Greetings all. I recently sent a letter to Senator Kennedy regarding the recent Heller decision. I recieved the following email in response to that letter. I must admit, I puked a little in my mouth when I read this. It shows just what an ignorant, drunken douchebag Kennedy really is. Please feel free to comment, or better yet....send him a response.

Thank you for your letter on the nation's gun laws. There is no doubt that the easy availability of firearms, particularly handguns, contributes to the unacceptable toll of death and injury from gun violence.

We must end the arms race in our cities, towns, and our neighborhoods. I support tough punishment for violent criminals, but I also believe that is not a sufficient answer to the problem. There are steps we can take to prevent violent crime before it occurs. It is time for Congress to act to place reasonable restrictions on access to dangerous weapons.

Congress took an important first step by enacting the Brady Bill in 1993, which imposed a nation-wide five-day waiting period on the purchase of handguns. We need comprehensive legislation to strengthen the regulation of federal firearms dealers and limit the importation of foreign-made weapons. It is also time to limit the number of guns that may be purchased at one time.

In the past, I have been a sponsor of legislation that follows the example of Massachusetts and requires handgun purchasers throughout the country to obtain a license proving they are qualified and responsible enough to own handguns. More recently, I have introduced the Children's Gun Violence Prevention Act, to protect children from gun violence.

None of these measures will infringe on the legitimate rights of hunters and other sportspeople. The Second Amendment is not a constitutional obstacle to the regulation of firearms, since the amendment by its own terms deals with the rights of the state militia, not individuals. The framers of the Constitution surely did not intend to leave Congress powerless to protect the public from an epidemic of gun-related violence.

I am committed to keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, without undue burden to law-abiding citizens who choose to use firearms for legitimate sporting purposes. Reasonable gun control is an important part of the effort to protect the American people from violent crime. Again, thank you for writing to me on this important issue.

Sincerely,
Edward M. Kennedy

It’s a canned email probably written in 1994. If anyone sends anything regarding “gun” “Second Amendment” etc, this probably gets fired back. No pun intended.

How about license proving users are qualified and responsible enough to own cars? ASSHAT!!!!

It's why when people from other states tell me to write my Senator and Congressman, I think KKF... Kennedy, Kerry, Frank! Why waste my time writing to them. Instead I write to supportive Senators, and try to contribute to their campaigns.

Writing letters to Teddy is a joke, if it has to do with guns.

Must have been a canned reply...if not, he sure as heck didn't read what Justice Scalia had to say about handguns re Heller...

"Such a weapon is easier to store in a location that is readily accessible in an emergency; it cannot easily be redirected or wrestled away by an attacker; it is easier to use for those without the upper-body strength to lift and aim a long rifle; it can be pointed at a burglar with one hand while the other hand dials the police."

Senator Kennedy needs to update his outgoing messages on firearms and get with the program! Saints preserve us!

I still don't feel bad about his head.

sad part is... if he is still kicking when his seat comes up... these morons in MA will still re-elect him, even if he is literally on his death bed.

I can't say I wish an illness such as cancer on anyone. However at the same time, having an illness that can effect one's judgement should keep them from obtaining a govenment position.

How about

"Dear Senator Kennedy,

we feel that your ability to represent the people (The same "people" as described in the Declaration Of Independance, U.S. Constitution, and speciffically the Bill Of Rights) has been eclipsed by your own personal agenda. We would like to know just how many of us it would take, if at all, to convince you that the general population does not support more gun control in order for you to do your job properly and adequately represent the American population.

Sincerely,

The neighbor of the raving lunatic socialists that keeps voting your scumbag ass back into the Senate"

Every time I send something to Kerry no matter the subject I get exactly the same response word for word. At least with Barney Frank when he responds he at least refers to the subject at hand. No matter how much I disagree with his answer.

[rolleyes] F'ing unbelievable. [thinking]

I strongly believe the framers of the Constitution intended to leave the people the power to protect themselves from an epidemic of governmental abuse.

I agree. I read this exact same reply letter at least 5 years ago somewhere else. Nothing ever changes with that bloated old boozehound. [frown]

Good people die everyday and the POS is still a pain in the honest man's balls.[sad]

Or, as I was once wont to say, "A bus goes by here every 20 minutes. Be under the next one".

Maybe the old Lion of the Senate needs a little help finding his ... seat.

Kennedy is not oblivious to Heller or to gun laws, the people writing to him about gun rights and gun laws are. People seem oblivious to the fact that the man lost two brothers to 'perceived' (hand)gun violence. Asking him to suddenly support gun rights is like the sheep asking the wolf a question.

Vote him out instead.

what a moron that guy is....

He has been nothing more than an embarrassment to politics.

that must be why MA has always loved the idiot. He fits into their description of worthwhile.

Heller does allow for reasonable restriction of firearm ownership in federal districts like Washington, D.C. It has to be incorporated via Parker before it becomes meaningful.

A little ironic that the canned message comes from somebody who actually killed somebody, huh?

Kennedy

Death bed !! We should be so lucky!! He's in no rush to croak he still has to answer for a girl named -MARYJOE KOPECKNE- that's been almost 40 years in the making!!! Satan has no use for him and the good lord doesn't want him!!

If I remember right, his brothers were killed by Lee Harvey Oswald and Sirhan Bishara Sirhann. They were killed by men WITH guns, not killed BY guns. Of course someone like Ted Kennedy is going to demonize the object someone uses to murder someone. After all, why would a politician who is a murderer himself want the sheep to think that a person makes the choice to kill. It suits his cause much better to demonize the object used to kill (whether it's a gun or a car) instead of the person who made the bad coice.

BTW, does anyone know Kennedy's record when it comes to strengthening DUI laws?

Ted Kennedy has made it his life's business to put a little bit more miserableness into a lot of people's lives. He demonstrated what kind of person he was with that drunken drive into the water so many years ago, and he has screwed this country over for a long time with his legislation around illegal immigration and other things that have directly benefitted the Democratic party - while screwing the country as a whole. People like this deserve illness. Wishing it on him probably just isn't the right thing to do. But if you got a little smile on your face when you first heard about it doesn't make you a bad person either.

So by that definition what he really is - is selfish and ignorant, and maybe even a little mean spirited. He obviously doesn't care about all of the people who have lost loved ones because they could not defend themselves, he is ignorant of history because he doesn't bother to take in the lessons of things like the Holocaust - where gun confiscation was one of the precursors to that happening. And he is mean spirited because he uses his power to push his own agenda on people who do not agree with it.

It takes a lot less time to just say he is a douchebag - but sometimes you have to elaborate on why.
