A 11mm bullet stopped by a plastic lighter ?

I've seen a news that a protestor in Thailand claim that a lighter in his jean stopped a 11mm bullet.

Can this be true ?

It doesn't look like it was stopped, but that he was grazed. If it did stop any bullet, it was because something bled off energy from the bullets movement. Either a ricochet, passing through other barriers (and jeans are a pretty good barrier BTW) or simply air resistance (in that it traveled a far distance) such that it had very little kinetic energy left.

So plausible, but not likely on it's own.

Then it was fired from a distance or it went through something else soft before it hit him. Plausible, but very well could be bull shit.

They will spend the bulk of the episode using lighters for target practice, and end the episode by either wrapping a zippo in a kevlar diaper, or strapping a barrel of C4 to it.

There are many stories about "miraculous" bullet stops - lighters, pocket bibles, etc. Of course, generally they're from a war, and chance takes over.

Hell, I even got an "x" on a rapid-fire target, once. So, anything can happen.
