Polarized political environment increases threat of violence
Republican Congressman Steve King warns that America is heading towards a second civil war as a result of the increasingly polarized political environment gripping the country.

“America is heading in the direction of another Harpers Ferry. After that comes Ft. Sumter,” tweeted King, with a link to an article about how “Occupy” protesters shut down an ICE office in Portland, Oregon.

Harpers Ferry is a reference to the Battle of Harpers Ferry, when Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Confederate army invaded Maryland in September 1862 and defeated Union forces. Ft. Sumter refers to the second battle at that location during the Civil War when Union forces attacked Confederate forces.

Please Mr King, don't get our hopes up. More likely we would end up like Venezuela. No actual war with well defined sides, just a really really sucky time. A war would be preferable, at least then there is an enemy to kill, and once killed you go back to rebuilding.

I thought Harper's Ferry was the raid by abolitionist John Brown before Secession (1859 or something) on an armory in West Virgina with hopes to arm slaves? Brown was responsible for Bleeding Kansas which was basically a campaign of terrorism against pro-slavery interests in Kansas.

He was hanged for treason in 1859.

EDIT: No wonder the article is factually wrong, it's INFOWARS. But God Bless them for trying...

Anyway, Sen. Congressman King is on to something.

The other side is gonna fight over bringing in non-citizens to be given welfare, equal pay for women (which they're already paid equally), Universal Income, gun bans, free speech bans, internet censorship among other things.

Let's say all that becomes reality... the nation will implode after a few months. The economic system will disappear, there won't even be one slice of bread in the bakery, the electricity (and internet more importantly) will turn off and then these same people will riot over food and internet.

I can't even think of a historical or literary reference to contrast these incompetents to. Maybe inbreds, maybe monkeys... that's it: animals. They're an endangered species who are so self destructive that their own existence will lead to their extinction.

That was what King said. Infowars was just quoting him.

The vast majority of those shit stains have no idea of what they are asking for.
By the time they figure out what they have gotten themselves into, they are going to know what it feels like to be at the bottom of the mountain knowing there is no way in hell your going to outrun that avalanche.

I know a number of average working class people who have been doing a slow burn for decades.
They want nothing more than to make a living , raise their families and live a decent life.
Many of them served their country in far off places .
You won't see them at rallies waving signs or even on social media ranting, but they are out there, a lot of them.
The left just can't help themselves and are on a quest to screw people like that over at every turn.
If/when it blows don't be standing in the way because it's going to be an ugly scene.

It was Harper's Ferry

You do mean and 'Un-Civil' war, don't you.... :D
What’s so civil about war anyways??

The coming civil war will be a logistical nightmare. The geography of the two sides just doesn’t lend itself to conventional battle lines. But again, conventional is a fluid term these days.
