The version of the bill that eliminates the non-resident LTC is the House version of the bill. The Senate version doesn’t seem to have that provision contained within it that I can see.I have been following this as a non resident ltc holder. Post 94 neutered AKs were allowed under the federal ban. The Mass AWB states it shall have the same meaning as the federal ban.General Law - Part I, Title XX, Chapter 140, Section 121

Definitely not every shop is selling post-ban AKs. Even if they were, dealers aren’t legal experts. Some dealers have definitely been guilty of selling items that neither of us can deny are assault weapons.

The federal ban said "Norinco, Mitchell, and Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs (all models)". So like the Colt AR-15 entry, it listed a BRAND of AK. Norinco, Mitchell and Polytech were therefore all banned post 94 (not an issue since the import ban of 89 ended them anyway). But federally they treated other brands as just fine so a WASR 10 or whatever would be fine.
Go re-read the house bill. It does.
