As an owner of an SVI, I am qualified to agree with the above statement. I took it out to GunPowder Pig and even The Great EC himself was impressed.

$2500 to $5500, probably more. Personally I think money is better spend on a custom STI

The gun would be a carry gun....self defense. I am on the fence with the pistols that have more than 8 rounds in the sense that it's one of those things that I would LIKE (who wouldnt?!) but I am not going to pass up a good pistol because it doesnt hold more than 8 rounds.

I find that a loaded, double stack Para P14-45 is just to heavy for me to carry all day long. Yes, I do have a quality gun belt from Lou Alessi.
