As mentioned before, prestige is the stock and trade in academia - who has it, who does not, how can you get more than the next guy. The UofR is a highish second rate academic institution; RIT is regarded more as a 3rd rate tech school. The is not enough info on what training program to judge where it is on the tier.Training =/= experience, and it won't matter in a way that will actually change her life for the better. She needs to find a way to differentiate herself other than some "training program". If the "best in the world" is in Rochester, that's a load of bull. Somewhere someone is doing it far better.
Rochester is home of the Garbage Plate… ‘nuff said… it was a sh*t hole a couple decades ago when I was looking at schools — Hard pass on RIT. Went to a different school in NY (I wasn’t a collector then, so didn’t matter much).
No experience with current NYS gun lawz, but friends in the state swear it’s awful. Maybe it will make you appreciate MA and come running back?
Hit me up if you want me to care for any HK’s for you in your absence
He won't be able to own sh*t except some shotguns.Have fun with that. At least you can probably get an NYS permit and own 2 or 3 boring guns until the courts have their say.... moving for training and not a job? Wtaf. Not my circus...
Whatever training program she is going to, I can guarantee there is a better one either in MA or in a friendlier State. I don't even need to know what her training program is to bet on that.As mentioned before, prestige is the stock and trade in academia - who has it, who does not, how can you get more than the next guy. My definitions:
2nd rate - Second only to Harvard, MIT, Stanford, etc.
3rd rate tech - Second to places that are second to MIT. For example, CMU is "top 10' in tech, but second to MIT and RIT is below that on the prestige chain.
Nowhere. He will be stuck there like 99% of people that move somewhere "temporarily". He won't be getting laid anymore and will regret handing his balls over to her.So while you say "moving", sounds like 3 years for the training program? Where would you move to after that?
Actually, guns is a really good reason.Do a cba
Is this training worth uprooting your life
Is it 7 figures when shes done or are you moving to rochester potentially f***ing up your employment sitch for 10k a year
Also is it going to be the differentiator in her field?
For example
I worked for a few small places in the northeast and never could get in at a true enterprise...i took a job in fl for a huge company...and because of that i was able to get my current gig
Training can be secondary usually the prestige is what people care about
Lastly you'd have to pretttty much chain me to a basement to get me to move anywhere near the great lakes...especially near detroit or buffalo...too cold too much snow but thats me
Also dont base your move off only guns wgaf about guns... you can get guns anywhere if you catch my meaning.
Dont move to ny for the rest of the bullshit
Conflating 2 things I'm very over the snow so anywhere near the great lakes is out for lake affect snow... not cuz detroit is there.Actually, guns is a really good reason.
Gun laws have a good correlation with how big of a sh*t hole a place is. All the hardcode anti 2A States keep importing illegal immigrants, have insane taxes and continue to push for insane laws and bullsh*t that affects every day life, not just 2A.
And, as far as getting guns any other way, 99% of NES doesn't have the balls to get guns any inherent way than "another way". So not sure why that was mentioned.
As far as places near the great lakes, Michigan is beautiful. Detroit is just a small city in a huge State. 20-30min outside of Detroit is awesome.
NYS § 270.20 and "taking possession" in 270.21. Not clear if the law would cover IIIA flat panels.Looks like the other retard law that recently came in effect in NY is it's now illegal to have body armor. Can't make it more difficult for cops and bad guys to kill you. Is it the only state that bans it? I bet a bunch of the Moms Demand anti gunners are pissed as well now they can't slip in some IIIA panels into their kids' backpacks anymore.
Yup...why not...our own government does that..Disregard laws.
F*ck that. Not enough water.Conflating 2 things I'm very over the snow so anywhere near the great lakes is out for lake affect snow... not cuz detroit is there.
Too cold as well
I would say the gun laws are a nice barometer of suckiness... but i would also just ignore them for a place like Colorado or new mexico if it were it necessary
I hear you lol.. I'm not going out that way just using it as the only example i could come up with off the top of my head... southeast is perfectly fine for me...tenn Kentucky are in there as wellF*ck that. Not enough water.
And CO is going full retard.
Brother, I’ll just say this once….So my fiancee is fairly set on us moving to Rochester, NY …
Any chance you can move to commuting distance in another state, say halfway to Pennsylvania or Ohio?So my fiancee is fairly set on us moving to Rochester, NY next spring-summer for post professional training. Apparently there's a program in Rochester that is one of the best in the country. With the new double clamping down by Queen Hochul, it seems gun laws are actually worse than after the SCOTUS Bruen decision. The queen laid down THE LAW. I told her if we have to move there, we have to move there and she'll win vs. my guns every time, but if there's another option, that would be far preferable than setting foot in NY state. The new laws there make MA and CT look like free states. Apparently you need FOUR 'good moral character' notarized references from people living in the same county as you plan to move to - and you must have known them for over a year And must give up all your social media accounts and passwords you've used in the last three years [does NES count as social media?]. Telling the license officer "none, I don't use social media" is often an instant denial. What psycho doesn't use social, right? Also moving in handguns is absolutely illegal until you get your permit, which may take anywhere between a year and three years or more. So what would be the best solution for handguns? Sell them all to Four Seasons at pawn prices? Let an NY FFL hold onto it for you for 3 years and pay the storage fee?
