Linsky after bump stocks AND pre ban mags !!!!!!!!!

I think "damage control" is a better word than "victory" or "compromise". I support the concept of compromise, but it requires both parties to actually give something.

There hasn't been a true compromise in regard to firearms legislation in this country since the Revolution. Though if you consider compromise as what happens when both parties are unhappy with the result, you'd be right. The grabbers have never been happy that guns haven't been outlawed, and we're unhappy because they keep chipping away at our rights. [angry]

If I believed in unicorns a real compromise would be getting the AG stricken from regulating guns in exchange to specifically ban
bump stocks. (this would ban bump stocks, but kill HealeyBan and the AG's regs). In reality though in a place like MA this never happens.

I can count on less than two hands, the number of times, nationally, that antis actually compromised with gun owners and both parties "felt like they won. " Usually it's just the antis stealing rights away and gun owners getting the shaft.

Bumpfire stock will be banned here. period, you know that even if it's not happening at this second. We are still under healy's AWB, legit or not. it's going to happen in MA here. All the trade deal discussion is under Federal level. We are the minority here in MA.

WA state, pre-Brady bill:

They got: Background check for persons without a carry permit
We got: May issue => Shall issue

Wasn't this when they added suitability to the now Shall Issue FID (so not really shall issue)? I could be wrong on when it was added.

Which is why I asked the question: Is MA now going to issue MG licenses to all those who now possess bumpstocks and crankfires? Otherwise it is an unlawful taking by denial of use of private property that was lawfully possessed prior to any law being amended.

You can't have it both ways MA legislature......shit or get off the pot.

Remember, we are talking about Massachusetts! Example : Video shows State cops beating the hell of a guy who was on the ground! And the cop is yelling to get on the F@#k ground as he punches the guy in the face. The Judge : state cop not GUILTY

I'm so disgusted with this state. I know I was one of the biggest proponents of staying here and putting up a fight, but it's time to leave. We've lost, plain and simple and every time we lose, we say thank you for using lube this time. I'm tired of it. I can't believe the state has basically put a gun to my head and said, resist, and you become a felon, resist further, and you're dead.

why would you die? they ain't got no training who's going to kill you? they'll be shitting green lmao

. nothing will change in MA unless SCOTUS will rule on the 2a in favor of modern sporting rifles, no limit on standard and high capacity magazines etc etc. They're quick to go after guns but people on welfare milking the system for years oh no

Statement On MA State Senate Bump Stock Vote

GOAL thanks Massachusetts Senators Tarr, Moore, Rodrigues, and other members of the senate for taking on “runaway train” house amendment in senate budget bill.

October 13, 2017

Yesterday, the Massachusetts State Senate voted 38-0 in favor of their revision to an amendment to ban bump stocks and trigger cranks that was part of the House version of the budget bill, H.3951.

The amendment, passed by the House nearly unanimously the day before, would have made drastic change to MA gun laws, in that it would have banned trigger cranks, bump stocks, and any other modification of a firearm, including installation of match-grade triggers, or even a simple modification like smoothing out the action of a pump-action shotgun. It would have also granted unbridled regulatory authority to the Commonwealth over all firearms maintenance, enhancements, and modifications.

The Senate version is much clearer in definition and provides a pathway to legal ownership, a drastic improvement over the House version. The Senate version provides clear definition of these items and defines a “Bump Stock” as a device for a semi-automatic firearm that increases the rate of fire achievable with such firearm by using energy from the recoil of the firearm to generate a reciprocating action that facilitates repeated activation of the trigger. A “Trigger Crank” is defined as any device to be attached to a semi-automatic firearm that repeatedly activates the trigger of the firearm through the use of a lever or other part that is turned in a circular motion, but does not include any firearm initially designed and manufactured to fire through the use of a crank or lever.

Having been passed in the Senate, this proposal will move to a conference committee. This is far from over and the final version of this amendment is yet to be determined before heading to Governor Baker’s desk. GOAL will notify our members as soon as we know whom the conferees are, at that time we will release an action alert. Stay tuned to www.goal.org and your email inbox for further updates on this bill.

While GOAL did not and does not support any legislative action on these products, we must recognize the hard work of Senator Bruce Tarr, Senator Michael Moore, Senator Michael Rodrigues and other members of the senate. They worked tirelessly yesterday to mitigate the damage that the House amendment would do and Governor Baker promised to sign.

Additionally, GOAL has received word from the State House that the Joint Committee on Public Safety has scheduled a public hearing for Monday, October 16, 2017 on bump stock legislation. After the theatrics of the last few days, this is a curious development as the hearing process is now moot. Regardless, as soon as we have hearing details and see which specific bills are included, we will notify our membership.

Finally, we would like to thank our members for the continued support. This last week has been extremely challenging as we have faced a legislature activated by emotion.

Great point. So what we must do it, make sure people (not just gun owners) understand that we are losing freedom that our ancestors fought and died to make sure we lived as free men and woman

I'm confused. The last I saw of the senate bill didn't have "a pathway to legal ownership" short of a machinegun license - is that what GOAL is talking about?

You mean like the BFG9000? The guy in Lexington already tried to ban that...

you'd think people would have learned over the past couple of years.

coming here to post about how clever you are since you discovered a loophole/workaround is not the brightest idea. We had too much of that after 7/20.....and we watched the edict evolve in real time in response.

You disagree about what? I never said "we're safe now". All I said is that even if the Linsky version becomes law, we're still better off for the Tarr version having passed the senate. Could a future administration use the regulatory power created by Linsky to implement something much broader than the Tarr language? Of course. Will they? Maybe, but maybe not.

I disagree the Tarr language passing the Senate will be of any benefit at all if they frame the law to allow EOoPS to regulate the issue like Linsky proposed.

I wish we had some sort of document signed by important people that was supposed to prevent this kind of abuse.

I know. I wish the founding fathers would have had some foresight.

I know. I wish the founding fathers would have had some foresight.

They had, but they can't prevent people giving up guns willingly. That's on us to water the tree.

"provides a pathway to legal ownership"

Will I be able to apply for a Machine Gun license now?

My town does not issue them.

Will that change?

I think if I meet the criteria for a MG license I should be able to get one.

We have to stop being easy pinatas and use our expertise in pointing out how our government does not work at all when it comes to situations like this one in Las Vegas. I see no other way.
Specifically attaching names of every POS who perpetrated it in their quest for power.

I've got something they can add.......

Effing stupidity.....then they themselves would be in violation of the law.....
