I'm tired.
Our reps in office are very busy. I sent my email about 5 or 6 days ago. The only reply was a return from about 1/2 of them that they were "out of the office." We can't even tell if they're reading or keeping track this stuff we send.
My local Rep., James Miceli, does stand with us on this issue. He is a good guy and has a good rating with GOAL.
...
Also if you guys can make it to the hearing please go and try to speak when they open the floor up!
Don't email them. Either call or visit with them in person! This will have the desired effect. Email is too easy to ignore or just hand off to some intern.
I thought one had to write in advance and/or submit something if one wanted to speak.[/QUOTE
Emails most of the time go right to the Rep or Sen. If you call or vist you will just get one of his aides to speak with. So you are better of with email.
No they should open up the floor to speak. And even if they don't if the room is packed with legal firearms owners that says a lot. Everytime this bill comes up for a hearing or something else shooters need to email or show up for the hearing otherwise it will pass.
These are some of the bills that will be heard at the hearing:
If you want to see the whole list: http://www.mass.gov/legis/hearings/07-14-2009_DAILY_HEARING_LIST.htm
H1311 (Canavan/GOAL bill) An Act Regarding Breaking and Entering of a firearm retailer, wholesaler or manufacturer
H1516 (Linsky) An Act to Prevent bulk purchasing and illegal trafficking of firearms
H1678 (Quinn/GOAL bill) An Act relative to deceptive weapon devices
H1680 (Quinn) An Act creating separate criminal offenses for assault committed with a firearm
H1703 (Rush) An Act Relative to illegal firearms
H3631 (Lantigua) An Act relative to the failure to report lost or stolen firearms
H4102 Governor's Bill
The other 45 bills (these people have way too much time on their hands...) will be dealt with between 12 & 2:30, correct? So I should plan to be there for those 2.5 hours and then they will not be dealing with it after 2:30 since they have apparently decided to spend 3.5 hours on the topic of age discrimination... Do I have this right?Time will be set aside from 2.30-6 PM exclusively for testimony on S.1687/H.1728.
*****I just got a reply from Rep Lewis Evangelidis saying he will "oppose Governor Patrick's proposal each step of the way." Was impressed with his response!

I also received a quick reply.
