Can't reason with stupid people. He went on for like 20 mins on how 9/11 was inside job and that it was brilliantly planned by W. then 30 mins he went on how dumb and stupid W was and how he couldn't even talk right. I pointed this out and go the whole 'But where are the WMD's in Iraq?"

I am classifying him as the "College know it all Hippy" per Cartman's description of hippies
 
Wife: licensed, though she's not comfortable enough to carry much yet.

Daughter: Loves 'em - can't wait to go shooting with Daddy.

Dad: Got me into the whole thing, gifted me my first gun. Recently bitten by milsurp bug. Stepmom doesn't like 'em, but that makes it easier for Dad to keep a "fuzzy" inventory. [wink]

Mom: Claims that I'm going to get my name on "all kinds of lists" and shakes her head a lot... But always handles the new arrivals and brags about how she used to handle my old man's .44 mag before they split many moons ago. [wink]

Grandparents: Guns in the home, Grandmother tells stories of her great (uncle?) who was a decorated marksman in the Civil War.

Aunts and uncles: Vary from gun owners to "Guns aren't bad, but keep my house empty of them."

Cousins: Various - one of which is VERY pro-gun and works as a contractor doing stuff he can't talk about that he gets paid a shit-ton of money for in Iraq (the last few years) and now Afghanistan.

You can go to school and BS your way through several degrees.....you can work out at the gym and get liposuction.....you can have your teeth made brilliantly white....you can wear the finest clothes.....BUT YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID
 
I wouldn't say anyone in my immediate family is anti-gun. Up until last year 4 people lived in my house including myself. My brother moved out last year so its just my parents and I now. My father also has is LTC so there is definitely not a problem there. My mom and brother don't really care. They don't have their permits and have never expressed interest in getting it. I could care less if anyone else in my family likes it or not.


A lot of times my father tells me I have enough guns and I don't need more or I don't need an assault rifle. He is against having a lot of guns or people having assault rifles but he has had his permit a long time. So, he remembers the days where you could buy whatever you wanted in this state and everything was pretty cheap. Now, he sees what I pay for some of my guns and its really a money issue. He just doesn't want to see me spending all my money on guns. He never gives me a problem about it though. If that's what I want, that's what I want. Often times he carries one of my guns before he carries his own. [laugh]
 
My old man is anti gun. He is also a die hard liberal is will vote and reiterate party thoughts and ideas. He feels guns are for hunting and i don't need an AR and i tell him he doesn't need a new computer and how would he feel if the gonverment told him what to drive? He still doesn't get it.

I did tell him if the SHTF he is welcome at the house but don't come empty handed and if we run out of food we eat the liberals first.
 
Sure but who cares! If the wife was she could start looking for another husband. If it was a question of her or the guns going it would be her!

But to address the fun part of your question, how do you handle it? For the Pro gun members, I take them shooting, for the in laws (the ANTIS), I flaunt it whenever they come to visit. I will make it a point to clean all my EBR's when they come to visit or to "gear up" right in front of them before we go out for the night. Why? Because I can!

Here are some responses I have given them
Mother-in-law: We are just going to dinner, do you really think you need that thing?"
response (which I can't take credit for, I heard this somewhere before I said it): "If I thought I "NEEDED" it, we would not be going. In fact, had that kind of foresight, I wouldn't need guns at all. I would just avoid every situation before it happened"

Before the next one, let me explain my storage. My guns are either on me or locked in a key safe with the keys in a combo safe right above it. The only exception is my Loc Box for my shotgun but my friend below does not know about that one. A very secure scenario
Friend: "My kids are not coming over your house. Its just too unsafe"
Me: "You don't trust me with your kids? There is no safer place for them to be"

Are you sitting down? Ok, good. Here was her response

friend: "No, its not that. I trust you 100%, I just don't trust the guns"

I had no response
 
Sounds like mom finally came around and said about my AR build "if you can carry one into combat I don't see why you shouldn't have one" Glad to report that I am converting them. I took my little brother to Marlboro today as well, but hes never been anti-gun, just never shot anything.

My older dumbarz, super liberal , narrow minded sister is very anti-gun. She believes there is absolutely no need for people to own them. She feels that it shoudl not be a right , especially since the police and gov are protecting us. Yup the cops will be there when you need them :) good luck with that one retard. She is a good example of a mental ill liberal. Dems good, Reps bad, and Indep are nut cases. So then there is my mother a proud student of the Socialist Republic of Mass. Guns are bad bad bad. She always has these dumb faces when my dad and I share our newest gun finds. :) Then my little brother. A very well respected martialartst but has no clue how to use a gun. I have no use for them I'll use my hands. HAHAHAHAHA good luck with that one CAP!!!! :( I'm sure they would all be standing in the hand out lines when the time comes too.

