2016 Fishing/Ice Fishing Thread

Good day, about a 4 lb fish. And we had an eagle picking up a couple of the slime darts we left on the ice. That was more epic than the fishing.

I'll be going to my clubs member derby on Saturday. Not real sure about the ice but someone checked it today and is happy with it so I'll give it a try.

Got out yesterday ice was getting sketchy so the day was cut short got a nice bass though.

Tried to fish Dug Pond in Natick on Saturday afternoon. Still iced over. Ice was untrustworthy so I bagged it.

This will be my first full year fishing since I was a kid, so forgive the newbish question: When do you guys start looking for ice to break up and fish to get more active/spawn? I've heard March 15 is the "magic" date to start going after bass, but it just doesn't feel "true". Would love any and all input. The waiting is killing me.

I was out in the yard cleaning up and burning all day Sunday, when done and being day light saving I decided to wet a line in the pond behind my house. I grabbed my ultralight and hoped I might catch something. The Pickerel were very active and i caught a bunch with a couple being in the 20" range and also a couple of very healthy 1 to 1 1/2 lb Bass. I know no trophies but it was my first time out this year and a great way to end day light savings day. I think it's time to break out the kayak.

Got out on the kayaks early this morning. Lots of bites but I didn't land anything. My buddy got a few pickerel and a beautiful 2lbs rainbow trout that he preceded to drop back in the water right as he got the hook out. Would have made a nice lunch.

First fly-fishing trip of the year on Friday! Got a new LL Bean Quest II rod and I'll wet on the Nissitissit and/or the Squannacook. Getting pumped!

Got into the Tog really good this weekend! Totaled 106 lbs Between a short Saturday and a full Sunday of fishing. 35 fish in total.
I've put together a group buy for afternoon charter trips out of Bourne. Fishing is only going to get better in buzzards bay!
Weekday after work trips are usually $350 , 4PM-730, I'm offering the same trip to green members for $300, open boat style runs or get a group of up to 4 people together.

So psyched the season is upon us!!!!

Productive day at Wachusett with a buddy of mine. The single fish was 4lbs 8oz.

I have heard great things about Wachusett, is it fishable from shore or are you on a boat? Can you even use boats? I've read there are arms off the reservoir that are good to fish as well?

Thanks for the help in advance.

No boats, kayaks, or canoes. Can't even wade in last I knew. Been a few years since I've been out there though.

Put the hurting on the fish yet again yesterday evening! Alan and Tom said they've never had such a good day tog fishing before and the fact we got 20+ keepers and countess shorts wishing 3 hours of have to say I haven't had many days like it either!!!!
I went out this AM before work and brought up 9 fish for the market within an hour!

Back at it this afternoon! Come on clock don't take your time!

"DCR permits Shore Fishing Only at the Wachusett and Sudbury Reservoirs from dawn to dusk daily during the fishing season."

That would appear to be true according to the DCF site.

Nice catch!
Fish looks ok too...[smile]

Went out at the break of dawn solo and pulled out 9 fish, went back after work with my brother and nailed another 17! Including this slob! I don't have a scale on the boat but I will get a weight when the buyer comes to get them tomorrow. I'm thinking 9 lbs?

This is some of the best black fishing I've had in a long time.....