Does anyone have first hand experience living in Rochester or surrounding areas? Much obliged!
Using NYS standards, here is the picture, assuming you make $300K and you divorce when the 3 kids are under 6:Brother, I’ll just say this once….
you can divorce before marriage a lot easier than afterwards, with 3 kids and facing a lifetime of poverty, hard labor with child support payments that put you just above the poverty line until you are old and gray and worn out…as judged by a SJW lesbian judge in a hardcore family-hating socialist state
You can’t go hop into a time machine and come back to now.
This prob belongs in the MGTOW thread but think long and hard about this move and whether it might be the moment to cut the rope and save yourself a lifetime of sorrow.
Not a chance, unless I start my own man made island on the lake and declare independence.Any chance you can move to commuting distance in another state, say halfway to Pennsylvania or Ohio?
Be very careful not to nut in the wrong woman and that won't be a problem, right?Using NYS standards, here is the picture, assuming you make $300K and you divorce when the 3 kids are under 6:
1. Child Support Payment (No Income Cap, typical with men-hating women judges):
- Annual: $87,000
- Monthly: $7,250
2. Disposable Income After Taxes and Child Support:
- Annual: $93,000
- Monthly: $7,750 (you have to live in NY and pay everything out of this for the next 20 years)
3. Total Child Support Paid Until Age 21:
- Over 16 years (assuming child support is paid until they are 21): $1,392,000
——
Assumptions:
- Annual Gross Income: $300,000
- Tax Reduction: 40%
- Number of Children: 3
- Child Support Percentage for 3 Children: 29%
- No Income Cap Considered
- Children's Current Age: Under 5
- Age of Emancipation in New York: 21
- Take-Home Income After Tax:
- Annual: $180,000 (60% of $300,000, considering a 40% tax deduction)
- Monthly: $15,000
- Child Support Payment (Without Income Cap):
- Annual: $87,000 (29% of $300,000, as there's no income cap considered)
- Monthly: $7,250
- Disposable Income After Taxes and Child Support (Without Income Cap):
- Annual: $93,000 ($180,000 - $87,000)
- Monthly: $7,750
- Total Child Support Paid Until Age 21 (Without Income Cap):
- If the children are currently under 5, they will be supported for approximately 16 more years. The total child support over this period is $1,392,000 ($87,000 annually for 16 years).
Remember they’re all at least a 4 on the crazy scale.Be very careful not to nut in the wrong woman and that won't be a problem, right?
Easy way to find out if she is the wrong woman. Tell her you don't want to move to NY and ask her if she can do the same training here or in another State.Be very careful not to nut in the wrong woman and that won't be a problem, right?
Big THIS. If you can't have a dead serious discussion with her, or you're afraid to, she ain't the one.Easy way to find out if she is the wrong woman. Tell her you don't want to move to NY and ask her if she can do the same training here or in another State.
Do that, thank NES later.
A California buddy of mine had the same tough dilemma with his wifey. She got into Wash U for law school full ride but wanted to go to Columbia and pay full sticker cause it's simply "better". Ended up going to Columbia and he's on the hook for loans.Easy way to find out if she is the wrong woman. Ask my wife and daughter what Rule #1 is. My daughter will roll her eyes and walk away, but my wife will at least tell you that Rule #1 is "That bitch is crazy" before walking away.Remember they’re all at least a 4 on the crazy scale.
It only gets worse with age and kids and divorced liberal friends at work etc. And then they realize the system is hard tilted in their favor and all they have to do is call 1-800-Get-YourLifeBack lawyer and you are done until you are bald, grey and 10 years from retirement age.
My daughter got a free merit ride to Brandeis but wanted to go to Tufts because it was higher on her list. Tufts was about $75k/yr all-in at the time. I told her that if she went to Brandeis that I would pay every ancillary cost that came up, but if she went to Tufts, I'd pay half and she could take out loans for the rest. She actually thought about it for a long time before we sat her down at the table one night, put the Brandeis paperwork in front of her, and told her to sign it.A California buddy of mine had the same tough dilemma with his wifey. Crazy is ok if your name is Tiffany though. Refer to the chart.Ask my wife and daughter what Rule #1 is. My daughter will roll her eyes and walk away, but my wife will at least tell you that Rule #1 is "That bitch is crazy" before walking away.
Only way to deal with any woman (spouse, child, related, stranger, or anything in between) is to make that assumption. May or may not be true in the case of the one you're dealing with, but if you assume "That bitch is crazy" in every interaction, you'll always take the safe path forward.

See Rule #1 above.
The only safe bet is to assume they are all above the line.
