it out . Lol
So I take it that its just a stupid ak quark.

I really don't get why the trigger not resetting .

I thought I did the hamme spring right .

I did it sober at first lol .. Only parts I left out where these.

Turns out I can't even use the Shepard's hook from the parts kit even if I wanted to. True psl's have a third pin that's part of the saftey setup that the ATF worry a that it can be made into full auto etc.

Guess ill just order a trigger and a retaining plate .

wat? a PSL is never capable of automatic fire. i mean that would be COOL, but (and if i am wrong someone correct me)... WTF boy?

So a Tapco G2 trigger kit is needed? Just wondering because I bought a kit unsure if I needed it.

yes, buy a trigger kit if only to know your parts will all work. i tried saving money and re-using all the shit from a romanian kit and it had a bad disconnector, got the other one from a polish kit i had--same story.

It's not needed its just better then the stock one. After test fitting it last night im just going to buy it cause its alot easier to install and remove.lol

When I get home with a cool head I'm gonna look it over and make sure i put it in right . I probably rushed and didn't wind the spring right and that's why I won't reset.

this thread reminds me of watching lame porn. at first you are all like, YEAH THIS GON' BE GOOD! because of the hot red head in the thumbnail, but the longer it goes on the longer you sit with a semi and eventually it just sits in the back ground while you start reading other threads on NES.
