MA Gun Grab 2024: Senate bill S.2572

Good question. Do you register an 80% lower as a pistol, rifle, machine gun, SBR...? Do you need an MG license to own one under this bill?

Stop posting this stupid garbage. Better yet, just stop posting. At this point, nearly eight years after Healey's edict, even my cat understands it better than you.

I got a pic with it! :D U jelly?
Trick question - you don't register shit.
*disclaimer* IANAL and I'm all out of soap on a rope to hand out

I have been following this as a non resident ltc holder. Is this thing likely to pass because it appears my LTC will be gone if it does. Been a membee of Holland Rod and Gun for years and really like that club😞

The version of the bill that eliminates the non-resident LTC is the House version of the bill. The Senate version doesn’t seem to have that provision contained within it that I can see.

However, make no mistake, something will absolutely pass. The House and Senate will need to reconcile the differences between their two bills and decides what stays and what goes. It remains to be seen whether or not non-resident LTCs are actually done for.

Something is 100% passing.

We are getting raped.

The question is, do we get raped with a 12" dildo or a 9" dildo? Lubed or dry?

“''Assault weapon'', shall have the same meaning as a semiautomatic assault weapon as defined in the federal Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. section 921(a)(30) as appearing in such section on September 13, 1994, and shall include, but not be limited to, any of the weapons, or copies or duplicates of the weapons, of any caliber, known as: (i) Avtomat Kalashnikov (AK) (all models);
Post 94 neutered AKs were allowed under the federal ban. The Mass AWB states it shall have the same meaning as the federal ban.

Except the MA ban slightly differs from the federal ban.

The MA ban says "Avtomat Kalashnikov (AK) (all models)". The federal ban says "Norinco, Mitchell, and Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs (AKs) (all models)"

This means that under the MA ban, you can’t make an AWB complaint AK. Under the federal ban, you could as long as it wasn’t Norinco, Mitchell or Poly Tech.

LOL, yes you can.
Maybe you can tell that to every shop that has been selling complete post ban AKs in MA.
And there are several threads in NES about it.

Definitely not every shop is selling post-ban AKs. Even if they were, dealers aren’t legal experts. Some dealers have definitely been guilty of selling items that neither of us can deny are assault weapons.

Sporting rifles , without the bayo lug and forward handgrip, and flash hider.

Regrettably true. Something had to be done to respond to Bruen.

The MA bill sucks, but interestingly, does not virtually invalidate LTCs as "carry permits" like the NY vampire rule and expansion of "sensitive places" to include large public areas did.

And selling an illegal AW carries the same punishment as owning one. I trust @CrackPot when he says yes/no to something.

It DOES NOT ban anything.

How many times do people have to tell you that?

Where are the AKs then? And, new ARs?

Are you here just to try to justify selling overpriced stuff in the marketplace?

Show me anywhere else that has pre Healey Noveskes.

Whose interpretation? Healey’s or the AG?

What is the interpretation? Do you know what interpretation means?
Healeys FAQ is still on the state website.

Only the judiciary can interpret the law. The executive branch enforces it. So at most Healeys interpretation says who they will arrest and take to court but the judiciary decides if the law was actually broken. The problem for Healey is we had 10 years of federal interpretation and it is binding since the current AWB says “shall have the same meaning ” as federal law. So everything she said was bupkus. But hey, who cares about actual civics when you can spread FUD and try and make money off the ignorant.

Responding to your most because all of Reptiles content I blocked years ago.
My customers just want to follow Healeys Edict.

The AK’s dried up in 2016 after the conference.

If there is/was a loophole. Please PM me as I missed it.
Yet, some folks on NES say the Healey ban is meaningless.

Tell that to the dealers that have not been stocking their shops with new Noveske ARs.

Let me know who has a complete Noveske Gen 4 AR for sale.

Thank you. I wish there was something I could do from CT. I did send an emal to the Holland Rep since I have family and roots there.

He’s the one who started this whole thread on AK’s being illegal in the first place:
You already can’t build AKs. All post 94 AKs are assault weapons under the current law.

The new law makes all ARs assault weapons. So building them would be a problem, yes.

If the 2016 Healey conference was just a conference- why did the dealers get spooked?

But yes, new law coming.

Worse than Healey Edict.

Holy smoke. They're banning CNC mills.
That'll really stem the tide.

There's all your electronics and motors. If you're handy in the basement workshop, you can manufacture damned near anything you want.

You've got it easy. You think Winchester, Henry, Browning and the others had CNC shops and CAD plans for their muskets and bayos? [laugh] There's a group of gun manufacturers producing AMAZING counterfeit 1911's. Their base of operations is a frigging mud hut in the hills of the Philippines. They use hand tools.

I really thought I was kidding about the inbreeding producing our current politicians in that other thread. Not so sure. This takes a special kind of stupid, not the run of the mill variety of stupid.

and all plastic 3d printers too. then drills, hammers and saws.
it is how all socialist laws work - absolutely everything needs to be illegal, so that allows law enforcement all the operational freedom to be able to convict anyone for anything.
from other perspective, when you know it is possible to be done to you - you no longer really worry that much, and just live prepared for the worst.

The federal ban said "Norinco, Mitchell, and Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs (all models)". So like the Colt AR-15 entry, it listed a BRAND of AK. Norinco, Mitchell and Polytech were therefore all banned post 94 (not an issue since the import ban of 89 ended them anyway). But federally they treated other brands as just fine so a WASR 10 or whatever would be fine.

The MA AWB says "Avtomat Kalashnikov (AK) (all models)". No brand. so ALL brands are impacted. You never get to the feature test because they are all covered by this change in the MA version of the AWB.

The new law does not mention how to dispose of our ARs.

Very short sighted.

Maybe there is no plan.

Maybe they will grandfather in the final version and will use grandfathering as a bargaining chip.
Go re-read the house bill. It does.

Sell them out of state, move them out of state or turn them in.

ETA. For someone who can find the most obscure news story hidden deep in a news site. How the hell do you not understand what’s going on in your back yard? Even with us spoon feeding you the details?
