Wow........I skipped around there and I feel like I've been lobotomized.
one single bar football helmet and a bus of no greater than 12 feet in length.
Bruce,
I am contemplating a suit against your post for not providing me with adequate warnings about following that link. The 50-70 IQ points that I lost from reading what was going on over there may never fully return. Should the loss be permanent my corner lawyer in a box has advised be to seek damages in the amount of one single bar football helmet and a bus of no greater than 12 feet in length.
There are two kinds of people with guns in this state:
1. Those who go through and pass a safety class, go to the local PD are fingerprinted and photographed and then wait for a federal background check (which takes several weeks) to be performed only to then have the ability to go to the store, pass another background check and obtain a firearm which they dutifully lock in a "secure" container per Massachusetts General Law.
2. Those who obtain them through no legal means and are already committing at least one Federal Felony by even having them to begin with and another by obtaining them. Let alone the fact that each cartridge is its own Felony. So if you illegally obtain a loaded six-shot revolver you have by my count 8 Felonies...
Maybe we should start actually enforcing our existing laws rather than trying to "squeeze the chicken" and make a group of law abiding citizens jump through further hoops when there is no evidence that increasing the restrictions on law abiding gun owners has ever reduced the incidents of violent crime.
In fact most studies have shown that increased gun control measures have been correlated to increase violent crime rates particularly home invasions.
The fact is if someone is already bent on breaking the law, breaking another law is not going to stop them... especially in a state that is consistently leinient.
I would wager if you look at the records of 80% of the individuals who pulled the trigger intending to murder another human being you would find that had they served the maximum sentence for their previous trangressions against society they should have been cooling their tempers in a 9x9 cell not trading bullets with another equally savory character across a 9-year-old girl's yard.
Step in here if you dare. It's the local discussion at the Globe about Rosie Rosenthal's new billboard.
Sorry, if this is considered a dupe of a dupe.
Lock if you must.

Oh I don't know, The first message I saw said
"Is there a big gun problem in Newton, or does this twit get his rocks off by driving past his own sign ?"
I thought the billboard with the huge AK-47 was pretty cool. It made me want to buy one. This one's lame; it doesn't make me want to buy anything.
I liked this one:
Couldn't read the anti posts for too long as my head was starting to hurt. Now I have the kind of headache that only buying a gun will cure.