Normally I would say you can respect their wishes and promise not to use that evil gun to protect them when the times comes. However, they are family and you can't do that. So, you should be allowed to say "told you so" at least once a day for the rest of their lives. :eek:)
 
My sister has now carried her crazy socialist, anti-gun attitude even further. After the fiasco in January I reported earlier, I said I would respect her wishes and lock it in my container in the car. NOW, she comes back and says even if I do that, she doesn't want my car on her property or in front of her house. To which I replied "f*ck you and the socialist agenda you rode in on". When family events happen at her house, I told her she should not expect me unless she is willing to be more reasonable. There is a whole history there, but beyond her anti-gun thing, she has to control everything. Since she doesn't agree with me carrying at all, she will keep pushing until I give into her and say I'm no longer carrying. Don't think so sis!

Damn that's pretty harsh! And I thought I had it bad! Needless to say when I first moved out here to western mass to move back in with my folk's for awhile they were def reluctant to have my firearms come into the house. They don't like to see them though I will make a point to clean them in front of them every once in a while. However, for the most part if I refrain from talking about them I think they tend to forget they're even here, which isn't a bad thing. But I've been bringing up firearms much more lately with H 2259 and everything else and while dad keeps his mouth shut for the most part mom always needs to argue with the points I try to make. The only comment dad makes, which doesn't really bother me, is we'll be watching a movie and somebody will grab a firearm out of their bedroom or something and dad will simply go "hey it looks like Bill's room!"

On a side note (and potential perk)..has anybody noticed that their background check perhaps comes back more quickly when seeking employment? Possibly due to the fact we own firearms? I recently scored a job this week and the background check was supposed to take at least a couple of days, yet my future boss called me up literally 2 minutes after I had filed the forms electronically and pulled out of the parking lot letting me know we already had a green light! I must say I was pleasantly surprised
 
My step mother isn't anti necessarily, but she is afraid of guns. I got a new AR, and brought it over to show my dad. She came into the room, so I showed her, and I had some .223 in my range bag, so I pulled a round out to show her what the rifle shoots. She got scared, and said, "what are you doing with that?", like she thought I was gonna load it and start shooting. AKA she is so scared, she can't think logically, and she is a magistrate (similar to a judge, but appointed), so she definitely is smart and can think logically when she isn't scared of inanimate objects.

I ran into the same situation. Most of my family is indifferent, no interest , neither anti or pro-gun. A family member asked me about my guns so I showed her my safe so she could see that they were secure. She took a look in the safe and got so upset that she started crying for no reason. It was quite bizarre. Some people have a physical reaction to the sight of firearms.

I'm sorry but I burst out laughing when I read this. I can't think of ANYTHING in this world that would make me burst into tears from the very sight of it. Ok well maybe when I was a kid and hated needles and I would cry at the sight of a syringe...but there's a difference between being a kid and a grown adult. The irony is now I go donate blood on a regular basis, go figure!
 
It was very weird, her eyes started tearing up and she got very upset. If your only exposure to guns is fantasyland (TV and movies)
you become indoctrinated to the belief that they "just go off for no reason".
 
Well this is what happens when all the Libs say guns are bad, guns kill children, puppies and innocent people. Add to that the fact that most people never see a gun in real life (except maybe on a cop's hip) and families don't teach them about guns, and there is huge ignorance.
 
You ever seen that 30 days show where they take the lady, ironically from mass and a brady campaign person, to live with the gun owner in Ohio. She cries when she shoots a shotgun, talking nonsense about everytime she hears a gun shot she thinks of a kid dying...Check it out if have not seen it..I am sure its online..
 
my mother was antigun until I put a seecamp in her hand, then she wanted one. My aunt and uncle were antigun until the show LOCK & LOAD came on showtime, now they are asking me to take them shooting offering to buy ammo. Dont let anti-gun people get you down, or anyone who rains on your parade for having hobbies that they personaly cant understand. Educate them the best you can, if they dont want to hear it, dont loose sleep over it. There are plenty of things I turn my nose up to, but some one is enjoying those things out there. Life would be boring if we could only have hobbies that everyone approved of.
 
I guess I am lucky. My step-dad and dad would have been proud (both passed-away), my mom is cool with it, she loves the idea of being protected by an AR and an AK amongst other assorted rifles and shotguns. My girlfriends family are all pro-gun. I do have some friends though that can't quite figure me out... I just tell them that when there is some sort of disaster and people turn into animals I don't have to be as concerened about people robbing or killing me ;)

Depends on what kind of anti they are. The majority of MA Anti's are just people that don't know anything about guns other then what they've been indoctrinated by TPTB here in the commiewealth. Take them to the range. Don't try to force your opinion on them but show them they're not as scary as it seems. Desensitize. If you try to preach at them they're going to did in.

The other type are the ones that 'have religion'. They're vehemently anti and preach it. You're not going to change their mind so don't bother trying.
