Lol. When did Glock start making 1911's?

(Doh! Posted at the same time as Mike.)

WAAAHHHHHH!!!! Oh, horrors!!! People are painting their guns something other than blue! And black! And gray! And brown! Cops could hesitate!

Hey, Sparky... got a novel idea for ya: If someone points something that looks like a GUN at a cop, the cop can assume it's a gun and SHOOT. (Yeah, I know... the guilt a cop will feel for shooting some kid with a toy would be crushing. But so would his widow's (or her widower's) grief - when you're putting your life on the line, can you afford to hesitate?)

I mean, really... They've had paint around for decades now. Gangbangers painting the orange muzzle on toy guns black... who's to say that they haven't been painting real guns with the orange?

That was my very first thought when I first saw all the toy guns coming with the orange muzzles. Any young kid with access to a paint can is gonna think his toy is much cooler after he paints that back black again, and any hoodlum is going to immediately realize that painting his real gun with an orange muzzle is gonna possibly give him an advantage if the other guy hesitates.

They have been for years and most PDs are aware of it.

Thus my first comment on the subject:

No, I haven't. A fellow I know who is an ICE agent has been pretty worked up over this issue at times, but I don't think he's run into one of them.

I can't believe they spent almost 4 minutes crying about something they admitted they have never seen a case of.

My tolerance for asshats is growing thin.

Will they try to take T shirts away from little girls?

Will my teen aged granddaughter be put on a watch list?
Only if she's evil foolish enough to wear it to a school, in which case, yes. She'll be sent home, and likely get detention. Who knows, they may try to make her write GUNS R BAD 100 times on the blackboard. [rolleyes]

That Bryan Soller sounds like an ass saying that it's not illegal to paint a gun, as if it should be. NO S***! What difference does it make what color it is.

+1... and even if it -was- illegal, do these numskulls think that criminals would obey that law? [laugh]

I can see it now... at the local stop n rob... guy robbing a store with a pink gun... and then some socialist doofus going "Oh, he's just messing with you, that gun is fake, its AGAINST THE LAW to paint.... " -BLAM!-

Prrrrrreeeetttttyyyy gunnnnssss....

soooo brrrriiiigghhhttt annnnd coooollllooorrrfulllll...

I can imagine Homer Simpson saying that.

In my opinion, when ever a BG points a gun at a cop she should me neutralized. These colorful guns give police the benefit of the doubt that they should be able to use deadly force against any person who points a gun at a cop.

Any fool who points a toy gun with blaze orange on it, at a cop, deserves to be Darwined anyway.

OK, let's try this scenario:
Painting real hardware with bright colors to look like toys grows in popularity.
Increased number of painted guns in circulation.
Knowledge of same ends most hesitation from individuals to respond to a brandished item.
More dead with toy in hand.
How many to be kids vs perps?
Some BG's also dead, yes (that's the only good part).

And from the other side, having to respond to a life threatening situation with a "toyish" piece of hardware in hand, could put you in a less-than-in-charge visual presentation.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but how many BG will have a gun made to look like a toy before th rob a bank, a convenience store or kill there spouse? IMHO an adult pulls that in a bank, the tellers are makin fun of him under their breath.

another thought is if a gun-owner has a color-full gun it could only confuse the BG.

In the self-defense scenario, you want the perp to know you mean business. Many intended victims are alive today because of this. If one is forced to use deadly force to protect one-self or others, I would not want to be the one explaining to the court that "I had to shot the dirt bag because he laughed at my toy gun and kept coming."

I would never make that statement in court. just this. he came close "I was in fear of my life" he kept coming so I shot. leaving out you had a dumb-ass clown gun. let the lawyers point out you had a stupid lookin gun.

The statement was meant to be satire upon the reality of the circumstance. Besides, the dumb-ass clown gun would be obvious as it lay on the evidence table.
