Because everyone wants to upgrade stuff even when their older stuff is still functional, you can't even give away working used computer equipment anymore. I have an older laptop that's very slow and I installed Ubuntu on to help it limp along... I don't use it though and couldn't give it away if I tried. Besides, Grant probably has some newer equipment anyway that's better than this (and also can't be given away).

Pretty soon I'm going to be upgrading my PC, which means upgrading the 2 24" monitors connected to it (because it uses obsolete DVI interface)... they look at good as new. $0 resale value. The PC is very fast thanks to lots of memory and an SSD, but I'd be lucky to fetch $100 for it.

Anyway, the point is, unable to afford a PC isn't an excuse.

Is this all it takes to get a new pc around here? NES - id like a new stove and fridge while we're at it lol! Cmon man dont leave!
Why didn't I think of this a week ago? My fridge died (but I replaced it already). And if my fridge dies, I don't eat. And, if I don't eat, I die. Donate me a new fridge so I can continue living long enough to post on NES!

Like another person in this thread, I, too, thought you were dying. Jesus, Matt... what a bad title lol ... If you're serious about pulling the plug cuz your wicked old computer is dying...... someone here can donate a computer to you or a laptop or a tablet. Or we can all pool together something for you to get something. We need you on here to balance things!

If we don't hear back from him in a week or something... I'll give him a ringy ding ding on the ole tele if someone else on here doesn't beat me to it.

I mean just to access this forum a Raspberry Pi with a TV should be fine.

CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 B+ (B Plus) Starter Kit (32 GB EVO+ Edition, Premium Black Case) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BCC8PK7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Jyi6CbJJH31DM

That’s only $79 on Amazon, quad-core, Linux Dist, GPU, 1GB ram and 32GB SD card, plus all the port you need with Bluetooth and WiFi...

Yeah... kinda thought we were looking at some seriously bad news, glad it’s just a computer. I just replaced three of my office computers this week, have the three old ones which are still functional if you need one.

See you again in less than a week. Unless you go to counseling. You can't just quit cold turkey. It doesn't work like that. I have a spare desktop and monitor if you want it.
He speaks the truth. I tried giving up NES a couple years ago. Last summer I even did some drunk post binges trying for a suicide by moderator gig like the Doob did.

'bloc, I have a ThinkPad 760 kicking around somewhere. It's yours. It even has a 1200 baud pcmcia modem.

The boxes I have are similar, 8G ram, decent 128G SSD (and if he needs more storage, i have a huge pile of 1tb drives around that could be dropped in) just not something I sell at this point except to my one guy left with a ton of the same boxes still in service. Beefy enough for nes and gun porn/youtube/etc... only reason my customer upgraded out of them is the web apps they use chew up gobs of ram and they smack up against 8gb... best part for enbloc is I have gobs of spare PSU, etc, for these units too....
