I know there are some upsides to having a C&R type license, such as some discounts from suppliers, but what are the downsides, such as in can they come and visit you at will? Can you still do FTF transactions? stuff like that.

You MUST keep good records.

They can audit, but with notice and limits (you can request it at their office, etc).

You can do FTF.

The benefits go beyond discounts, though, if you are into older guns.

(If you don't actually purchase anything classed as C&R, your record book will be pretty skinny. A Glock would not go in your bound book)

from what i know ( which isnt much) they can request to look at your register, but you can request it to be done at the atf office and not at your home. Wont affect FTF transactions, but you cant go ordering all kinds of stuff with your C&R and sell it FTF

The C&R is well worth getting. You do have to keep good records, but it's not really a PITA. Just keep in mind that you are NOT a dealer as hollewud7 said.

There's a ton of info about C&R on the site, especially here.

There is one thing you do give up with a C&R:

Money, lots and lots of money! [laugh]
